There's no better way to embrace winter than by taking a leisurely snowshoe walk through the various landscapes at Historic Fort Snelling...

That said, winter has not brought us much snow this year, so we'll make the best of it. Bring your boots! If there is little or no snow, the walk will go on as planned but with a bit of a change. The lack of snow will actually afford us the opportunity to enter into several of the living and working areas of the old Historic Fort. Inside these buildings you'll see first hand how people would cope with winter conditions. If you have any questions please contact the team at Historic Fort Snelling!

Along our half-mile route, we'll make stops to enjoy the view and hear from our knowledgeable staff about how winter conditions were faced by the peoples of the region going back thousands of years.

Warm up with a free hot beverage and by spending time in the Visitor Center (included in your ticket). The tour will last one hour.

Dress for the weather. If event is cancelled due to weather, we will refund ticket or re-schedule to another date if possible.

Tour limited to 25 guests. 25 modern aluminum snowshoes and ski pole of various sizes available with ticket. Additional tickets will be sold on site if the visitor brings personal snowshoe equipment.
