Donald Trump to formally declare his re-election bid on June 18 in Orlando

President Donald Trump

WASHINGTON – In the least surprising announcement of the 2020 presidential cycle, President Donald Trump said Friday he will publicly declare his re-election bid at a political rally next month.

"I will be announcing my Second Term Presidential Run with First Lady Melania, Vice President Mike Pence, and Second Lady Karen Pence on June 18th in Orlando, Florida, at the 20,000 seat Amway Center," Trump tweeted.

The tweet also offered supporters a link to apply for tickets.

There's never been much question Trump would seek re-election. Aides filed formal notice of his re-election committee with the Federal Election Commission on the day of his inauguration, Jan. 20, 2017.

Trump has conducted campaign rallies throughout the first two and a half years of his presidency. His first post-inauguration rally took place on Feb. 18, 2017, in Melbourne, Fla.

He will publicly celebrate his re-election campaign plans during another trip to Florida, a state that is probably essential to a victory for the Republican incumbent.
