The Palm Beach demographic comprises billionaires, CEOs, ambassadors, former spies and even an ex-president.

So when an organization decides to declare somebody a ''star,'' it dang sure better have a candidate who can bring an A-game.

South Florida PBS nailed it, choosing longtime Palm Beacher Tom Quick as the recipient of its 2022 Star of Education Award. Quick was honored at the seventh annual Stars of Education dinner, which took place Dec. 5 at Club Colette.

Michele Kessler was chairwoman for the evening, which began in the courtyard with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and lots of chat about holiday plans.

After cocktails, guests moved to the dining room for dinner and the presentation of the Star of Education Award, which is given to a ''distinguished individual or family who has made an indelible and lasting impact on education in the community, especially for the underserved.''

"Tom is always generous and caring with his time and gifts," Kessler said in her remarks. "It would be impossible to determine the many lives he has enriched. The 2022 Star of Education Award truly embodies Tom’s sincere commitment to bettering our world and especially around education.”

The evening continued with dessert and dancing.

More than 100 people attended, including Lynn Wheat and Tom Petterfy; Deborah Norville and Karl Wellner; Carol and Ambassador Earle Mack; Mickey Beyer; Julie and Mike Conors with son Greg; Hilary and Wilbur Ross; Eileen Burns; Lucy Musso; Nancy Brinker; Hillie Mahoney; Ellen Levy; the honoree's sisters Mary and Tricia Quick; Christopher Drake; and Will Steele, and a bunch more who know the difference between highbrow and highball.

And a few who don't.
