Truck Convoy Heading to Southern Border Calling Itself An ‘Army of God.’

A convoy of self-proclaimed ‘patriotic Americans’ is gearing up to head to the U.S.-Mexico border next week, as tensions between Texas and the federal government continue to escalate.

Dubbed the "Take Our Border Back" convoy, the organizers have named themselves as "God's army" on a mission to combat the so-called globalists who they believe are conspiring to keep the U.S. borders open and undermine the nation.

During a recent planning call, one of the convoy organizers described the event as a monumental moment orchestrated by God. Another participant emphasized the need for the faithful remnant, referring to the Book of Revelation, to rise against the dark forces of evil. While these statements may resonate with some, experts warn that the Christian nationalist overtones add a dangerous dimension to an already tense situation.

The current plan is for the convoy to depart from Virginia Beach on Monday, making stops along the way in Jacksonville, Florida, before reaching the border. The convoy will then split up for separate rallies in Eagle Pass, Texas, Yuma, Arizona, and San Ysidro, California on February 3.

The convoy's organization began about a month ago, led by a group of influential figures in the patriot community, including Kim Yeater, who runs a self-empowerment group and an anti-voter fraud organization. Yeater expressed her belief that "God's army is rising up" and that all participants have been chosen for this specific time.

Initially intended as a message to the Biden administration to "Secure Our Borders," recent events have intensified the significance of the convoy.

Ads for the convoy have gone up on 40 digital billboards in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and California, courtesy of a “private donor” whose identity organizers would not disclose.

Two weeks ago, the Texas National Guard took control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, a hotbed of unauthorized border crossings, and erected razor wire, limiting Border Patrol's access to the area. This act of aggression exacerbated the ongoing dispute between Texas and the federal government over jurisdictional authority at the border.

Two days later, a migrant woman and two children drowned while attempting to cross the Rio Grande into Eagle Pass. The Biden administration blamed the Texas National Guard for impeding Border Patrol's rescue efforts, a claim that Texas vehemently denies.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Supreme Court recently ruled that the federal government, not Texas, has authority over the border and that the razor wire should be removed. However, Texas has doubled down on its stance, vowing to "hold the line."

Governor Greg Abbott penned a letter accusing the federal government of breaking the compact between the United States and the states. Sixteen Republican governors have expressed their support for Abbott, while some Democrats call for the federalization of the Texas National Guard, which would strip it of Abbott's command.
