As Tuberville was heading to the tunnel and into the locker room, a fan yelled at him, "you're stealing from this university." Tuberville wasn't having it.

"Go to hell," he jabbed back at first, shaking his head. Then he said, "get a job" to the fan.

Here's the video:

Sunday, the university released a statement from athletic director Mike Bohn regarding the exchange:

"Coach Tuberville was put in a no-win situation in front of his team last night, which resulted in an out of character response from him. He expressed frustrations from an emotional game. Our team, led by our seniors, is fully engaged with coach and his staff to fight to the finish."

The 62-year-old Tuberville has a 29-19 record in his fourth season at UC. The Bearcats went 9-4 in each of Tuberville's first two UC seasons, then 7-6 last year, and are 4-5 this year. UC made a bowl game in each of Tuberville's first three seasons but lost each time, 39-17 to North Carolina in the Belk Bowl (2013), 33-16 to Virginia Tech in the Military Bowl (2014) and 42-7 to San Diego State in the Hawaii Bowl (2015).

Tuberville signed a two-year contract extension Oct. 1, more than five months after UC announced it had committed to keep Tuberville through at least the 2019 season.

Under terms of the original five-year agreement with Tuberville, UC would have owed the coach a $1 million buyout if the university were to let him go this season or before Jan. 31, 2017. The buyout would have dropped to $550,000 before the start of the 2017 season.
