Eminem
One of the highest-selling rappers of all time, Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III in 1972, was raised in Detroit, Mich.
With the release of 1999’s The Slim Shady LP, produced by Dr. Dre, Eminem rose to fame, although not without controversy. His lyrics were deemed homophobic, misogynistic and violent, and his personal life was rife with romantic turmoil and brushes with the law.
In 1999, Eminem married Kimberly Anne Scott, mother to his daughter Hailie Jade Scott. The couple divorced in 2001, remarried in 2006, and divorced again less than three months later.
Eminem made his Hollywood film debut with the semi-autobiographical 8 Mile. The rapper’s latest album, Relapse, was released in May 2009 to mixed critical reviews.
