Hear Drake, Wizkid on Romantic New Song ‘Hush Up the Silence’
Drake reconnected with Nigerian star Wizkid on the new song “Hush Up the Silence,” which debuted on Sunday on Apple’s Beats 1 radio. Like the previous collaborations between the two artists, their latest song as a plush, hazy beat with a touch of skittering drums.
“Starboy, call me number one,” Wizkid sings. “When me tune drop, the girls, they bounce along.” Despite the breezy mood, Drake‘s verse mixes grim reflections on his life in the spotlight. “Jealous people around me, I need to change my life/ I just turn colder every time I try,” he sings. Drake first worked with Wizkid when he hopped on the “Ojuelegba” remix in the summer of 2015. Wizkid subsequently contributed to Drake’s mega-hit “One Dance.”
Drake is currently at work on More Life, which he recently described as a playlist, not an album. His goal with the new project? “To keep people excited, give people new music, let them know that I’m still hungry.” Drake associate Oliver El-Khatib provided listeners with an update on More Life‘s status on Sunday.
“We’re here in London doing these shows, in the studio every night working,” he said on the Beats 1 show. “Everything’s moving along nicely; as soon as it’s done, you guys will be the first to know.”
