Description

Lyric poetry is music. This activity attempts to help students realize that. The first handout contains a definition of lyric poetry and asks them questions to help them consider that their favorite song is a form of poetry.

Then they scan a QR Code (or enter the URL), and read “For My Sister Molly Who in the Fifties,” by Alice Walker. They answer two questions about it, and then use the graphic organizer worksheet to create a lyric of their own about a person who is important to them.
