Raven Software presents an adventure for the ages in Singularity, a first-person action game that puts players in control of time itself. Set in the present day, the game's plot revolves around a science-fiction piece of equipment called the "Time Manipulation Device," or "TMD." It allows its user to send a single object (or person) forward or backward through time, relative to the world around it. The powerful device is central to both the game's puzzle-solving and combat. It could be used to age a strong iron gate blocking a path into crumbling rust, for example, or to revert an enemy soldier to a devolved, mindless, monstrous state. Players take the role of a top Air Force pilot named Nate Renko, who is sent to investigate the mysterious island known as Katorga-12, a source of powerful, identified radiation. It appears that the island was once home to a Cold War skunk works for the Russians, and the ground zero location of a time-space disaster that occurred 60 years earlier. Time itself is now unstable on the island, as it seems to fluctuate between 1950 and 2010. Nate faces Russian soldier enemies from both time periods, as well as ferocious animals and plants that have been mutated by the radiation and unstable time-scape. Combat in the game plays out as in a first-person shooter, with conventional firearms, and later using the TMD as a ranged weapon, as well. Nate obtains the TMD early in his explorations of the island, and discovers the device's full powers as he experiments throughout his mission. In addition to quickly aging or reverting targets, the device can freeze an object in space and time, and later in the adventure, Nate learns to fire an impulse of energy that blasts enemies and object away from him.

    Truly a hidden gem!

    This is a game that came out with little fanfare and not many high marking reviews. It was criticized for how short it was and how "tacked on" the multiplayer component was. But now that it's easy to pick this game up for $10 or less and as long as you have no interest in multiplayer, the story is compelling, the graphics are top notch for the 360, and it has a very addictive "what are they going to throw at me next" type of gameplay. On it's normal setting it is not very challenging, but it is a ton of fun, and does a great job of switching between normal FPS and horror FPS. If you liked BioShock and more specifically BioShock 2, you will love this game! It's a little linear, but the atmosphere is great and the story telling is good old fashion made for TV Sci-fi.

    A good game

    I bought the game after finding it on the internet. I had never heard of it. I like first person shooters and this turned out to be a good one. I finished the game in a week and will keep it to play through again. I would recommend it.

    Melting cup of good games leaves little identity

    Overall, the game is enjoyable, however, the production values are not on par due to the use of a dated engine, Unreal 2. It seems, also, that game takes from many good games, which I actually like, however again these feature are not done as well as the original implementation. It plays with flavors of Half Life( story progression ), Dead Space( equipment and TMD upgrades ), and Bioshock (special powers with congruous gun play, audio tapes, ect. ). The multiplayer is a nice distraction, but thats about all, a distraction. Overall, an entertaining experience, but somewhat forgettable.

    New, Kind of weird that you can have an "experience" with singularity. If you do have experiences with this game you need to get a life. It is a stupid video game. Get outside and enjoy life. Disconnect from the fantasy world and connect with some real people. Other wise this is an OK waste of 5-6 hours. Kind of like bioshock with a different bent. Got for $20.00 bucks not $59.99. Not worth retail but worth playing once and reselling. How lazy the video game producters have been to release something like this and not much engaging (sp?). Kind of makes me wonder what the next COD title will be like. WWII, vietnam etc. They have not explored the future space angle yet. COD Future Space Adventure Or COD-FSA.
