Newroz Pîroz Bê May this years Newroz brings freedom, peace and love to all. Newroz is our celebration of New Year and signifies the arrival of spring and new year in Kurdish culture. The lighting of the fires at the beginning of the evening of March 20 is the main symbol of Newroz among the Kurds. The festival has an important place in terms of Kurdish identity and cultural expression for the majority of Kurds worldwide. We celebrate Newroz with our colourful traditional clothes, food and dancing, however in most countries that Kurds call home cultural expression such as Newroz is met with oppression and persecution. Therefore each Newroz we celebrate with more energy and love and I hope this year our Kurdish friends and families in Australia, around the world and especially Kurdistan celebrate this years Newroz with pride and love - and celebrate the beginning of a new beautiful year. Nasrin Ghaderi’s family Perth, Western Australia. Link: https://lnkd.in/gtxz3zkc Nasrin Ghaderi was a young 38 year old Kurdish women who was murdered in her home town in Iran. Following the death of 22 year old Jina Amini, Nasrin Ghaderi attended the peaceful protests which took place across Iran. Upon returning home from these protests she was later found murdered in her own home. The story of this innocent 38 year old Kurdish freedom fighter is so horrific we cannot disclose further details to the public. Drawing your attention to our community as the Australian public and government bodies ask how Irans situation affects us, this is a pure example of a family right her in Western Australia that has to live with this everyday. It not only ends there, but continues to terrify the Australian Kurdish community and Iranian community as we wait to hear the news our loved ones have also been murdered. The 44 year long battle is very much alive, the Jin Jiyan Azadi movement (women life freedom) continues to spark this revolution

Jina Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman was found dead after being arrested by the country's notorious 'morality police', and soon became the face of the protest. Her death caused a rage which then turned to protests all over Iran against the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei regime and again brought to light the famous Kurdish slogan: 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi'. The Kurdish freedom movement of the late 20th century is where the phrase first started. Members of the Kurdish women's movement, a branch of the Kurdish independence movement that was established on grassroots action in response to persecution by the governments of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria, were the first to use the term. The Kurdistan province of Iran has been under constant systematic oppression and violence and has been struggling for the past 44 years. The Jin Jiyan Azadi movement was very much alive and continuing throughout these 44 years. It was our Kurdish martyrs such as Jina Amini that brought the world’s attention to it. #iranrevolution #jinjiyanazadi

Today we had the opportunity to listen to NSW Upper House Candidate Lynda-June Coe and the Senator for Victoria Lidia Thorpe and more valued people, the discussion was on Truth Telling and Treaty. We are keen to see more seats consisting of First Nation Australians in the Australian Parliament. We were there as resembles of the Sydney Kurdish Community. #firstnationspeople #australiangreens #kurdish #community #sydney
