Chris B Feels like a next generation home improvement. It has it's moments and it doesn't take itself seriously. Jim plays a buffoon on purpose and anyone that takes it seriously is one also. It's a comedy sitcom and it's a fairly good show if your not easily offended by how things were in the late 90's early 00's. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/22/23 Full Review Morskyia My husband randomly started watch reruns of this on Netflix or Hulu and I am again reminded how much I hate this show. Jim is a selfish a$$h0l3 and is always thinking of himself first. Does he learn a lesson or something in the end, maybe or maybe not but who cares because there is no character growth. How many lessons in 7 seasons can one learn but come back every episode and still be the same jerk. The second issue is, that as a couple, they are always trying to prove they are right or one up the other. In the show it's light hearted "sparring" but it gets old fast. I like the sister and the brother the best. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The brother sister combo of the wife is wierd. They got those characters very wrong they would be have been better of as wife and husband not brother and sister Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review samir r I really liked the show, although it's nothing special at all. Feels homely, old fashioned now. The Acting is fairly decent because the cast is strong. Kimberly Williams is the beauty from the 10th kingdom so I can't even judge her for appearing here. Their asexual tension with Belushi became the centerpiece of the show's comedic punch. The writing was mediocre at first and by season 3 it really hits the skids. I have no idea how the show managed to survive for 8 seasons. Nonetheless, somehow it is also cathartic and optimistic because things tend to work out every time instead of - like in Friends or How I met your mother - simply falling apart. At least, this is not Roseanne. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review lawrence w Everyone always just looked and sounded miserable. It was as if they all collectively realized that it had been a mistake to accept the pilot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I rlly like According to Jim my favorite show.It came out 4yrs b4 I was born but now Im starting to watch it everyday. Tom Shales Washington Post It's disconcerting to think that since TV transmissions travel almost infinitely into the universe, channel-surfing extraterrestrials might get a glimpse of this show, thus lowering their opinion of Earthlings still further. Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Hal Boedeker Orlando Sentinel Belushi has no chemistry with Courtney Thorne-Smith, who plays his wife, Cheryl. The Ally McBeal star must stand back and smile in amusement at Belushi's antics. Rated: 2/5 Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Laura Fries Variety For the most part the concept is pedestrian and secondary characters are reduced to stereotypes. Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Ben Taylor Nashville Scene A standard family sitcom; there's nothing miserable here, but it's as bland as can be. Jim Belushi and Courtney Thorne-Smith are boring and uninspired, and the rest of the characters are barely more than cardboard cutouts. Feb 26, 2020 Full Review Terry Kelleher People Magazine Belushi's gusto is all this show has going for it. Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Tom Jicha South Florida Sun-Sentinel The new ABC sitcom does not contain one believable moment, the two leads create negative chemistry and the writing is infuriatingly unimaginative and unfunny.
