Dense Blazing Star produces long stems adorned with purple fluffy blooms that open from the bottom up and begin to bloom in summer. Its unusual texture and height of 3-6 feet make it perfect vertical accent for mid-to-back border. Performing best in full sun and moist but well-drained soils, this plant is a pleasure in both a naturalized or traditional garden.

Also called Marsh Blazing Star, it attracts a variety of bees, butterflies, and skippers. It is also a host plant to several Moth species. Goldfinches enjoy the seeds.
