And so continues the most awful trend of 2016: On Sunday afternoon, we learned that singer George Michael had peacefully passed away in his home in England at the age of 53. His death was confirmed by his publicist via a statement that read: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.” Shocked fans and friends immediately took to Twitter to pay tribute to the music superstar, celebrating his all-too-often overlooked genius, his truly revolutionary support of gay rights, and the heartbreaking irony of losing him on what would be his own "Last Christmas." Rest in peace, George. Thank you for the music, and the memories.
