Seed time and Harvest

Seed Time and Harvest….

Everything we do is a seed and the behaviour that we are exhibiting now is the harvest of the seeds that were sown in our yesterdays. Not only are bad seeds sown but they are cultivated by us – in the sense that when we realise that we have a rouge seed or a weed in our plot (that could be behaviour, attitudes and thinking) we still continue in it and speak life into it, (I can’t help it this is the way I am. Or I’m known for my temper etc).

It may be attention seeking behaviours or it could be other behaviours from our past that need to be checked at the door of our new life. When we are born again we are converted – so whatever we used to run on before no longer fuels us.  We try to reap a new harvest from the same old crop (I think this is the definition for madness, you know, expecting new results by doing the same old things).  We must come to the knowledge that what is sown of the flesh can only reap of the  flesh and what is corruption can only ever be corruption. It cannot evolve into something new and life giving. We fail to make the move from the old to the new because we are confident in our flesh and we are comfortable with existing behaviour.

We are given the Bible, the word of God which is a seed. This is the new packet of seeds that we need to sow from. Whatsoever a man soweth is exactly what he is going to reap.   Contained in each seed is all the provision necessary for that seed to come to maturity and bring forth fruit for harvesting.  If you have ever planted a seed you will know that you never had to add anything to that seed before or subsequent to planting.  The ability to mature had been has been written in the DNA of that seed, there is even enough food in the seed to supply it before it develops roots and begins to take nutrition from the soil.

The part we play is; (I) To sow good seed, (II) To create the right environment and soil for the seed, knowing that giving care and attention to it will bring you a bumper crop.

As a passionate amateur gardener it always amazes me that legitimate plants need so much care for them to survive, yet the weeds grow seemingly without any help.  Left to their own devices they will grow up and choke what you have spent money on, planted and tended.

How many seeds have you planted that have not produced the expected harvest  for you? Have you invested in your children who have now turned against you?  Have you spent time and money on friends who are now no-where to be seen in the time when you need help? Have you sown loyalty and fidelity in your marriage loving against the odds, yet there is no sign of the outcome you expected.

I want to encourage you that if you have sown good seed do not give up.  Get out your hoe of prayer and begin to weed out the weeds that have robbed and choked your legitimate plants.  Water those same seeds with your tears, keep going until your results come.  Do not give up, don’t be weary in well doing for after a while you shall reap if you don’t faint.

My last thought is this God is the on

e who sows, you are the seed, your heart is the soil/ground, His word is the water.  He expects an increase.

God Bless you
