Biography

  • Quincy Hanley (born October 26th, 1986), better known by his stage name Schoolboy Q, is an American rapper from Los Angeles, California.

Having been born on a military base in Germany, Hanley probably experienced the kind of upbringing that is by no means a unique story in the hip hop genre; despite the fact that he was a talented American football player throughout his youth, he also found himself embroiled in gang culture, growing up in South Central Los Angeles; he joined the Crips at the age of just twelve, and sold drugs to get by - a teenage occupation that often saw him involved in street violence. That particular trajectory would eventually land him in jail at the age of twenty-one, when he turned to hip hop and music making more seriously than ever before - in interviews, he’s cited it as an important outlet for his aggression. He signed with Top Dawg Entertainment in 2009, a move that would ultimately lead to him collaborating with label-mates like Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul.

His debut album “Setbacks” dropped in January of 2011, and was a modest commercial success as well as well-received critically; he quickly went on to capItalize on that momentum a year later, with the sophomore album “Habits & Contradictions” going over very strongly indeed with the critics. The ascendancy of some of his aforementioned label-mates has seen the press mark him out as being part of one of the most exciting movements in modern hip hop. He made good on that promise with “Oxymoron”, his third album, in February of 2014 - it featured guest spots from the likes of Tyler, the Creator, 2 Chainz and Raekwon, and the fact that it topped the charts in the U.S. confirmed that he’s one of hip hop’s brightest stars.

  • ScHoolboy Q

There's so many things to say about ScHoolBoyQ for starters before he even played any music he walks on the stage to talk to the crowd,& as soon as he comes out EVERYONE in the crowd started chanting "ScHoolBoyQ" therefore, there's already immediately love for the rapper,& he doesn't need to prove anything to win this crowd. Next, he starts the show by playing one of his newest joints 'Dope Dealer' ft E40 from his newest album " blankfaceLP", therefore, the hype already started from the start of the show, not only that, but he brought out a couple special guest w/ him on stage, for example he brought out the Bay legend E-40 to smash his part on "dope dealer" & also, keep the crowd chanting, jumping, waving their hands non stop. Then he moved over to another popular song off his new album 'that part' ft Kanye west. ( sadly there was no sight of Kanye west there) but still Q can stand on his own when performing a hit song w a big ft. From one of hip hops biggest legends. Finally, he played 2 more songs from his older album " oxymoron" & brought out his adorable daughter, however she got a little stage fright & bounced from the stage leaving her daddy to handle the crowd by himself. After he performed his songs he jumped off stage to the front of the stage to show love to some of his fans by sighing their merch. Then he left. Yes he didn't perform a lot, because it was jimmy Kimmel, so what do you expect? But for even though this was a small show, he didn't care & still put so much into giving the crowd a good time,& handling this show as it was one of his owns. So I strongly encourage people to buy "blankfaceLP" & go see ScHoolBoyQ's perform atleast once in their life the vibes are great!(:

  • Around Spring of my senior year of high school, my boyfriend at the time began talking about a concert he really wanted to attend in a town near us featuring A$AP Rocky and the rest of his crew-Schoolboy Q included. I hadn't really heard of them back then, the concert was on a school night (I had strict parents), and I wasn't sure if I trusted my boyfriend's taste in music. However, after a little convincing, a new outfit, and said boyfriend purchasing my ticket, I decided I had to give it a go...and boy have I ever made such a good decision. The concert was incredible, and the biggest part of that for me was Schoolboy Q. I had sampled a few of his songs before the show and had been really impressed, but seeing them live created such a hype atmosphere that I will never forget. When he dropped Hands on the Wheel, the whole crowd just fully lost themselves to the beat. Yes, A$AP and the other members of his mob were good performers as well, but what really stuck out to me that night was and always will be Q. Hundreds of fans sporting his signature bucket hat that came out to see him would probably agree. Since then I have downloaded his follow up album Oxymoron, and though it has been out for awhile now, it's still one of my favorite tapes to bump in the car.

  • Quincy Matthew Hanley, otherwise known by his stage name of Schoolboy Q is an American hip hop recording artist from South Central Los Angeles, California often affiliated with collaborator ASAP Rocky. A critically acclaimed artist, he has received three Grammy nominations already despite only having released three albums.

Whilst his first two albums charted outside the US top 100, his third 'Oxymoron' went straight in at #1 due to his growing reputation as a strong new force in hip-hop. His live show also helped as he accumulated a cult following the strength of his first releases. As Hanley steps confidently onstage and commands the mic the crowd knows they are in for one hell of a show.

Achieving a sort of underground vibe within the venue, from the bass heavy tones of 'Fuck LA' to 'Man Of The Year' Quincy keeps his audience hyped with a combination of showmanship and simple freestyle ability. When he drops covers by the likes of ASAP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar, you understand why he is included in this barrage of US hip hop talent currently emerging.

  • Quincy Hanley is Schoolboy Q, the American rapper from the streets of LA to the stage of numerous concert halls, arenas and festivals worldwide. Schoolboy Q has come a long way since his youth, days when he was part of a gang and involved in a number of violent and drug related crimes. But from the confines of jail and the scars of a bad, troubled upbringing he rose from the ashes to become an incredible rap and hip hop artist. The confidence and swagger that oozes from Schoolboy Q comes from his incredible collaborations and experiences with some of the biggest hip hop names in the industry, including 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lemar. Schoolboy Q looked and sounded like the quintessential hip hop sensation, perhaps because that is exactly what he is. With three Grammy nominations under his low slung belt, Schoolboy Q has every reason to be so cool and confident on stage. The crowd were screaming his name and he loved every minute of it, hyping up the crowd and getting everyone moving.

  • Well let me start off with the negatives.

There was no DJ for about an hour and a half (as i was one of the first to get in) and when a DJ finally came on, it was Mouthe playing his set. Let me tell you, this guy is the shittest rapper i have ever heard. He sounded like he was mixing death metal and pop rap. Dont know what the fuck he was doing with Q. Worst part is, I think he thinks he's good.

After this, Traffic came on and the rest of the night was fucking lit from there. Q played all my favourite songs from TDE and it was honestly one of the best nights of my life. Energy was amazing, though the crowd was rough it added to the hype.

    10/10

  • It was lit. Q told us his voice was a bit messed up from performing, but still went on with the show and still carried it. He played a ton of old songs and some new ones.

He brought a fan on stage to sing Tookie's part and that was so lit.

His ending was amazing finishing with THat Part. The crowd was begging for an encore but left disappointed.

I only wish he'd performed for a bit longer and performed more songs off his latest album. But overall this concert was amazing.

  • The show it self was very good overall. The atmosphere was amazing and schoolboy was as fire as I imagined. Only concerns I had was the amount of people smoking (could barely breath normal air at slightest for 4 hours) and also how rough people were( I was expecting mosh pits but some people were unnecessarily being c***s). Apart from this I had very good time and was lit af.

  • Brilliant show, just absolutely sick, great quality sound. Support act wasn't amazing, however ScHoolboy Q completely solved the issue.

I would absolutely and see him again, and i'd recommend it to anyone who is a fan of ScHoolboy Q or just T.D.E. in general.

  • What a performance, the crowd loved Q and Q loved the crowd. The energy was exactly what you'd want from a concert. For the set list, to the visuals, I definitely got my money's worth out of the show and I'm looking forward to seeing him again come time 2020.

  • C'était de la frappe mais il y avait un peu trop de basses au début du concert, ça s'est arrangé vers la fin mais dans la fosse certain sons étaient compliqué à discerner

A part ça le concert était vraiment énervé
