Everglades National Park, one of the wildest areas in the world

Everglades National Park is located in southern Florida, just a 50-minute drive from Miami. It is an extraordinary nature reserve with an area that extends for about 2,413 square miles of marshy land, where it is possible to admire uncontaminated nature inhabited by many animals such as crocodiles and alligators. The Park, characterized by an expanse of water covered by a thin turf interspersed with trees and lush mangrove forests, is the largest subtropical area in the United States. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve.

The largest portion of the vast and wild territory of the Everglades National Park is still completely inaccessible to man, but visitors can discover all the wonders of this extraordinary landscape by taking part in one of the countless guided excursions that are organized every day by Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Orlando. In addition to spectacular tropical vegetation, crocodiles and alligators, the park is also home to many rare and endangered animal species such as the Florida panther and the Caribbean manatee. You may encounter pumas, bobcats, otters, snakes and of course an endless amount of beautiful birds. This is a place like no other, offering one of the most extraordinary and fascinating experiences in the world.

Most Everglades excursions take place aboard airboats, the classic propeller-driven boats, but it is also possible to visit them on foot or by bicycle through the causeways and boardwalks present in the park. Canoes, kayaks and small rowing boats can be rented to discover the secret corners of this immense wonder up close. The best time to visit the park begins towards the end of November and extends until April, which is the least rainy and humid season. However, the humidity is always high and the heat is suffocating, so it is good to have a mosquito repellent spray, sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the scorching sun.
