Special Effects and Scenes from The Day After Tomorrow
Some scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow were very plausible and likely to occur in real
life, while others were simply made from special effects and could most likely never occur in day to
day life.
One very possible scene was animals sensing the weather and being able to escape before a massive
storm was soon to hit. According to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can animals predict
disaster/tall tales or true/131/, Plenty of studies have shown that some animals can sense major
changes in the weather. Worms, for instance, are known to flee rising groundwater. Birds are known to
be sensitive to air pressure changes, and often hunker down before a big storm. And in Florida,
researchers studying tagged sharks say they flee to deeper water just before a big hurricane arrives.
They also may be sensing the air and water pressure changes caused by the big storm. Another
plausible scene in the movie is tornadoes being so powerful and strong that they can pick up cars and
throw them forcefully into the air. One example that backs up this statement is, In a scene straight out
of a blockbuster disaster movie, big rig trucks were tossed high into the air like toys when huge
tornadoes slammed into Dallas yesterday (April 3). The National Weather Service said today that the
damage in Texas, which included hundreds of homes, suggested one of the twisters was an EF2,
meaning the winds gusted between 111 and 135 mph (179 217 kph). Videos of the truck tossing

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Poem Analysis
Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night One of the key aspects of poetry is the theme of a poem.
Through his writing, Dylan Thomas is a good example of how to use many different methods to
display the feeling and emotion behind his writing. One example of his skill in this area is in the poem
Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night . This poem has a theme about fighting against death, which
is seen through the use of literary devices such as repetition, symbolism, and rhyme scheme.
One way that the poem demonstrates its theme is through its use of repetition. This can be seen
through the repetition of the phrase do not go gentle into that good night throughout the poem. As this
phrase is also the title of the poem, it clearly has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in the context of the poem, it also emphasizes how even though these people know this, they
still fight. This symbolism helps to keep the reader invested in the poem. Another example of
symbolism is seen in the quote wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight This quote emphasizes
the other part of the symbolism, how light represents life. In this quote, this symbolism is carried out
by using the sun to represent light. The sun represents the life in the wild men . These men represent
how the author feels that people should live when faced with the threat of death. Lastly, the poem uses
the literary device rhyme scheme to demonstrate its theme. The first place that this can be seen is in
the line old age should burn and rave at close of day . This line is one of the first in the rhyme scheme.
This poem is a villanelle, which has a very specific rhyme scheme. This is a difficult rhyme scheme to
use in English because there aren t that many words that rhyme. It takes a lot of skill for a writer to
create an emotion poem with this form. The use of this rhyme scheme helps to keep the entire poem
connected. A second example of the effect this rhyme scheme has is in the quote and you, my father
there on the sad height; Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray . These are 2 of the final
lines of the poem. These lines reveal to the reader who the poem is about, and why the subject matter
is so important

An examination of the case study New Protocol: How Drug s Rebirth as Treatment for Cancer Fueled

individuals self centered motives often improve society: By pursuing his own interests he frequently
promotes that of the society more effectually than when he really intends to promote it (Donaldson,
167). Given Celgene s perceived self centered actions, Smith would note that this type of free market
behavior is positive and is guided by an invisible hand which helps such behavior to be beneficial to
society as a whole. The next philosopher to be examined would argue that the invisible hand that
Smith speaks of is indeed separate from the political realm. Milton Friedman continues with Smith s
line of logic as he asserts that the chief concern of the businessman must be to make a profit under
socially acceptable means and that the defining of social responsibilities must be left in the political
sphere. Celgene s chief executive, John Jackson, was the primary force behind the company s decision
to raise prices. Jackson s actions are perfectly ethical according to Friedman who writes, What does it

face to face, she never replies. Jason Moreland starts to get annoyed and suspicious which leads him to
doing some cyberstalking. This leads him to a shocking discovery. He then finds out that Lacey
already died the year before. He starts formulating ideas on what is actually happening, yet he still
plans to get to the bottom of it. Jason and his best friend Rakesh start a journey to find out what is

What Motivates Employees Essay
How do you get things done in an organization? First, you must have managers who can delegate to
employees. Effective managers have the ability to get things done through other people. This is
accomplished by motivating employees to accomplish tasks. A manager must be able to delegate these
tasks to employees. The technique a manager uses to motivate employees to work for him, will either
motivate or dissatisfy employees. Motivated employees will work with the manager to achieve
company goals. Those employees who are dissatisfied will work against company goals.
It wasn t that long ago that employees were considered just another input into the production of goods
and services. (Linder 1998) Elton Mayo had a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This style is involved with the charisma, ability to inspire motivation,..., and ability to relate to others.
(Davidhizar 1997, 17) The encouragement the manager offers must be genuine or else it is perceived
as a form of manipulation. Some employees see non genuine encouragement as management being
fake and trying to get one over on them. This will make the managers job much more difficult.
Encouragement doesn t cost the company anything and it s in all managers best interest to practice it
freely and regularly.
Transformational leadership is about empowerment, cooperation and shared responsibilities.
(Davidhizar 1997, 20) So managers must be comfortable with all forms of encouragement. Also, when
positive actions are encouraged those actions are more likely to be repeated. Many managers only
punish negative behavior never reinforcing positive behavior. When employees are constantly
punished they learn not to vary from what is safe. Managers that reprimand are usually the type of
managers that leave very little of an employees job to the imagination. This type of management style
leads to employees being unmotivated, because the job doesn t let them use their abilities. Many
managers believe that punishment will stop undesirable behavior, punishment doesn t necessarily
assure the behavior will not happen again. It will most likely lead to employees only exhibiting
behavior that attracts praise and reward and

Autonomy Vs. Paternalism In Mental Health Treatment
The assignment for this Ethics class was to review Mr. Jacob s treatment, as described by the New
York State Commission on Quality of Care for the
Mentally disabled (1994). The class was further asked to comment on the major issues for each of the
three perspectives. The agencies, family and review board were to be included. This student will begin
with a fourth perspective; that of Mr. Gordon.
In the Matter of Jacob Gordon (1994), is the story of the last eight years of a psychiatrically disabled
man s life. Mr. Gordon appeared to vacillate between striving for autonomy and accepting the support
of his family.

safety was the most important issue for the family.
Secondarily to his safety, Mr. Gordon s family wished him to have the opportunity to participate in
programming that would assist in his wellness.
For Mr. Gordon s family, wellness seemed to equate to a standard of behavior that his mother
personally viewed as normal.
The family were not bound to any code of ethics or compelled to understand their biases or prejudices
in their son s case. Certainly, to say that the family operated on the premise of paternalism is an
understatement. Ethically, the Gordon s believed that they were the most justified to speak in the best

Titration Of A Concentration And The Acid Base Titration
Summary
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of a concentration and the acid base titration.
In part A of this experiment, the molarity of an assigned concentration which was 0.040, was found
using formulas that represent molarity. Part B of this experiment, which was titration of an acid and
base, was found by a series of steps that involved dropping Sodium Hydroxide from a buret into
vinegar, until the perfect shade of pale pink occurred. With the Phenolphthalein, too much acid causes
the base to turn a dark pink. The molarity was then found of the titration. So the end results will
determine M HCH3O2.
Introduction A solution is a homogenous mixture of a solvent and one or more solutes. The substance
that dissolves in the solute is the solvent, and the solute is what gets dissolved. Solutions can vary in
concentration in great ratio differences. It is very important to be able to correctly prepare solutions.
There is always a proper amount of solution to be made to have a desired amount of produced. So in
the medical world, too much solute will most likely have harmful effects like overdosing and too little
could result in ineffective treatment. Also the money spent on solutions could also be another reason
for correct preparation of solutions, because the success of the drug has an effect on future sales and
profit. Solutions that are dilute, are weak, and solutions that are concentrated are strong. A precise
means of describing concentration is 1.

The Pros And Cons Of Pitbulls
Have you ever seen a pitbull walking on a sidewalk, or at a dog park? If you have, you may have seen
people avoiding it. But why? Over the years, pitbulls have gained a bad rep for pets. People often say
they are the choice of drug dealers, and other bad folks for a reason. They say this because pitbulls are
often documented for attacks, and being danger to their communities. Do you agree? I don,t. To me, it
makes no sense to why they are bad pets. Just because they can attack doesn t mean they are all a
danger, or a hazard. Here is why I think that.
One reason is that they can help and warn people. A thing that a lot of people don t understand is that
pitbulls are very loyal to their owner. That is why they are often guard dogs. Because of their loyalty,
they have helped in the military. In the early 1900s, there was a pitbull named Stubby who became a
military hero for warning the soldiers of a gas leak that could have killed them. He saved many lives
that day. That is a benefit of a pitbull. They will help their owners. So if you are looking for a dog that
will obey you, pitbulls are a great option as a pet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since of this, many people get the wrong idea of pitbulls, and are expecting to hear more about their
attacks. According to the ASPCA, they will not cover dog attacks unless the incident involves a
pitbull. The media is intentionally over reporting them. To me it seems unfair that a dog that can
possibly attack gets more discrimination over another dog that can possibly attack because the media
likes them less. People believe a lot of the things they see on news articles, but if they stopped to think
about if it is true or not, I feel like many more people would be on my

(Kurfiss 1988 cited in Baril et al. 1998, p. 383) However critical thinking has no one, universally
accepted definition. This perhaps represents the first difficulty in incorporating such skills into
accounting education; no one can agree on what precisely critical thinking skills encompass (Young
and Warren 2011). Pascarella and Terezini (2005, p.155) summarise these skills to include: The
general intellectual outcomes of postsecondary education that permit individuals the process and
utilize new information; communicate effectively; reason objectively and draw objective conclusions
from various types of data; evaluate new ideas and techniques efficiently; become more objective
about beliefs, attitudes, and values; evaluate arguments and claims critically; and make reasonable
decisions in the face of imperfect information. Education plays an imperative role in developing these
skills. Young and Warren (2011), in their review of the education literature, stated that a number of
cross sectional research studies have shown that a student s critical thinking ability can improve while
at college. While Parcarella and Terenzini (2005) approximate that a student can improve their critical
thinking skills by 63% by the end of their sophomore year. According to Hurt (2007) these skills must
be developed consistently, purposefully and rationally over time to enable students to appropriately
respond to the intricate issues that the working environment

Stereotypes In Sorry For The Loss By Bridget Keehan
When it comes to stereotypes, it often results in our expectations don t match reality. But I can help
make the world easier to understand. In the short story Sorry for the Loss from 2008 by Bridget
Keehan, we meet a minister who becomes surprised when an inmate, she meets, don t seem to be what
she had expected.
This minister is the main character of the short story. She is a catholic and her name is Evie. She
works at a prison and has been working there for 5 years. She finds comfort in praying because she
finds the brutality in prison intimidating.
Evie has to deliver her first death notice on her own. It is to an inmate named Victor. Victors
grandmother has passed away, and Evie wants to do everything right. For Evie, it is easier to judge the
inmates than to relate to them. She sees them as some kind of villains. When she delivers the bad news
to Victor, Evie doesn t understand Victors reaction. She was sure he would begin to cry, but he doesn t.
She expected Victor was a brutal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But as the reader, we might know. His way of reacting to death is different from the reaction Evie
would have.
The short story has an open ending. It is up to the reader to decide if the experience has made Evie
develop. Even though the final sentence where the butterfly knife is used as a metaphor for Victor,
indicates that she hasn t developed. She wanders back to the chapel trying to imagine a butterfly knife
and the damage it could wreak and wondering at the strangeness of how a thing so hard and sharp,
designed to cut, slice and stab, could be named after something so delicate and easy to kill. (P. 6, l.

Evie doesn t understand how a calm intelligent young man can be such a coldblooded killer.
There is a conflict between expectations and reality. It is stressed by the use of contrasts. While Victor
is this good looking boy, there is a large prison guard with a skin

Essay On Spanish Immigration
In recent news, the headlines have been covering the devastation in Syria. We have seen a huge
increment in the number of Syrians trying to find refuge in their neighboring European countries. The
earliest form of migration was almost two million years ago by the Homo erectus specie. They
traveled from Africa to Eurasia, but there is no evidence as to why they migrated. The first piece of
evidence this essay will present is that of Ponce de Leon, according to NYU s publications, Ponce de
Leon was a Spaniard on a quest to find the fountain of youth (Fernandez para. 1). According to much

According to Emmigration.info, The history of English Immigration to America began in the 1600 s
when England established colonies on the east coast of North America (English Immigration para. 1).
This tells us that the official start of immigration began in the 1600s when the English came to
America to establish colonies and begin some world changing events. The reason this would be world
changing exactly, would be because before this, during the Spanish colonization of South America, the
eastern hemisphere essentially thought there was nothing more to the world. They thought that their
land was all there was and nothing was beyond their coasts. In addition, the English Immigration to
America was at first based on obtaining profit from the new lands but quickly changed as people
decided to move from England to escape religious and political prosecution (English Immigration
para. 4). This would explain that the English mainly sought to receive some money from either their
country or from the resources that were available in the land. The government in England actually
offered its people money if they had made the dangerous voyage to northern America and in addition
to that money, whatever they produced in the colonies would make them profit as the English

The Abolition Of Slavery And The Civil War
Throughout American history there have been numerous civil rights movements and shifts of thoughts
and beliefs. One of the largest and arguably the most impactful movement was the movement to end
slavery. America has always been divided on the issue, and even to this day there are harsh sentiments
between different ethnicities. America made an official decision on the matter following a brutal and
violent civil war. The Thirteenth Amendment was passed on January 31st, 1865 and read: Neither
slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been
duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. This
amendment followed Abraham Lincoln s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Senate actually passed the amendment in 1864, yet the House of Representatives did not. Through
Abraham Lincoln s efforts with the Republican party, the House eventually decided to pass the
amendment with a vote of 119 to 56 in January, 1865. This established the Thirteenth Amendment as
part of the U.S. Constitution, only needing ratification by three fourths of the states. It was officially
adopted on December 6, 1865 and was a Constitutional amendment. Of the remaining states, all but
three had ratified it by 1870. Delaware ratified it in 1901, while Kentucky and Mississippi did not
ratify it until the second half of the 20th century. Kentucky ratified the Thirteenth Amendment in 1976
and Mississippi did not ratify it until 1995 (History Net, n.d.). The inclusion of the Thirteenth
Amendment in the U.S. Constitution meant that this particular issue was widespread and was also very
controversial. It put an end to one of the bloodiest American conflicts and also established boundaries
that America was to be a free country where everyone is meant to be equal. The abolition of slavery
was necessary to patch a divided country and to free those who had been forced to spend their lives

Attaining Virtue in The Republic of Plato
In the Republic of Plato, the philosopher Socrates lays out his notion of the good, and draws the
conclusion that virtue must be attained before one can be good. For Socrates there are two kinds of
virtue; collective and individual. Collective virtue is virtue as whole, or the virtues of the city.
Individual virtue pertains to the individual himself, and concerns the acts that the individual does, and
concerns the individual s soul. For Socrates, the relationship between individual and collective virtue
is that they are the same, as the virtues of the collective parallel those of the Individual. This
conclusion can be reached as both the city and the soul deal with the four main virtues of wisdom,
courage, moderation, and justice.
To be begin with, an individual cannot be good until they have attained the virtue of wisdom, and the
same can be said for the city. For the individual, the person must not only be wise himself, but his soul
must have wisdom. The only way to achieve this according to Socrates, is through for philosophy. In
this way it is the same for the city, for in the city, wisdom lies with the guardians as they are the
philosophers. The guardians are put in charge of the city because of their knowledge of how the city
should be run. Because of this, the Guardians wisdom becomes the City s. (Book IV)
The second virtue that must be attained is courage. For the Individual, courage must be in the soul to
resist temptations, and to be ready to fight. The same is for

Political Participation Of Women Essay
Country: Germany Committee: UN Women Topic: Encouraging Political Participation by Women
School: Williamston High School Delegate: Lia Bommarito Throughout history, women were not seen
as equal to men. Even in 2017, marginalization and oppression still persists in many regions and
states. Because of a long history of sexism and institutionalized that dates back to the first functional
societies, women are discouraged from participating in society politically. Oftentimes the political
participation of a group can be measured by active voting, as well as how many parliament seats are
held by women in each country; as of June 2016, only 22.8 percent of parlimentarians were women, a

As for parliament participation, Germany is higher than the world average with a 39.1 percent

Merkel s leadership, German sexism in politics still exists; despite the Chancellor being a woman, not
many lower or mid level governmental positions are held by women. Alice Schwarzer, the country s
best known feminist, lends her quote to this issue: Since 2005, little girls can decide: Do I become a
hairdresser or chancellor? While the state of gendered politics and participation may outwardly seem
fantastic, Germany still struggles with uplifting women; the climate for German women in politics is
icy, but warmer than most nations. Germany does not have to deal with fundamental problems, such as
removing all de facto restrictions on women s suffrage, or dealing with assault on women for seeking
education or leadership politically. However, Germany attempts to manage the onslaught of hidden
problems such as a wage gap higher than the European average, lack of political representation in
parliament, and feminist being percieved with a negative connotation. Whether or not Germany must
handle fundamental issues, the international community has many nations still living in the midst of
misogyny. There is no nation that still does not allow women to vote; however,

When I watch a movie from the 50s, the first thing I notice is the way they talk and sound. It is
unusual for me and my generation to adjust to that weird old timey voice. It sounds a little like a blend
between American English and a form of British English. This type of pronunciation is called the
Transatlantic, or Mid Atlantic, accent. It doesn t naturally evolving, the Transatlantic accent was
acquired. This means that people in the United States were taught to speak in this voice. Historically
Transatlantic speech was the hallmark of aristocratic America and theater. In upper class boarding
schools across New England, students learned the Transatlantic accent as an international norm for
communication, similar to the way posh British society used Received Pronunciation essentially, the
way the Queen and aristocrats are taught to speak. In addition to that In the 50 s people and the

Kate Chopin s An Hour
Author Kate Chopin is famous for some of the most influential feminist stories and novels in the
Western canon. The Story of an Hour is one such text. In this story, Chopin tackles many of the
concerns that are essential to feminism, including the willpower and expression of a woman s
distinctive identity separate from the identity of her husband and the right of a woman to identify and
experience her own interests. While there is an aspect of this story that is provocative, namely, that
Mrs. Mallard feels excited after learning that her husband has died, the reader can empathize with
Mrs. Mallard s feelings and support her.
Critics on Kate Chopin seem to focus their criticism on her themes and particular text than her overall
writing skills. One popular book for critics seems to be her novel The Awakening. The book is now
herald as her greatest work, yet when it was written reviewers rejected it for its improper and vulgar
subject matter (Stripe). One critic deems it not a healthy book, and another determine that it leaves one
sick of human nature. One writer even said the language to describe the story was not fit for
publication (Stripe). But today The Awakening is widely embraced, and one critic in embracing the
book said, Mrs. Kate Chopin s The Awakening, seems to me to be the finest novel of its sort written by
an American, and to rank among the world s masterpieces of short fiction (Cantwell).
The short story is a powerful tale about a woman, Mrs.

Ethical Implications Of An Ethical Argument
There are many ethical topics for which people have vastly different views. The reasons for these
views can vary among every person. When people have an opinion on an ethical topic it is there
ethical judgment or their conclusion on the matter. For many opinions there are ethical reasons that
would cause the opinions. An ethical argument is an argument or discussion based in ethical reasoning
for why one opinion is right over another. An ethical argument must be based around right and wrong,
not around economics, politics, or popular culture. Although someone may have a valid reason that is
not ethical for his or her opinion on a subject the argument is not considered an ethical argument
unless the reasoning is ethical. For example someone may believe abortion is wrong because you are
killing a developing human. This would be an ethical argument. Saying abortion is wrong because it
can cost taxpayers money is not an ethical argument. In ethics there are ethical dilemmas and ethical
conflicts. The two seem the same, though they are not. An ethical dilemma is when someone must
choose between two potentially correct morals. Both could be considered right for a different reason.
For example, in Divergent both Tris and Caleb, along with many other young people have to decide
between faction or blood at the choosing ceremony. They have to decide whether their family is more
important or their future is more important. Family could be considered an ethical

Ralph Waldo Emerson Theory
Ralph Waldo Emerson was born on May 25, 1803, in Boston, Massachusetts to Ruth Haskins Emerson
and William Emerson, minister (Waldo, 1983). Emerson eventually grew up to also become a leader in
the Church. The social environment of Boston at the turn of the nineteenth century would
progressively be stamped by the conflict between its more seasoned conservation values and the
radical change developments and social optimists that were risen in the decades leading through the
1840s. Emerson was one of five surviving children. Waldo, as Emerson was called, entered Harvard at
age fourteen, instructed in the summer, held tables, and with his brother Edward, composed papers for
other understudies to pay his costs. Graduating in the center of his course, Emerson instructed in his
brother William s school until 1825 when he entered the Holiness School at Harvard (Waldo, 1983).
Emerson also opened his own school in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The design of Emerson s mental
life was molded in his early years. Ralph Waldo Emerson became known as the voice of intellectual
culture in the United States.
Emerson s early life also included preaching after being ordained in 1829 to serve the Old Second
Church until it no longer pleased him in 1831. The early death of his wife, Ellen Tucker, from
tuberculosis caused Emerson to give up on the church and resign in 1932. He began to engage in
altercations often with the church about Communion and public prayer. In one of his essays he wrote,

Social Injustice In To Kill A Mockingbird
Justice has long been considered something that is important to the success of a society. However
justice in itself is something that is hard to achieve. Recently in the news, a story has arisen regarding
a father who was not able to afford a lawyer, due to this he was not able to see his kids for five years.
This is what some people would call political injustice, a case in which someone s given rights have
been ignored. This is very common despite people saying that justice should be given to all people.
Social injustice is a case in which people are affected by less government and law related issues,
including, environmental rights, civil rights, and an access to education. This can be also seen clearly
in To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Through the society that Harper Lee portrays in her novel
she suggests that justice is something worth fighting for. Examples of both social and polítical
injustice becomes apparent.
Social injustice is a common theme throughout the novel. This can appear in cases of stereotypes.
Many people in the town of Maycomb have families that are over generalized. Such as the
Cunninghams, who never took anything they can t pay back. (Lee 26). However some of these
stereotypes are very inaccurate. For instance, Walter Cunningham went to dinner with the Finches,
this was something that he could not pay back, but he did it anyway. Or when Scout was able to help
snap Mr.Cunningham back to reality when he was trying to intimidate Atticus.

I am going to share an incredible, breathtaking day in my life.
Earlier this year I attended Lady Gaga s sold out show, The Joanne World Tour in Edmonton on
August 3rd It was her second show after it kicked off in Vancouver.
My friend Kylie and I woke up at 4:45am to get ready. We showered, put on makeup and got our
outfits ready. My outfit was made a week prior to the show.
A leather jacket hot glued with diamonds, jewels and rhinestones with a red cross painted in the
middle on the back a reference to her song Judas . The words Lady Gaga were glitter painted on the
top and bottom, and under it I wore a Lady Gaga shirt, the rest of the outfit, glitter leggings and the
boots bedazzled with rhinestones.
We were ready by 6am, we then drove to the Rogers Centre arena. When we arrived at the arena, we
were lost and did not know how to get into the building, we decided to message other fans who were
already inside on Instagram, they replied right away and said Go to the back and come up to the third
floor, by ticket sales by the time we found out where to go it was about 7:30 am. We went up to the
third floor and three other people were waiting for General Admission, the closest seats possible, the

Reaction About Osiris
Osiris is the Egyptian great god decreed as the Lord of the Underworld and Judge of the Dead (Pich,
2002, p. 178). He was the first son of the earth god Geb and the sky goddess Nut. He was married to
his sister Isis, whom he ruled Egypt with, until he was murdered by Seth, his jealous and vengeful
brother. After his death, Osiris went into a coma like state.
Most textual evidence accounts as Osiris being born wearing a crown (Pich, 2002, p. 128). The sun
god Ra himself chose Osiris to succeed his father, Geb. A few sources state a struggle for power
between Osiris and Geb. Kom Ombo even claimed in a text that Osiris was born again after his death
when his father Geb and his grandfather Shu merged together.

Lord of the Underworld. Osiris could hence be also worshipped as an agricultural fertility deity.

Recommendations A recommendation that would be beneficial for Kudler is to provide online
ordering. This will allow customers to check out Kudler s website, and this can be a way that Kudler
can track how many people view their website daily. This will also allow Kudler to follow the areas
such as zip codes to do mailouts, this would advertise their company and their products. Another
recommendation that needs to be made is to have one set of GL codes for all three locations. They
should have one inventory report that shows all of their products whether it is at another location. This
will make it easier for management to follow the inventory lists and to pay more attention to the
products that are being sold quicker than others. This will save time having to pull inventory reports
for each location and to see what they sold. Since Kudler orders their products from around the world,
I think it would be a good idea to have an international GL code for those items that are purchased in
different parts of the world. This will also let the customer know where the item that they re
purchasing originated. This will make Kudler unique by giving other countries recognition to products
that are produced in their parts of the world. According to Microsoft, if you are required to use the
exact group of records repetitively, for example, when operators are paging in a grid, it can be
competent to fill up those records into a dataset

The Effects of the Influenza Virus Essay
Influenza: The Virus and its Effects
Abstract
The flu, properly called influenza, is an amazingly widespread and widely known disease. There are
many variations of the influenza virus, differing in severity, but not significantly different in function.
The influenza virus infects epithelial cells in the respiratory tract, taking over the cell s production
mechanisms so more viruses are produced, eventually causing the host cells to burst. The body s
immune system tries to combat the infection from succeeding. This internal battle produces many
outward symptoms including a fever and dry cough, among others. Influenza is not usually a fatal
disease, but its high mutation rate insures its continuing import by allowing it to return in ... Show

An example of an influenza virus is H3N2. (Wilschut 29)
The influenza virus is a rather typical virus. It is roughly spherically shaped but is able to change
shape somewhat. The particles rang from 80 to 120 nm in diameter. (Wilschut 29 31) Type A viruses
are made of 10 proteins and eight strands of RNA. (USinfo) Influenza viruses are characterized by
having an external layer of about 500 spike like projections. The spikes are either rod like or
mushroom shaped projections. The rod like spikes represent the envelope glycoprotein HA and the
mushroom shaped ones are the NA. There are about four times more HA spikes than Nan (Wilschut
31)
The influenza virus keeps reappearing because it can mutate easily. Influenza is caused by an RNA
virus, meaning that the DNA is stored in the form of RNA chains, not in DNA like ours (UCSC). RNA
viruses have higher mutation rates than DNA viruses. Influenza circulates in the fall and winter
months. As the virus travels around the world infecting people the RNA that codes for either the N or
H antigen will usually mutate. When the H or N antigen mutates, the bodies antibodies loose their
ability to bind to it. Usually either the H or N antigen remains the same so the body has antibodies to
one of the two, allowing it to so it will have partial protection to the disease. In this circumstance, the
infection will

Analyse the contribution that Paul of Tarsus had on the development and expression of Christianity.
Paul of Tarsus or Saint Paul is considered by many Christians today to be the most important disciple
of Jesus, and beside this the second important found in the development of Christianity. Saint Paul had

He became an advocate for the inclusion of the Gentiles among the true followers of Christianity.
Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and follow
the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the synagogue but did
not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class citizens in the synagogue.
As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian Gentiles,
believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church fellowship and for
the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief, (Galatians 2: 11 14) most
strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders
to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves
Christians.
Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more
freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. (Christianity vs. Judaism
worksheet).
Paul s writings on social issues were just as influential on the life and beliefs of the Christian culture,
and are still considered part and parcel of the broader Christian doctrine by the more conservative
Christians.

Differences Between The Crucible Movie And Movie
The Crucible, an original play written by Arthur Miller, has had a multitude of adaptations come out
after its release in 1953. Among these adaptations are the movie, The Crucible, directed by Nicholas
Hytner and starring Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder and local performances of the play, such as
the one seen at the Civic Theatre. The Crucible is about the people of Salem, MA and trouble of the
accusations of witchery after Abigail, the niece of Reverend Parris, has an affair with the married John
Proctor and he denies her when she attempts to do it again. Specifically, Abigail s reaction to the
rejection in the movie is portrayed so much more realistic than it is in the play and the entire cast
portraying their characters realistically for how it was appropriate for the setting of the movie.
Although the movie was exceptional in content, the universal portrayal of the characters was better in
the movie. Overall, The Crucible movie version, directed by Nicholas Hytner, portrayed the characters
better the play because Winona Ryder portrayed Abigail Williams better than the written play did, and
the cast as a whole worked together to create the mood of the historical time period of both the Salem
Witch Trials and the communist era. Additionally, even though the written play was amazing due to it
being first , the movie was still better at portraying the development of the characters.

Landfill Storage Sites For The Underground Water Resources
Increasing numbers of natural resources are consumed by modern society, causing growing demands
of waste disposals at the same time. Statistical results showed that landfill facilities had been used as a
main solid waste disposal approach in the past decades. Landfill leachate is the one of primary
concerns of landfill operation. Application of reliable barriers underneath waste disposal sites to
protect underground water resources has become an important research subject. However, any defect
of liner systems can put environment at risk due to the possible leakage. A large number of factors
could cause the landfill liner failures in different ways. One of the main factor is provided by not
enough interface shear strength of the composite liner.
Landfills liner is composed of various geosynthetic and soil components (Jogi, 2005). For domestic
waste systems, the basic structure unit of landfill liner is normally regarded as geosynthetic layer in
contact with compacted clay layer (CCLs) for municipal solid waste landfill. Historical statistics show
side slope liner failures caused by liner sliding able to happen at the interface between CCLs and
geomembrane when the interface have a low shear resistance. The shear strength is probably further
decreased by the presence of water (Reddy 1999). Generally the local clay can be used as compacted
clay liner for economic considerations. Leda clay is a typical type of sensitive marine clay which

Anastrozole (Arimidex) is the aromatase inhibitor of choice. The drug is appropriately used when
using substantial amounts of aromatizing steroids, or when one is prone to gynecomastia and using
moderate amounts of such steroids. Arimidex does not have the side effects of aminoglutethimide
(Cytadren) and can achieve a high degree of estrogen blockade, much moreso than Cytadren. It is
possible to reduce estrogen too much with Arimidex, and for this reason blood tests, or less preferably
salivary tests, should be taken after the first week of use to determine if the dosing is correct. As an
aromatase inhibitor, Arimidex s mechanism of action blocking conversion of aromatizable steroids to
estrogen is in contrast to the mechanism of action of anti estrogens such as clomiphene (Clomid) or
tamoxifen (Nolvadex), which block estrogen receptors in some tissues, and activate estrogen receptors
in others. During a cycle, if using Arimidex, there is generally no need to use Clomid as well,

estrogen, progesterone, and synthetic progestin as the hormones in question. However, researchers did
not identify the ultimate reason why these hormones were important to women who experienced
menopause. In fact, the researchers did not define postmenopausal women, the symptoms they
experience, or the need for hormone treatment. This presents a minor flaw; without detailing the
importance of the study, it gives off the perception that the researchers were only researching a
particular topic they were interested in, comparing studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with the references that they provided, they did not extract the information and present it in a
way that made it comparable, detail by detail, to estrogen and progesterone. They were able to list why
synthetic progestin was a risk, but not as to why it was a benefit, or why synthetic progestin was being
administered in the first place for hormonal treatment. Even on line 6, on page 3, the researchers
stated despite the significant distinctions between progesterone and synthetic progestins... , but failed
to identify the significant distinctions between them. On page 2, line 15, they stated that progesterone
is likely to be more beneficial and carry fewer risks than its synthetic counterpart , but did not include
an analysis of the difference, or why cognitively they are important.
The researchers emphasized the need for a closer investigation of progesterone effects in
postmenopausal women, but continue to exclaim that it is potentially so much better than synthetic
progestin or estrogen. Results from previous studies were not operationalized to be used within means
of this study. Often, throughout the paper, the researchers use terms such as variable, general, almost
uniformly, or mostly, to describe results. However, it is difficult to distinguish the significance of the
references they are using because the claims are generalized. The few studies they

In A Society Where So Much Emphasis Is Placed On The Way
In a society where so much emphasis is placed on the way one looks, it s no surprise that one could be
self conscious about their body image. As a result, there are some who take drastic actions in order to
maintain this distorted image of themselves. These actions can not only affect the way an individual
perceives themselves, but it also could have more serious, life threatening consequences, including
death. Nonetheless, treatment and recovery are possible. Anorexia Nervosa, also known as anorexia,
involves intense emotions and abnormal behaviors that typically revolves around food and weight and
out of all the psychiatric conditions, it has the highest death rate ( Anorexia nervosa; Anorexia: Signs,
Symptoms, Causes Treatment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While there are two different types of anorexia, their symptoms and assumed causes are relatively the
same. Goldberg (2016) notes that although anorexia essentially means loss of appetite, this definition
is inaccurate as people with this disorder are in fact, hungry, but refuse to eat. Individuals suffering
from anorexia, tend to have an obsessive fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, so they start
behaving in ways that causes them to lose an excessive amount of weight, by either restricting the
amount of food consumed, exercising too much, or starving themselves (Anorexia Nervosa: Signs,
Symptoms, Causes, And Treatment; Smith, Melinda, M.A., and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D). These
individuals have a distorted perception of themselves, believing that they are too fat, when they are in
fact underweight, as well as overly weighing themselves to see if they gained any weight, overly
obsessing over food labels and nutrition, and developing strange eating habits, such as cutting food
into tiny pieces, eating alone, and/or hiding food; In addition. people struggling with this disorder tend
to have a low self esteem, feel hopeless, and become socially withdrawn from family, friends, and
activities they once enjoyed. ( Anorexia: Signs, Symptoms, Causes Treatment Help; Smith, Melinda,
M.A., and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D; Goldberg, Joseph, MD). Although an exact cause of anorexia is
unknown, it is believed that it can develop as a result of a combination of biological,

  • 2. Special Effects and Scenes from The Day After Tomorrow Some scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow were very plausible and likely to occur in real life, while others were simply made from special effects and could most likely never occur in day to day life. One very possible scene was animals sensing the weather and being able to escape before a massive storm was soon to hit. According to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can animals predict disaster/tall tales or true/131/, Plenty of studies have shown that some animals can sense major changes in the weather. Worms, for instance, are known to flee rising groundwater. Birds are known to be sensitive to air pressure changes, and often hunker down before a big storm. And in Florida, researchers studying tagged sharks say they flee to deeper water just before a big hurricane arrives. They also may be sensing the air and water pressure changes caused by the big storm. Another plausible scene in the movie is tornadoes being so powerful and strong that they can pick up cars and throw them forcefully into the air. One example that backs up this statement is, In a scene straight out of a blockbuster disaster movie, big rig trucks were tossed high into the air like toys when huge tornadoes slammed into Dallas yesterday (April 3). The National Weather Service said today that the damage in Texas, which included hundreds of homes, suggested one of the twisters was an EF2, meaning the winds gusted between 111 and 135 mph (179 217 kph). Videos of the truck tossing tornado ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Poem Analysis Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night One of the key aspects of poetry is the theme of a poem. Through his writing, Dylan Thomas is a good example of how to use many different methods to display the feeling and emotion behind his writing. One example of his skill in this area is in the poem Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night . This poem has a theme about fighting against death, which is seen through the use of literary devices such as repetition, symbolism, and rhyme scheme. One way that the poem demonstrates its theme is through its use of repetition. This can be seen through the repetition of the phrase do not go gentle into that good night throughout the poem. As this phrase is also the title of the poem, it clearly has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in the context of the poem, it also emphasizes how even though these people know this, they still fight. This symbolism helps to keep the reader invested in the poem. Another example of symbolism is seen in the quote wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight This quote emphasizes the other part of the symbolism, how light represents life. In this quote, this symbolism is carried out by using the sun to represent light. The sun represents the life in the wild men . These men represent how the author feels that people should live when faced with the threat of death. Lastly, the poem uses the literary device rhyme scheme to demonstrate its theme. The first place that this can be seen is in the line old age should burn and rave at close of day . This line is one of the first in the rhyme scheme. This poem is a villanelle, which has a very specific rhyme scheme. This is a difficult rhyme scheme to use in English because there aren t that many words that rhyme. It takes a lot of skill for a writer to create an emotion poem with this form. The use of this rhyme scheme helps to keep the entire poem connected. A second example of the effect this rhyme scheme has is in the quote and you, my father there on the sad height; Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray . These are 2 of the final lines of the poem. These lines reveal to the reader who the poem is about, and why the subject matter is so important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though many critics of Celgene would call the corporation s decision to raise prices a genuinely greedy and selfish act, Smith sees nothing wrong with such a move. On this issue Smith states that an individuals self centered motives often improve society: By pursuing his own interests he frequently promotes that of the society more effectually than when he really intends to promote it (Donaldson, 167). Given Celgene s perceived self centered actions, Smith would note that this type of free market behavior is positive and is guided by an invisible hand which helps such behavior to be beneficial to society as a whole. The next philosopher to be examined would argue that the invisible hand that Smith speaks of is indeed separate from the political realm. Milton Friedman continues with Smith s line of logic as he asserts that the chief concern of the businessman must be to make a profit under socially acceptable means and that the defining of social responsibilities must be left in the political sphere. Celgene s chief executive, John Jackson, was the primary force behind the company s decision to raise prices. Jackson s actions are perfectly ethical according to Friedman who writes, What does it mean to say that the corporate executive has a social responsibility in his capacity as a businessman? Effective managers have the ability to get things done through other people. This is accomplished by motivating employees to accomplish tasks. A manager must be able to delegate these tasks to employees. The technique a manager uses to motivate employees to work for him, will either motivate or dissatisfy employees. Some employees see non genuine encouragement as management being fake and trying to get one over on them. This will make the managers job much more difficult. Encouragement doesn t cost the company anything and it s in all managers best interest to practice it freely and regularly. Transformational leadership is about empowerment, cooperation and shared responsibilities. (Davidhizar 1997, 20) So managers must be comfortable with all forms of encouragement. Also, when positive actions are encouraged those actions are more likely to be repeated. Many managers only punish negative behavior never reinforcing positive behavior. When employees are constantly punished they learn not to vary from what is safe. Managers that reprimand are usually the type of managers that leave very little of an employees job to the imagination. This type of management style leads to employees being unmotivated, because the job doesn t let them use their abilities. In part A of this experiment, the molarity of an assigned concentration which was 0.040, was found using formulas that represent molarity. Part B of this experiment, which was titration of an acid and base, was found by a series of steps that involved dropping Sodium Hydroxide from a buret into vinegar, until the perfect shade of pale pink occurred. With the Phenolphthalein, too much acid causes the base to turn a dark pink. The molarity was then found of the titration. So the end results will determine M HCH3O2. Introduction A solution is a homogenous mixture of a solvent and one or more solutes. The substance that dissolves in the solute is the solvent, and the solute is what gets dissolved. Solutions can vary in concentration in great ratio differences. It is very important to be able to correctly prepare solutions. There is always a proper amount of solution to be made to have a desired amount of produced. So in the medical world, too much solute will most likely have harmful effects like overdosing and too little could result in ineffective treatment. They say this because pitbulls are often documented for attacks, and being danger to their communities. Do you agree? I don,t. To me, it makes no sense to why they are bad pets. Just because they can attack doesn t mean they are all a danger, or a hazard. Here is why I think that. One reason is that they can help and warn people. A thing that a lot of people don t understand is that pitbulls are very loyal to their owner. That is why they are often guard dogs. Because of their loyalty, they have helped in the military. In the early 1900s, there was a pitbull named Stubby who became a military hero for warning the soldiers of a gas leak that could have killed them. He saved many lives that day. This tells us that the official start of immigration began in the 1600s when the English came to America to establish colonies and begin some world changing events. The reason this would be world changing exactly, would be because before this, during the Spanish colonization of South America, the eastern hemisphere essentially thought there was nothing more to the world. They thought that their land was all there was and nothing was beyond their coasts. In addition, the English Immigration to America was at first based on obtaining profit from the new lands but quickly changed as people decided to move from England to escape religious and political prosecution (English Immigration para. 4). This would explain that the English mainly sought to receive some money from either their country or from the resources that were available in the land. Attaining Virtue in The Republic of Plato In the Republic of Plato, the philosopher Socrates lays out his notion of the good, and draws the conclusion that virtue must be attained before one can be good. For Socrates there are two kinds of virtue; collective and individual. Collective virtue is virtue as whole, or the virtues of the city. Individual virtue pertains to the individual himself, and concerns the acts that the individual does, and concerns the individual s soul. For Socrates, the relationship between individual and collective virtue is that they are the same, as the virtues of the collective parallel those of the Individual. This conclusion can be reached as both the city and the soul deal with the four main virtues of wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice. To be begin with, an individual cannot be good until they have attained the virtue of wisdom, and the same can be said for the city. For the individual, the person must not only be wise himself, but his soul must have wisdom. The only way to achieve this according to Socrates, is through for philosophy. In this way it is the same for the city, for in the city, wisdom lies with the guardians as they are the philosophers. The guardians are put in charge of the city because of their knowledge of how the city should be run. Because of this, the Guardians wisdom becomes the City s. When people have an opinion on an ethical topic it is there ethical judgment or their conclusion on the matter. For many opinions there are ethical reasons that would cause the opinions. An ethical argument is an argument or discussion based in ethical reasoning for why one opinion is right over another. An ethical argument must be based around right and wrong, not around economics, politics, or popular culture. Although someone may have a valid reason that is not ethical for his or her opinion on a subject the argument is not considered an ethical argument unless the reasoning is ethical. The social environment of Boston at the turn of the nineteenth century would progressively be stamped by the conflict between its more seasoned conservation values and the radical change developments and social optimists that were risen in the decades leading through the 1840s. • 26. Social Injustice In To Kill A Mockingbird Justice has long been considered something that is important to the success of a society. However justice in itself is something that is hard to achieve. Recently in the news, a story has arisen regarding a father who was not able to afford a lawyer, due to this he was not able to see his kids for five years. This is what some people would call political injustice, a case in which someone s given rights have been ignored. This is very common despite people saying that justice should be given to all people. Social injustice is a case in which people are affected by less government and law related issues, including, environmental rights, civil rights, and an access to education. This can be also seen clearly in To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Through the society that Harper Lee portrays in her novel she suggests that justice is something worth fighting for. Examples of both social and polítical injustice becomes apparent. Social injustice is a common theme throughout the novel. This can appear in cases of stereotypes. Many people in the town of Maycomb have families that are over generalized. Such as the Cunninghams, who never took anything they can t pay back. (Lee 26). However some of these stereotypes are very inaccurate. For instance, Walter Cunningham went to dinner with the Finches, this was something that he could not pay back, but he did it anyway. There are many variations of the influenza virus, differing in severity, but not significantly different in function. The influenza virus infects epithelial cells in the respiratory tract, taking over the cell s production mechanisms so more viruses are produced, eventually causing the host cells to burst. The body s immune system tries to combat the infection from succeeding. This internal battle produces many outward symptoms including a fever and dry cough, among others. The particles rang from 80 to 120 nm in diameter. (Wilschut 29 31) Type A viruses are made of 10 proteins and eight strands of RNA. (USinfo) Influenza viruses are characterized by having an external layer of about 500 spike like projections. The spikes are either rod like or mushroom shaped projections. The rod like spikes represent the envelope glycoprotein HA and the mushroom shaped ones are the NA. There are about four times more HA spikes than Nan (Wilschut 31) The influenza virus keeps reappearing because it can mutate easily. Influenza is caused by an RNA virus, meaning that the DNA is stored in the form of RNA chains, not in DNA like ours (UCSC). RNA viruses have higher mutation rates than DNA viruses. Influenza circulates in the fall and winter months. As the virus travels around the world infecting people the RNA that codes for either the N or H antigen will usually mutate. When the H or N antigen mutates, the bodies antibodies loose their ability to bind to it. Usually either the H or N antigen remains the same so the body has antibodies to one of the two, allowing it to so it will have partial protection to the disease. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves Christians. Statistical results showed that landfill facilities had been used as a main solid waste disposal approach in the past decades. Landfill leachate is the one of primary concerns of landfill operation. Application of reliable barriers underneath waste disposal sites to protect underground water resources has become an important research subject. However, any defect of liner systems can put environment at risk due to the possible leakage. A large number of factors could cause the landfill liner failures in different ways. One of the main factor is provided by not enough interface shear strength of the composite liner. Landfills liner is composed of various geosynthetic and soil components (Jogi, 2005). For domestic waste systems, the basic structure unit of landfill liner is normally regarded as geosynthetic layer in contact with compacted clay layer (CCLs) for municipal solid waste landfill. Historical statistics show side slope liner failures caused by liner sliding able to happen at the interface between CCLs and geomembrane when the interface have a low shear resistance.
