Great for parents and their kids to play together
What’s It About?
The evil Morcuba (villain of MySims Agents) is back causing trouble in MYSIMS SKY HEROES. This time around, he and his sky pirates have taken over all the air traffic around a peaceful island chain, preventing the islanders from conducting any business or even traveling much. But a group of freedom fighters plan to win back the skies -- with the help of a new amnesiac pilot who shows up on the beach one day. That would be you. The game is played out through a series of missions that include races, explorations, and dogfights. The game allows you to completely customize your own planes (you can keep several on hand, each with different strengths) with the parts and pieces you win through completing missions.
Is It Any Good?
MySims Sky Heroes really soars. Its fast and frenetic gameplay is only enhanced by the colorful and imaginative visuals. The controls are relatively easy to handle, and the storyline is actually quite compelling. The customization system that allows you to build and personalize several vehicles for use in the game is definitely one of the highlights. You can not only customize (and re-customize) the looks of planes, but give each a different set of bonuses and special abilities that will help out in different kinds of missions.
The MySims series has put out several very good games, and Sky Heroes is no exception. It would have been nice if the player had more opportunities to simply fly around and explore the imaginatively-designed island settings, but the multiplayer modes (both co-op and competitive) are definitely a nice addition.
Online interaction: The console versions of the game all support online multiplayer dogfights. These can be fun and exciting -- and a great way for kids to show off their custom-designed characters and vehicles -- but parents should be aware that live voice chat may be enabled. Common Sense Media does not recommend moderation-free online communication for pre-teens. We suggest using the parental controls built into the game console to disable online communication features.

Families can talk about the violence in the game. Is fighting that takes place among colorful cartoony characters less problematic than the violence in a realistic game? Could this game have worked as well without the fighting?
Parents can also talk about forgiveness and redemption, which are themes in the game's plot. What does it take for you to trust someone in real life after you find out they've done something bad?
