I’ve spent the past six weeks living on a building site. There are workmen everywhere and dust on every conceivable surface, but I’m finally seeing some progress. As I write, the cornicing is going up in our bedroom and the first floor is just about habitable — my husband and I have been squatting in our loft room, so I’m very much looking forward to having my first bath soon.
