Executive Summary:
Lehigh Steel is a company specialised in the production of specialty steels for high strength, high use
applications. In 1988 the company experienced record profits, but then in 1991, it reported record
losses due to the decreasing demand as a result of recession. After the crisis, the demand rose again,
but Lehigh Steel could not transform its revenue into profits. Therefore the management at Lehigh
decided to rationalize the product mix to address the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cost was a significant competitive weapon in determining share and profits. Efficient short production
runs were required in order to avoid inventory build up of customized products. Industry profitability
fluctuated widely ranging from 16.7% to 5.0%.
1.3 Market and Products:
Customers were classified into 33 market segments ranging from original equipment manufacturers to
forge shops, distributors to metal workers.
Lehigh had 7 product lines Alloy, Bearing, Conversion, Corrosion, Die Steel, High Speed and High
Temp of which three Alloy, Die Steel and High Speed comprised 70% of sales.
Die steel was steel strengthened for use in machine dies and molds.
High speed products served endurance applications, such as mental cutting and punching, and were
narrower in focus.
Alloys were used in aerospace frames, landing gears, missile cases and fasteners.
Lehigh also carried niche products lines Bearing, Corrosion and High temp whose volume fluctuated
with market conditions.
Conversion process was also carried out which involved the processing the non Lehigh owned
materials on the CRM. The company product hierarchy was in the following order: product lines,
grades, shapes, SKUs.
1.4 Production Operations:
Scrap steel was the primary raw material which was recycled.
Production process involved 6 steps:

Vaccines And Its Effects On Children
Congratulations, you vaccinated your child to protect them, you should feel proud, however, now they
are experiencing trouble breathing. Could they be experiencing adverse reactions from the vaccines?
Today, there are many vaccines, they are in such high demand that even a simple flu has a vaccine.
Vaccines are created to protect us. The main function of vaccines it to build our immune system and
fight against many bacterias. However, adverse reactions have become severe over the last couple of
years, leaving some parents with no child. Therefore, parents shouldn t be punished for not
vaccinating their children because, vaccines can cause many adverse reactions and death in children.
Vaccines are a social norm, we are taught that once your child is born they need to get vaccinated. It is
only natural for parents to want to protect their child. So why wouldn t we want to vaccinate and
protect our child? But, what if these shots that are supposed to protect us hurt your child? Children are
facing adverse reactions all over the world. According to the CDC, in the 2015 adverse reactions data
file concludes that from September 2 through October 5 there has already been 23991 adverse
reactions reported. However, some of these reported cases can be mild, that number is still extremely
high. Any child can receive an adverse reaction. Every vaccine has side effects as well. Robert
Kennedy, famous in the US politics was one of the few people who smoke up about vaccines. He

the pixel domain. Detection of the watermark can be done by correlating the pixels values with
expected pixel values. The drawbacks of this technique is limited information embedded, less resistant
to noise and compression and less robust to geometric attacks. These techniques are abandoned
recently[17]. Some common spatial domain algorithms include Least Significant
Bit(LSB)Modification, Patchwork, Texture Block Coding, Correlation based, SSM modulation based
etc. The most commonly used algorithm is LSB.
1) Least Significant bit(LSB)
LSB which replaces the least significant bits of pixels selected to hide the information. In this example
only the least significant bit of each pixel will be used for embedding information. If the pixel ... Show

A remarkable feature of this technique is the high robustness to any kind of distortion, since both
image areas are distorted in a similar way, which means that the watermark recovery by
autocorrelation still works [23].
B. Transform domain
Transform domain method takes advantage of properties of alternate domains by modifying transform
coefficients to support additional features. Transform domain method is divided into frequency
domain and wavelet domain.
1) Frequency domain
In frequency domain, we insert watermark into the coefficients of a transformed image[24] and then
watermarked image is inverted to obtain image in spatial domain.[24] The approaches used in
frequency domain are JPEGbased[ 25],spread spectrum [26],[27] and content based approaches
[28].Frequency image transformations include the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete Cosine
Transform (DCT) and others.
a) Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)
Fourier transform is a powerful tool for analyzing the components of a stationary signal (signal in
which there is no change in the properties of signal) [29]. It is a powerful tool for processing signals
that are composed of some combination of sine and cosine signals (sinusoids) [30]. Fourier
coefficients have two components phase and magnitude[31]. One of the main advantage of DFT is that
it is rotation, Translation and scaling invariant which helps it in recovering from geometrical
distortions. Licks algorithm [32] is one example.

Social Determinants Of Health Education
Background
Many people assume individual risk factors are the only conditions relevant to their wellbeing of
physical and mental health but in fact, education, along with age, gender, income and many others, has
been identified as one of the most important health promoting factors since people begin to
acknowledge the social determinants of health. Higher education is linked to not only increased job
opportunities, but also more resources that can improve individual s physical and mental health
(Shankar et al., 2013). Lleras Muney (2005) has reported the cause and effect relationship between
education and mortality, proving each additional year of education decreases mortality rate by more
than 3 percent.

Assess the Sociological Explanations of the Relationship...
Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks
Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. The importance of
science and technology on economic development and rational worldview on which they depend on
are seen as destroying the belief in supernatural. However religion can contribute to development, but
most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s
globalising world. This can be seen in India. Globalisation has brought rapid economic growth and has
seen India become a more important player in the world political stage. It has brought prosperity to
some, notably the Indian middle class. Nanda shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nanda notes that the Indians success in the global market have attributed to Hindu values. These are
constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India
itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and
Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power.
Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees
their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger
argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic.
He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its
members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are
not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For
example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains
backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from
Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. Lehmann says
that it has done this by accompanying globalisations, imposed my indigenous population and in the
past 100 years it has spread because of its popular following. The symbols and

The Importance Of Thinking Skills In Education
Education can be seen as the main way of developing individuals and society. The creation and use of
knowledge depends on ability to think. Good thinking could be viewed as empowering for individuals
and society. Perhaps most importantly in today s information age, thinking skills are viewed as crucial
for educated persons to cope with a rapidly changing world. Many educators believe that specific
knowledge will not be as important to tomorrow s workers and citizens as the ability to learn and
make sense of new information (Gough, D., 1991). School administrators have to recognize that
teaching core subjects alone is not sufficient to equip students for the knowledge economy. To be
prepared for the demands of the knowledge economy, students need to know how to use their
knowledge and skills, applying knowledge to new situations, analyzing information, comprehending
new ideas, communicating, collaborating, solving problems, and making decisions. One important
skill students need to have is thinking skills (Salpeter, J., 2003). Human resource management is one
of the support activities which though not directly involved in production will increase effectiveness
and efficiency in the creation of goods and services. Indeed, human resources are the major source of
competitive advantage for any business firm. Great attention thus needs to be paid to human resource
and its management as this will impact on performance of any organization. 2.2 FOREIGN STUDIES

Tibetan Independence Essay
The Question of Tibetan Independence
China has occupied the Tibetan plateau with military force for over 50 years now. The legitimacy of
Chinese claims to lawful control over Tibet is an extremely complicated issue, in many ways made
more difficult by the unusual relationship Tibet maintained in relation to the international community
before 1950. There are several competing considerations regarding Tibet s rightful status, each to be
addressed in turn. A historical account is necessary to address claims that Tibet has always been an
integral part of China, as well as to determine what formal arrangements have existed in the past and
with what parties. Determining the status of Tibet in international law is a crucial step in ... Show

This supposed connection refers to a rather complex relationship that has evolved over a period of
centuries. Though historically there certainly has been contact and some degree of connection between
Tibet and China, this connection does not necessarily provide the basis for Chinese claims to lawful
possession of Tibet. One fundamental issue when dealing with the legal status of Tibet is to first
determine what the name Tibet refers to, which is in fact enormously controversial. The current
Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) as designated by the PRC is not equivalent to the traditional
Greater Tibet referred to by Tibetans. There are large groups of ethnically Tibetan people in the
Qinghai, Sichuan, and Gansu provinces of China, separate from the TAR. These regions lay outside of
what Melvyn Goldstein terms political Tibet , the central Tibetan areas administered as part of Tibet
more or less continuously since the inception of unified Tibetan government. Tibetans in exile
consider the eastern regions, which they know as Kham and Amdo to also be contained within Tibet .
Goldstein dubs these areas ethnographic Tibet (Goldstein xi).
The distinction between political and ethnographic Tibet creates confusion, much of it willful, in
discussion of the historical relations between Tibet and China. For example, there are instances where
the Chinese claim that they received governmental

Facial Display Experiment
As the hypothesis predicted, the rate and the duration of facial displays do influence the outcome of a
contest between two male Betta splendens. In fact, it was found that the male which carried out more
facial displays for longer was, on average, defined as the winner of a dyadic conflict.
The average results seem to reinforce this hypothesis, although a few results went against it (e.g., the
fish in tank 13), which might have been due to some limitations of the experiment. The heater on the
left side of the tank might have interfered with the response from the left fish as it consists in a
physical object and might have reduced the attention of the fish especially during the first part of the
experiment. This means that there might have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, in the natural environment of Betta splendens the results might have been different as
many external factors might alter the outcome. In fact, in the natural environment aggression is mainly
used in order to get mating opportunities as the dominant male is seen as persisting whilst the
subordinate flees. This conveys genetic superiority to a potential female mate and therefore suggests
that they are breeding fighting fish and will be the best fitted to defend the area around the nest
(Doutrelanta C, McGregora PK, Oliveirab RF, 2001). Studies show that the agonistic behaviour of a
Siamese fighting fish is influenced by the effect of an audience. With a female audience, males tend to
show agonistic displays that are not so aggressive, as a recent study shows that females tend to prefer
less aggressive individuals (Teresa L. Dzieweczynski, Alyssa M. Russell, Lindsay M. Forrette and
Krystal L. Mannion, 2014). However, they tend to have more aggressive contact (e.g., biting) with
their opponents in the presence of males, which eavesdrop on the display. The behavior of the fish
might have also been influenced by the presence of a nest or of progeny in their territory as studies
show that aggressiveness increases in males who need to defend nests

Historical Destruction Of Machu Picchu
Many archaeological sites and artifacts around the globe have fell victims to cultural heritage
destruction. Whether it be from weather and climate change, tourism, the taking of artifacts, or
degradation over time. Cultural heritage destruction can be defined as the destruction or elimination of
historic sites, artifacts, or materials. Some people, whether it be government, an organization, or
individuals, work to protect and fund the preservation and maintenance of important historic
archeological remains. While other unfortunate sites are demolished, ransacked, or looted due to lack
of protection. Machu Picchu, located in the Andes mountains in Peru, is considered one of the seven
wonders of the world, as well as an archeological marvel built by the Inca people. However, this
historical site has come under protection due to cultural heritage destruction from tourists and
environmental degradation. Over the years, Machu Picchu has begun to erode due to an enormous
amount of tourism and climate changes. Luckily the Peruvian government has begun to take action to
protect one of the world s most well preserved mysteries and architecturally advanced sites of early
modern history.
The Inca Empire lasted throughout the fifteenth and sixteenth century, and was based largely
throughout South America. The Inca s called this spanse of land the Tahuantinsuyu, or Land of the

Research Project Social Media Campaign
Marketing in a Global Environment
Professor Mark Robinson
27 November 2014
Introduction
In this project, one looks at a successful social media campaign. The ALS ice bucket challenge is an
example of a successful campaign that brought millions in donations and thousands of participants.
Using the Dragonfly Effect, the campaign will be analyzed and then recommendations would be
uncovered.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was started by two people, former baseball player Pete Frates, and
Pete Quinn from Yonkers, New York. Both are afflicted with ALS. ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis or better known as Lou Gehrig s disease (Friedman Friedman, 2014). By July 2014, this
marketing plan had gone viral. The challenge involved declining the act and paying $100 to charity for

In the bucket challenge, the use of celebrities and the related philanthropy of playing along with a
humorous event can induce others to do the same and also donate more. It is like enlisting a group of
evangelists. The act must also be easy to understand and perform. It must be immediately actionable
since most people are not going to participate if it is difficult or dangerous.
One of the most important principles in the dragonfly effect is fun. The bucket challenge must be fun
if one wants to keep the involvement of the masses. Besides that, tailored acts that tap into people s
unique advantage can help spread the campaign. The audience must feel that the bucket challenge
makes them special and part of a larger cause. The act cannot be too difficult or too improper or
people especially celebrities would not participate. Finally the act must be open and no permission or
authority is involved (Aaker, Smith Adler, 2010). Anyone with a bucket, ice and smartphone can do

Nashob A Utopian Society
A Utopian society was an imagined community that would posse highly desirable or nearly perfect
civilization for people. There were many in America but none of them fully made it as a Utopian
society. The first three Utopian cities created were called New Harmony, New Philadelphia Colony,
and Nashoba. All three of them have gone through many challenges, but if these Utopian communities
worked out it would have helped for so much in providing for the citizens that lived in the community.
It would change how everything started into who we are now. I will be talking about them three
societies. New Harmony is a historical town on the Wabash River in Harmony Township, Posey
County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The society was established in 1814, the town was originally

The Nashoba Community was an experimental project of Francis Fanny Wright, initiated to educate
and emancipate slaves. It was located in present day Germantown, Tennessee, a Memphis suburb,
along the Wolf River. It was a emancipation plan in which no slaveholders would lose money for
emancipating slaves. Wright proposed that, through a system of unified labor, the slaves would be able
to buy their freedom and then be transported to the independent settlements of Liberia and Haiti.
Wright was strongly influenced by Robert Owen and his utopian community, New Harmony, Indiana.
Surviving for 3 years, Nashoba outlasted New Harmony. Write imagined that if her experimental
community was successful, its methods could be applied throughout the nation. Nashoba is
remembered as an egalitarian, interracial community, but it did not reach any of its goals. Wright left
Nashoba in 1827 for Europe to recover from malaria. During her absence, the trustees managed the
community, but by Wright s return in 1828, Nashoba had

Many Rivers To Cross Summary
Everyone has a desire, something that they want to achieve or obtain for them. Whether it is ethical or
immoral, having desires is almost inevitable. Sometimes these desires make people go through tough
times. Tragic occurrences such as death and broken relationships shape the lives of people positively
or negatively. In the following essay, Many Rivers to Cross and the short stories, Two Kinds and
Everyday Use , the protagonists of these texts struggle to achieve their desire, but because of those
struggles the main characters do eventually come to a revelation. Many Rivers to Cross written by
June Jordan is about a young lady who goes through a difficult childhood which follows her to her

One thing that the author was trying to get across is that people have to fight for what they want.
Nothing is simply handed to anyone. In Many Rivers to Cross , she goes through a lot of adversity.
The divorce with her husband was one, but the main one was her mother s suicide. Usually after
someone dies in a person s life, a whole new window is opened. The young woman realized a lot after
her mother s death. The effect of her mother s death was that she knew from then on that she had to
live her life the best way she can. She was so tired of letting everyone down. This was her revelation,
And it was to honor my mother that I did fight with my father, that man who could not tell the living
from the dead, she said, And really it is to honor Mrs. Hazel Griffin and my cousin Valerie all the
woman that I love (Jordan, 68 71). The struggles that the character in Two Kinds goes through is
continuously disappointing her mother. What was most difficult for her was that she lives in a foreign
family, a Chinese family, which most people know that they can be really strict people. Every time her
mother set her up to do something that she did not want to do, she failed at it and that made her mother
upset. The author is showing the reader the effects of that through the emotion of the child. But she
did come to a revelation with herself. She knew that her mother could only do so much

flatter no man; but to guide our Pen throughout by the Directions of Truth, we are obliged to bring our
Heroe on the Stage in a much more disadvantageous Manner than we could wish; and to declare
honestly, even at his first Appearance, that it was the universal Opinion of all Mr. Allworthy s Family,
that he was certainly born to be hanged. (118)
This gives the impression to the reader that Tom Jones is not an honorable man, and we shouldn t
respect him or his actions throughout the novel. While Tom is an impulsive character, mostly
everything he does is to help someone else, and he always has the best intent at heart. Despite his
efforts to help the people around him and be seen as a hero, his poor reputation remains the same for a
majority of the novel. A similar flaw between Tom and Emma is the fact that both are impulsive with
their actions. This happens multiple times in Emma, especially when she tries to play matchmaker.
This is partially due to the fact that she is unable to see reality clearly, which is what happens during
her attempt at bringing Harriet and Mr. Elton together. After finding a love note, Emma excitedly tells
Harriet: There is so pointed, and so particular a meaning in this compliment, said she, that I cannot
have a moment s doubt as to Mr. Elton s intentions. You are his object and

Non Traditional Students Of Color Essay
Non traditional students of color are often faced with obstacles that make life that much more
challenging as compared to traditional students. Rendon (1994) labeled non traditional students as
those that attend affordable community colleges and minority serving institutions, and traditional
students are those whose families have a history of college attendance, come from middle and upper
class families, and typically feel confident about attending college
(p. 13). And, research shows that these obstacles, challenges, and barriers that people of color face
have negative effects throughout their lives. Education is a prime example of how people of color
suffer great setbacks when they first enter college. Rendon (1994) points out students from
underrepresented backgrounds often experience isolation, a lack of self efficacy, and a lack of a sense
of belonging in college contexts (p. 48). Furthermore, one needs to take it one step back and realize
that most students of color are much more likely to attend schools where most of their peers are poor
or low income. Therefore, socio economic status (SES) determines the education a person receives
throughout K 12. Walpole (2004) also describes how low SES parents are more likely to define
success as a secure full time job after graduating from high school. College attendance is not an
expectation and often means enrolling in a community college or technical school when it does occur
(p. 47). When a student reaches the

However, in pharmaceutical industry product differentiation is not possible since India has followed
process patents till date, with laws favoring imitators.
Consequently, product differentiation is not the driver, cost competitiveness is. However, companies
like Pfizer and Glaxo have created big brands in over the years, which act as product differentiation
tools. This will enhance over the long term, as product patents come into play from 2005.
Bargaining Power of Buyers
The unique feature of pharmaceutical industry is that the end user of the product is different from the
influencer (read doctor). The consumer has no choice but to buy what doctor says. However, when we
look at the buyer s power, we look at the influence they have on the prices of the product.
In pharma industry, the buyers are scattered and they as such does not wield much power in the
pricing of the products. However, government with its policies plays an important role in regulating
pricing through the NPPA (National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority).
Bargaining Power of Suppliers
The pharmaceutical industry depends upon several organic chemicals. The chemical industry is again
very competitive and fragmented. The chemicals used in the pharmaceutical industry are largely a
commodity. The suppliers have very low bargaining power and the companies in the pharmaceutical

A heartbeat that is too fast is called tachycardia. A heartbeat that is too slow is called bradycardia
(National Institutes of Health, 2011). Digoxin toxicity, or digoxin digitalis starts with stomach pain,
nausea and vomiting, visual disturbances, and bradycardia. These symptoms can be mistaken for the
cold or flu. It is important to report any of these symptoms along with a decreased heart rate less than
sixty or an increased heart rate above one hundred beats per minute to the doctor. If digoxin is being
used with thiazide or loop diuretics, hypokalemia, or a decrease in potassium is common. It is
important not to take any beta blockers, or additional antiarrhythmic medications, because it can lead
to a slow and decreased heart rate. Sympathomimetics increase the risk of arrhythmias and thyroid
hormones decrease therapeutic effects. Licorice needs to be avoided because it increases the risk of
potassium depletion and high fiber meals can decrease the absorption of digoxin. If the patient feels
that the digoxin is not working, causing flu like signs and symptoms, or feels muscle weakness,
muscle cramps or constipation due to not enough potassium, the health care provider needs to be
contacted immediately. While the patient is taking digoxin, follow up exams are very important. A

incandescence.
In the article, it explains how incandescent light is produced. Incandescent light is produced when a
substance is heated so much that it begins to glow. Heat causes the substance to become hot and glow,
initially emitting infrared, then red, orange, yellow, and white light as it becomes increasingly hotter.

Relationship Between Divorce As A Private Problem And How...
A phrase coined by C. Wright Mills, exercising one s Sociological Imagination means to observe the
well defined link between personal problems and public issues in society. While the sociological
imagination can be applied to a multitude of factors, the focus of this paper is to outline the
relationship between divorce as a private problem and how it is reflected into the public sphere.
According to the National Health Statistics Report, nearly half of all first marriages end in divorce
(Casey et al. 2012). As this rate has drastically increased since the mid 20th century, divorce has
begun to create many setbacks for society in terms of the economy, crimes rates, mental health
capacity, and academic achievements. While initially divorce was seen as an issue for families
individually, society as a whole is increasingly subject to facing the repercussions. In an economic
standpoint, divorce has caused thousands of people to sink into poverty stricken lifestyles. Typically,
women are left in worse shape as they are usually given primary custody of their children and are left
to support a household without adequate financial support from the fathers (Espenshade 1979). As
more families are falling into poverty, the dependence on federal aid, such as the Aid to Families with
Dependent Children, increases. In the year 2000, of the 50 percent of divorced families that reached
poverty, 40 percent depended on AFDC. In conclusion, as divorce rates rise, more government

The Eastern Band Of Cherokee Indians
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are indigenous of parts of the Southeastern United States. They
have members all the way south as Georgia and are spread out across the Appalachian mountain trail
in both North and South Carolina and stretching across into Tennessee. The land in which each tribe is
from has a particular way is shaping how they live and defines the important aspects of that culture. In
the Eighteenth Century the Cherokee Indians were one of the most heavily populated Indian societies
in the Southeastern United States. These Indians have many unique political and spiritual ideas and
world views. Almost all Cherokee Indians were involuntary made to pick up and relocate to Oklahoma
in the 1800 s. Some Cherokee Indian escaped the Trail of Tears by staying out of site in the
Appalachian mountains. The Trail of Tears was the Cherokee name for what the Americans called
Indian Removal. During the 1800 s, the US government created an Indian Territory in Oklahoma and
forced all native american tribes to go live there. The Americans forced Cherokees to move even
though many tribes did not agree to this plan. The Cherokee Indians were one of the most heavily
populated of the southeast and did not agree to simply give up their land. The Cherokee Indians had
been harmonious to the Americans so they inquired for some help. It was decided that the Cherokee
Indians could be able to keep their land. Regardless President Andrew Jackson and his army

What Is The Role Of Religion In The Catholic Church
Unlike the Protestant Church, the Catholic Church practices all of the sacraments throughout the
human life cycle. The Church believes that the sacraments guide the soul to salvation and help
believers to achieve grace from Christ. They teach that Christ is actively present during the
ceremonies of the sacraments. The sacraments of the Catholic Church originated from Christ and his
teachings. Baptism is the new member of the Church participating in Jesus ultimate sacrifice when he
died for our sins and made it possible to be saved by Christ. It acts as the gateway to the other
sacraments. Through Baptism, the Church teaches that we are freed from sin and born again as
children of Christ. In Lectures in Systematic Theology, by Henry Thiessen, he quotes Clarkson to
explain that a person receives Sanctifying Grace, which, is known as sacramental grace inasmuch as it
carries with it a right to the supernatural helps necessary and useful for the accomplishment of the
purpose of each sacrament . This grace ensures the passage to heaven; in being baptized you are
brought to the eyes of God and he sees the individual as a member of the Church. In early adolescent
years the sacrament of Confirmation takes place to confirm faith in Christ. Confirmation adds to the
grace you receive at Baptism. In the Catholic Church, it s customary for infants to be baptized in order
to ensure their passage to heaven. Baptisms usually take place on Sundays during Mass. Typically,
Children are baptized with Holy water and oils on the head and not fully submerged. Those being
baptized traditionally wear white clothing to symbolize their faith and the renewing power of the
ceremony itself. Godparents are also a tradition that the Catholic Church upholds. The baptized child
or person will have a godparent of each gender, often times members of the extended family or close
friends of the parents. The original role of the godparent was to take care of the child if it was
orphaned, but now the role is primarily to set a good Christian role model for the new member. The
majority of Protestant churches only require faith in Christ to become a member. The Church
encourages the Baptism of adults because they can understand and pledge

The Use Of Mise-En-Scene In Film
Mise en scene, or the outer circle of technique: It should go without saying that cinema is
fundamentally a visual medium and Mise en scene is the term, albeit undefined, which most
encapsulates this sentiment. In essence, it s the composition of a frame. This is a broad scope of
course, but it includes the way a camera moves, the setting/costumes/props, lighting, as well as the
physical performances of the actors. Unfairly maligned for being all tell and no show, it s clear that
Breen does understand the concept of mise en scene:
Everything I do is very professional. So, I wanted things that were very interesting

artistic reasons, sure, but also because it s dirt cheap to not worry about permits or

Dionysus Greek Pottery
Pottery was a huge part of the ancient Greeks lives. The pots were very highly decorated usually with
scenes depicting Greek gods as a way of worship to them. This paper will explore two examples of
Greek pottery and explain their uses and what is seen on them and why. The first vessel is a red figure
bell krater, from around 380 BC, attributed to artist known as the Erbach painter. Typically red figure
style deals with scenes of everyday life rather than myth, this pot differs from this as it does contain
myth but rather than depicting the action from a mythological tale, it portrays a general scene of the
Greek god, of wine drama and fertility, Dionysus. In this scene Dionysus is seen as a young man

440 BC. Like the other, it is a red figure bell krater featuring Dionysus. In this depiction of Dionysus
he is again seen holding a thyros but unlike the previous vessel instead of the presence of vines we see
him holding a wine cup (kylix), which is a very common attribute of the god. To the right we see a
satyr playing the flute. The satyr could be one of the Titiyroi classes of satyr as he shares many of the
main characteristics of them, such as the flute and his tail. To the left of Dionysus stands a woman
holding a wine jug (oinchoe). It is hard to tell who this woman is, as there are many possibilities. She
could be a maenad for the reason that maenads show up in a lot of artwork with Dionysus. However
this would not be a normal showing of a maenad. Maenads are usually seen holding a thyros, wearing
a wreath of ivy, holding a musical instrument or wearing some kind of animal print. This woman
could be Ariadne, the wife of Dionysus. In Greek artwork, Ariadne is often seen with Dionysus. Both
pots share a similar artistic style and depict Dionysus in a very comparable way. The slight differences
that you do see between them could be because of the time difference between each work.
Nevertheless both vessels depict Dionysus in the usual way. Both pots lack a mythical story behind it
and seem to be a general scene. While the first pot looks like a worship to Dionysus, the second pot
looks like a general depiction of Dionysus and the people/creatures

some people willingly put themselves in dangerous situations just to explore their curiosity? If you
had to take a guess, would you guess that men or women are more likely to willingly enter dangerous
situations? People will face danger for many different reasons, some because they are not at all aware
of the potential danger, and others do because their temptation is too strong. In an initial reading,

Could they be experiencing adverse reactions from the vaccines? Today, there are many vaccines, they are in such high demand that even a simple flu has a vaccine. Vaccines are created to protect us. The main function of vaccines it to build our immune system and fight against many bacterias. However, adverse reactions have become severe over the last couple of years, leaving some parents with no child. Therefore, parents shouldn t be punished for not vaccinating their children because, vaccines can cause many adverse reactions and death in children. Vaccines are a social norm, we are taught that once your child is born they need to get vaccinated. It is only natural for parents to want to protect their child. So why wouldn t we want to vaccinate and protect our child? But, what if these shots that are supposed to protect us hurt your child? Children are facing adverse reactions all over the world. According to the CDC, in the 2015 adverse reactions data file concludes that from September 2 through October 5 there has already been 23991 adverse reactions reported. However, some of these reported cases can be mild, that number is still extremely high. Any child can receive an adverse reaction. Every vaccine has side effects as well. The drawbacks of this technique is limited information embedded, less resistant to noise and compression and less robust to geometric attacks. These techniques are abandoned recently[17]. Some common spatial domain algorithms include Least Significant Bit(LSB)Modification, Patchwork, Texture Block Coding, Correlation based, SSM modulation based etc. The most commonly used algorithm is LSB. 1) Least Significant bit(LSB) LSB which replaces the least significant bits of pixels selected to hide the information. In this example only the least significant bit of each pixel will be used for embedding information. If the pixel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A remarkable feature of this technique is the high robustness to any kind of distortion, since both image areas are distorted in a similar way, which means that the watermark recovery by autocorrelation still works [23]. B. Transform domain Transform domain method takes advantage of properties of alternate domains by modifying transform coefficients to support additional features. Transform domain method is divided into frequency domain and wavelet domain. 1) Frequency domain In frequency domain, we insert watermark into the coefficients of a transformed image[24] and then watermarked image is inverted to obtain image in spatial domain.[24] The approaches used in frequency domain are JPEGbased[ 25],spread spectrum [26],[27] and content based approaches [28].Frequency image transformations include the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and others. a) Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) Fourier transform is a powerful tool for analyzing the components of a stationary signal (signal in which there is no change in the properties of signal) [29]. Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. The importance of science and technology on economic development and rational worldview on which they depend on are seen as destroying the belief in supernatural. However religion can contribute to development, but most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s globalising world. This can be seen in India. These are constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power. Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic. He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. • 9. The Importance Of Thinking Skills In Education Education can be seen as the main way of developing individuals and society. The creation and use of knowledge depends on ability to think. Good thinking could be viewed as empowering for individuals and society. Perhaps most importantly in today s information age, thinking skills are viewed as crucial for educated persons to cope with a rapidly changing world. Many educators believe that specific knowledge will not be as important to tomorrow s workers and citizens as the ability to learn and make sense of new information (Gough, D., 1991). School administrators have to recognize that teaching core subjects alone is not sufficient to equip students for the knowledge economy. To be prepared for the demands of the knowledge economy, students need to know how to use their knowledge and skills, applying knowledge to new situations, analyzing information, comprehending new ideas, communicating, collaborating, solving problems, and making decisions. One important skill students need to have is thinking skills (Salpeter, J., 2003). Human resource management is one of the support activities which though not directly involved in production will increase effectiveness and efficiency in the creation of goods and services. Indeed, human resources are the major source of competitive advantage for any business firm. Great attention thus needs to be paid to human resource and its management as this will impact on performance of any organization. 2.2 FOREIGN STUDIES Thinking skills ... The legitimacy of Chinese claims to lawful control over Tibet is an extremely complicated issue, in many ways made more difficult by the unusual relationship Tibet maintained in relation to the international community before 1950. There are several competing considerations regarding Tibet s rightful status, each to be addressed in turn. This supposed connection refers to a rather complex relationship that has evolved over a period of centuries. Though historically there certainly has been contact and some degree of connection between Tibet and China, this connection does not necessarily provide the basis for Chinese claims to lawful possession of Tibet. One fundamental issue when dealing with the legal status of Tibet is to first determine what the name Tibet refers to, which is in fact enormously controversial. The current Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) as designated by the PRC is not equivalent to the traditional Greater Tibet referred to by Tibetans. There are large groups of ethnically Tibetan people in the Qinghai, Sichuan, and Gansu provinces of China, separate from the TAR. These regions lay outside of what Melvyn Goldstein terms political Tibet , the central Tibetan areas administered as part of Tibet more or less continuously since the inception of unified Tibetan government. Tibetans in exile consider the eastern regions, which they know as Kham and Amdo to also be contained within Tibet . Goldstein dubs these areas ethnographic Tibet (Goldstein xi). In fact, it was found that the male which carried out more facial displays for longer was, on average, defined as the winner of a dyadic conflict. The average results seem to reinforce this hypothesis, although a few results went against it (e.g., the fish in tank 13), which might have been due to some limitations of the experiment. Nonetheless, in the natural environment of Betta splendens the results might have been different as many external factors might alter the outcome. In fact, in the natural environment aggression is mainly used in order to get mating opportunities as the dominant male is seen as persisting whilst the subordinate flees. This conveys genetic superiority to a potential female mate and therefore suggests that they are breeding fighting fish and will be the best fitted to defend the area around the nest (Doutrelanta C, McGregora PK, Oliveirab RF, 2001). Studies show that the agonistic behaviour of a Siamese fighting fish is influenced by the effect of an audience. With a female audience, males tend to show agonistic displays that are not so aggressive, as a recent study shows that females tend to prefer less aggressive individuals (Teresa L. Dzieweczynski, Alyssa M. Russell, Lindsay M. Forrette and Krystal L. Mannion, 2014). However, they tend to have more aggressive contact (e.g., biting) with their opponents in the presence of males, which eavesdrop on the display. The behavior of the fish might have also been influenced by the presence of a nest or of progeny in their territory as studies show that aggressiveness increases in males who need to defend nests ... Rendon (1994) labeled non traditional students as those that attend affordable community colleges and minority serving institutions, and traditional students are those whose families have a history of college attendance, come from middle and upper class families, and typically feel confident about attending college (p. 13). And, research shows that these obstacles, challenges, and barriers that people of color face have negative effects throughout their lives. Education is a prime example of how people of color suffer great setbacks when they first enter college. Rendon (1994) points out students from underrepresented backgrounds often experience isolation, a lack of self efficacy, and a lack of a sense of belonging in college contexts (p. 48). Furthermore, one needs to take it one step back and realize that most students of color are much more likely to attend schools where most of their peers are poor or low income. Therefore, socio economic status (SES) determines the education a person receives throughout K 12. Walpole (2004) also describes how low SES parents are more likely to define success as a secure full time job after graduating from high school. • 29. Relationship Between Divorce As A Private Problem And How... A phrase coined by C. Wright Mills, exercising one s Sociological Imagination means to observe the well defined link between personal problems and public issues in society. While the sociological imagination can be applied to a multitude of factors, the focus of this paper is to outline the relationship between divorce as a private problem and how it is reflected into the public sphere. According to the National Health Statistics Report, nearly half of all first marriages end in divorce (Casey et al. 2012). As this rate has drastically increased since the mid 20th century, divorce has begun to create many setbacks for society in terms of the economy, crimes rates, mental health capacity, and academic achievements. While initially divorce was seen as an issue for families individually, society as a whole is increasingly subject to facing the repercussions. In an economic standpoint, divorce has caused thousands of people to sink into poverty stricken lifestyles. Typically, women are left in worse shape as they are usually given primary custody of their children and are left to support a household without adequate financial support from the fathers (Espenshade 1979). As more families are falling into poverty, the dependence on federal aid, such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children, increases. In the year 2000, of the 50 percent of divorced families that reached poverty, 40 percent depended on AFDC. In conclusion, as divorce rates rise, more government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. What Is The Role Of Religion In The Catholic Church Unlike the Protestant Church, the Catholic Church practices all of the sacraments throughout the human life cycle. The Church believes that the sacraments guide the soul to salvation and help believers to achieve grace from Christ. They teach that Christ is actively present during the ceremonies of the sacraments. The sacraments of the Catholic Church originated from Christ and his teachings. Baptism is the new member of the Church participating in Jesus ultimate sacrifice when he died for our sins and made it possible to be saved by Christ. It acts as the gateway to the other sacraments. Through Baptism, the Church teaches that we are freed from sin and born again as children of Christ. In Lectures in Systematic Theology, by Henry Thiessen, he quotes Clarkson to explain that a person receives Sanctifying Grace, which, is known as sacramental grace inasmuch as it carries with it a right to the supernatural helps necessary and useful for the accomplishment of the purpose of each sacrament . This grace ensures the passage to heaven; in being baptized you are brought to the eyes of God and he sees the individual as a member of the Church. In early adolescent years the sacrament of Confirmation takes place to confirm faith in Christ. Confirmation adds to the grace you receive at Baptism. In the Catholic Church, it s customary for infants to be baptized in order to ensure their passage to heaven. Baptisms usually take place on Sundays during Mass. Typically, Children are baptized with Holy water and oils on the head and not fully submerged. Those being baptized traditionally wear white clothing to symbolize their faith and the renewing power of the ceremony itself. Godparents are also a tradition that the Catholic Church upholds. The baptized child or person will have a godparent of each gender, often times members of the extended family or close friends of the parents. The original role of the godparent was to take care of the child if it was orphaned, but now the role is primarily to set a good Christian role model for the new member. The majority of Protestant churches only require faith in Christ to become a member. The Church encourages the Baptism of adults because they can understand and pledge ... The Use Of Mise-En-Scene In Film Mise en scene, or the outer circle of technique: It should go without saying that cinema is fundamentally a visual medium and Mise en scene is the term, albeit undefined, which most encapsulates this sentiment. In essence, it s the composition of a frame. This is a broad scope of course, but it includes the way a camera moves, the setting/costumes/props, lighting, as well as the physical performances of the actors. Unfairly maligned for being all tell and no show, it s clear that Breen does understand the concept of mise en scene: Everything I do is very professional. • 35. Dionysus Greek Pottery Pottery was a huge part of the ancient Greeks lives. The pots were very highly decorated usually with scenes depicting Greek gods as a way of worship to them. This paper will explore two examples of Greek pottery and explain their uses and what is seen on them and why. The first vessel is a red figure bell krater, from around 380 BC, attributed to artist known as the Erbach painter. Typically red figure style deals with scenes of everyday life rather than myth, this pot differs from this as it does contain myth but rather than depicting the action from a mythological tale, it portrays a general scene of the Greek god, of wine drama and fertility, Dionysus. Like the other, it is a red figure bell krater featuring Dionysus. In this depiction of Dionysus he is again seen holding a thyros but unlike the previous vessel instead of the presence of vines we see him holding a wine cup (kylix), which is a very common attribute of the god. To the right we see a satyr playing the flute. The satyr could be one of the Titiyroi classes of satyr as he shares many of the main characteristics of them, such as the flute and his tail. To the left of Dionysus stands a woman holding a wine jug (oinchoe). It is hard to tell who this woman is, as there are many possibilities. She could be a maenad for the reason that maenads show up in a lot of artwork with Dionysus. However this would not be a normal showing of a maenad. Maenads are usually seen holding a thyros, wearing a wreath of ivy, holding a musical instrument or wearing some kind of animal print. This woman could be Ariadne, the wife of Dionysus. In Greek artwork, Ariadne is often seen with Dionysus. Both pots share a similar artistic style and depict Dionysus in a very comparable way. The slight differences that you do see between them could be because of the time difference between each work. Nevertheless both vessels depict Dionysus in the usual way. Both pots lack a mythical story behind it and seem to be a general scene. While the first pot looks like a worship to Dionysus, the second pot looks like a general depiction of Dionysus and the people/creatures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Have you ever wondered if some people willingly put themselves in dangerous situations just to explore their curiosity? If you had to take a guess, would you guess that men or women are more likely to willingly enter dangerous situations? People will face danger for many different reasons, some because they are not at all aware of the potential danger, and others do because their temptation is too strong. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Was St. John Fox intent on speaking specifically to Mary Foxe on the plane ride? Or did Mary Foxe just happen to be in the right place and at the right time? The way he enters the scene in the novel is particularly strange and seems to alarm Mary Foxe. She describes his appearance like this It seemed as he had addressed the words to me, so I opened my eyes. He was sitting to my right, his whole body turned toward me, his chin on his fist as he studied me. I hadn t heard or felt him draw near (Oyeyemi 149). The way St. John Fox snuck up on Mary Foxe so quietly appeared to startle her, even though his intentions only appear to be to engage in casual conversation by mentioning Only two hours until landing (Oyeyemi 149). Was this conversation accidental or planned? His seemingly unimportant comment wasn t what appeared to bother Mary Foxe. While describing his looks from her initial glance up at him, she said He was good looking. Enough to make me feel uncomfortable. Tall and dark, etc. (Oyeyemi 149). Mary Foxe specifically stated that St. John Fox made her feel uncomfortable solely based off of his looks, proving the earlier alternate interpretation of the chapter to be correct that she did at one point see potential danger in St. John Fox. However, there is no strong evidence to support that she was extremely bothered by slyness.
