With its delicious range of smash-style burgers and sweet treats, Shakedown has been making a name for itself over the last few years and has all the ingredients to be one of the best burger joints in Manchester.
Such is its popularity, 15,000 of its signature Beefed Up! burgers are sold each month at the Withington and Wythenshawe restaurants and this burger is on the way to becoming a household name.
After much anticipation, Shakedown opened a third store in Cheadle Hulme last September, offering its delicious range of Instagrammable burgers, loaded fries, waffles and shakes.
A VIP preview event took place prior to the official opening, giving guests from the community a chance to sample the fantastic menu, and the team at Shakedown was delighted with the feedback.
The juicy patties are made from original (and top-secret) recipes and best enjoyed with Shakedown’s popular skin-on fries. The recipe for the Beefed Up! patty took a year to perfect and the finished burger boasts two patties with American cheese, caramelised onions, lettuce, house relish and mustard.
You can also upgrade to a Super Beefed Up!, which features a whopping four patties. Also on the menu are: the American Fried, featuring tender chicken fillet, melted cheese, red onions and lettuce with Stateside sauce; the Zesty Chicken with buffalo sauce, cheese and red onions; and a grilled cheese toastie in a brioche bun.
Customers are also huge fans of Shakedown's special sauce range, described as "the magic" of the meal. Developed in-house, it includes Smoky Mustard, Stateside, Zesty Buffalo and Cheese Please, while the house relish features onions and gherkins.
Alongside the burgers and fries are a wide range of mouth-watering sides, including crisp and tender chicken bites called Side Chicks.
With hundreds of five-star reviews online, many customers have declared Shakedown's some of the best burgers in the city – one said: "Absolutely epic burgers. Anytime I’m in Manchester this is my go-to place."
Another added: "The quality, buttery texture and flavour of the meat was the best I’ve ever had in a burger. I can see why some say it’s the best burger joint in Manchester.”
Proudly made in Manchester, Shakedown wants to build the brand in the city and has big plans for the future, hoping to put its burgers on the national map.
It is all about offering customers a vibrant, fun place to visit and a colourful, tasty food and drink experience – and that includes its indulgent dessert and milkshake menu; you can even choose your own ingredients to create a bespoke sweet treat.
With 11 milkshakes to choose from, including the Billionaire Blend, Strawberry Melt and Bubble Trouble, and waffles including Cookie Butter, Oreo Crumble and the chocolate-laden Roadblock, there is no shortage of options to cater to a sweet tooth.
A place for the whole family, the Cheadle Hulme venue serves up a Little People Meals menu, which includes a main, fries and a drink. It’s proven so popular that it’s now been rolled out to the other two stores.
Shakedown wants to be a real part of the Cheadle Hulme community. Its store in Station Road has parking, wi-fi and baby changing facilities.
