DID YOU KNOW?

  • Australia is an island. In fact, it is the biggest island in the world. Apart from being an island, it is also a continent, but it is the smallest of all the continents in the world. Australia is the 6th biggest country in the world.
  • 20 of the top 25 most venomous snakes come from Australia. In fact, the first 11 are all from Australia.
  • The Great Barrier Reef is the longest reef and the largest living thing in the world. It is 2,010 kms long and is so big it can be seen from space.
  • The longest fence in the world, referred to as the Dingo Fence, runs for 5,531 kilometres through Queensland and South Australia.
  • The national coat of arms of Australia has an emu and a kangaroo on it. This is because neither of these animals can walk backwards, symbolizing a nation moving forward.

MILESTONES

  • 1

    Uluru 16,950km

Probably Australia’s best-known natural landmark. The ancient monolith was created over some 600 million years. It originally sat at the bottom of a sea, but today stands 348m above ground.

  • 2

    Exmouth 19,802km

One of the few areas in Australia that can boast the Range to Reef experience. You can hike through walk trails and gorges offering some of the best views in the west, or indulge in some relaxing at pristine sandy beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters.

  • 3

    Darwin 23,247km

Australia's only tropical capital city, the capital of the Northern Territory is closer to Bali than Bondi. Nature is well and truly part of Darwin's backyard − the famous national parks of Kakadu and Litchfield are only a few hours' drive away, and the unique Tiwi Islands are a boat-ride away.

  • 4

    Bamaga 26,568km

Welcome to the TOP of Australia! If you jog an extra 30km to Cape York, you will be at the most northern point of Australia - a bucket list trip for many Aussies.

  • 5

    Brisbane 29,570km

Australia’s most underrated city is a perfect location to finish lap number 2 of Australia. An energetic river town on the way up, with an edgy arts scene, pumping nightlife, lush parks and historic buildings… all folded into the elbows of the meandering Brisbane River.
