Over twenty years ago, Alizée charmed Europe with her performance of "Moi... Lolita". The singer was a teenager at that time, but now her life bears little connection with her singing career.

Alizée was born in 1984 in the French town of Ajaccio, Corsica. Shaping her artistic talent early, one of her contest drawings even embellished the hull of an airplane. Coming from a non-artistic background, her mother was a saleswoman while her father worked as a computer technician.

From the tender age of four, Alizée started attending dance lessons. In 1999, she joined the "Graines de Star" television program to showcase her skills. Since the rules required performers to be in pairs, the teenager instead sang "Ma Priere," securing the award for the most promising young singer.

Alizée's rendition of "Moi... Lolita" took Europe by storm when she was just 16

Alizée's nationally televised performance caught the eyes of Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, prominent figures in French music and production. The duo were on the hunt for a singer for their next creation, a song inspired by a Vladimir Nabokov novel. After a few auditions with Alizée, they recorded the song. In 2000, "Moi... Lolita" became an extraordinary hit in the European music industry.

The teenager transformed into a celebrity, frequently guesting on music programs worldwide. Her concerts quickly became high-demand events. That same year, Alizée released her debut album "Gourmandises," which sold four million copies. Unfortunately, her follow-up album did not share the same success.

During the Eurobest festival, the singer met Jérémy Chatelain. They got married in Las Vegas in 2003, and soon after, Alizée stepped away from her music career and deactivated her website, all to focus more on their newborn daughter.

"Initially, I tried to continue performing but felt I was missing out on crucial parts of her life. I wanted to fully embrace motherhood," she said in an interview. Leaving music wasn't too difficult a choice to make.

Alizée chose motherhood over her music career: Now runs a dance school with her husband

Alizée returned to music in 2007 with an album featuring her husband. Within a few years, they got a divorce. Her love for dance resurfaced and in 2013, she clinched victory at the French edition of "Dancing with the Stars." During the program, she met Gregoire Lyonneta, who later became her second husband.

The couple had a daughter, Maggy, and Alizée once again left her music career. Today, they run a dance school in Ajaccio, Corsica, their shared hometown. They are content with their life there, raising their children, and have no plans of returning to the entertainment industry.
