New Market, Md (KM) A school bus carrying 40 students and an adult driver was involved in an accident Tuesday morning.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services says at around 7:45 AM, emergency personnel were dispatched to Boyers Mill Road near Pinehurst Drive where they found a van collided with a school bus.

Officials say one student on board the bus was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Two other occupants on the bus were evaluated, but refused transport. Two occupants of the van were also evaluated, and they too refused transport to the hospital.

The School System sent another bus to the scene as the one involved in the crash was not drivable. The remaining students were taken to Oakdale Middle School.

The Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash, and issued a citation to the school bus driver for failing to yield for a left hand turn. The driver will be required to pay a fine.

Fire and Rescue Services says all units cleared the scene shortly after 8:00 AM.
