    Peace and blessings of ALLAH be
    upon our prophet, Mohammad
    'O Lord, he said "Ya Rabb! Lakal-
    hamdu kama yanbagi li-jalali
    Wajhika wa li'azima sultanika (O
    Lord, to You is praise as befits
    the Glory of Your Face and the
    greatness of your Might).'

    How can we find them?
    “Rights and Duties”
    To navigate any issue, we have to search for the Islamic
    basis of it to measure the correctness of our acts.

    We have two main bases that we will start out from


    them; those are the Holy Quran and the Noble Sunnah.
     First base is from the Holy Koran. ALLAH, the
    Almighty, said:
    ً َ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ ُ َ َ ُ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ ُّ َ َ َ َ
    23 ‫» أّلٰرساأ‬.....‫ن ِأحسانا‬
    ٰ ِ ‫ك أ ّٰل تعبدوأ ِأ ّٰل ِأيا ٰه و ِبالوأ ِلدي‬
    ٰ ‫«وقضىٰ رب‬
     Second base is the Noble Sunnah. Our Prophet
    Mohammad, peace and blessings be upon him said:
    َْ ‫ ْفَلَي‬،‫يرنَا‬
    ).‫س ِمنا‬ ِ ‫ َويَعْ ِرفْ َحقْ َك ِب‬،‫يرنَا‬ َ ْ‫( َمنْ لَمْ يَر َحم‬
    َ ‫ص ِغ‬
    ‫صحيح األلباني‬
    "Anyone who does not show mercy to our children nor
    acknowledge the right of our old people is not one of us."
    We can conclude rights and duties from Islamic law.

    Rights and Duties

    Old people have We carry the duty


    the right to live to help the people
    dignified life in need, as possible
    Who is the first one that must help?
    According to the Holy Koran and the noble Sunnah, we
    are contacting two main types of old people.

     First type includes our parents.


     Second type includes other old people, i.e. relatives
    or non-relatives.
    So, we can classify old people as follows:
    Old People
    Needs

    Do not have
    Have sons
    sons

    Care Money Treatment House

    Physical Moral Foods Drinks Clothes


    SONS are the first people must take care of their parents.

    ALLAH, the Almighty, has decreed to parents, good


    treatment.
    SONS
    Because that not all old people have sons, then the
    responsibility may move to relatives then non-relatives,
    respectively, as a care giver.
    Relatives have the priority dealing in Benevolence over
    non-relatives.

    Also, in Islamic society, people of non-relatives must take


    care of each others. So, non-relatives comes in the next
    level of united society.
    We can summarize the priority in roles towards old
    people,

    Relatives
    SONS and Non-
    relatives

    SONS
    SONS

    Relatives

    Non-relatives

    Civil work

    Governmental level
    By applying this rule mutually,
     In your close circle:
    Take care of your parents and their needs

     In your medium circle:


    Do good with your relative old people

     In your larger circle:


    You can search for non-relative old people
    So, you will absorb the Islamic rules, then translate it in
    your actions using the available tools in your time, and
    according the conditions around you.

    Remember that, Act and its tools must be all Halal.

    Collection of Sadaqat from relatives and friends (small-scale)

    If on official level, donations can be collected in large-scale (from other


    people- companies- businessmen- through Internet…etc.)
