Order a 4-6 lb. Live Lobster for Your Dinner Table

Talk about your “Catch of the Day!” Maine Lobster Now offers giant 4-6 lb. live lobster shipped right to your front door. A North Atlantic 4-6 lb. lobster will fill up any serving tray for a wonderful family dinner night and are just as easy to prepare as smaller lobsters. Of course, the sweet, tender lobster meat flavor is still the same you’d expect to be found in all other sizes of lobster. The meat is perfect for dipping in melted butter or used in a wide variety of delicious lobster recipes.

Responsibly Harvested Lobster

At Maine Lobster Now, we only deliver North Atlantic live lobsters that are wild-caught using the latest responsible sourcing methods that help ensure the crustacean’s long-term population and support thousands of independently-owned businesses. You can feel confident you’re eating great-tasting lobster that’s sourced responsibly.

Unmatched Quality and Freshness

We always handle our live lobsters humanely and responsibly. We purchase our lobsters directly from wharfs along the North Atlantic shore and immediately transport them to our storage facility. We keep our lobsters in a saltwater tank that is maintained at a temperature that promotes their health and enables them to thrive until the day they arrive at your home.

Health Advisory: Consuming raw or undercooked shellfish may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions. If you’re not sure how to prepare lobster, please review our cooking directions.

We source our North Atlantic live lobsters directly from independently owned wharfs along the North Atlantic coast. Maine state law limits the size of harvested lobsters to 3.5 lbs., so lobsters larger than that are harvested in federal waters and brought back to docks in either New Hampshire or Canada. Each day the docks trace their landings to the lobstermen and women who catch them, and we trace our lobsters to each dock where they landed.

What’s the Serving Size of 4-6 lb. Live Lobster?
One question we’re often asked is: “How much meat will I get from my live lobster?” The general rule of thumb is that a 1 lb. hardshell live lobster will yield about 20% meat when cooked, or 3.2 oz. The recommended serving size for lobster is about 3.5 oz.
With that said, your 4-6 lb. live lobster should be plenty to fill the empty stomachs at the dinner table and still leave some leftovers. A 5 lb. lobster would yield about 1 lb. of meat, the same amount we send in our 6-pack lobster roll kits. We also recommend serving some classic New England side dishes with your cooked lobster, like delicious corn on the cob or red potatoes. And don’t forget dessert. Order a mouthwatering Labadie's Bakery Original Maine Whoopie Pie. Any of these items will turn an ordinary meal into an extraordinary tasting experience.

Are Lobsters the Next Superfood?
Lobsters offer a wide range of beneficial health qualities similar to other popular “superfoods.” Lobster (similar to other seafood we sell) is an excellent source of protein, offering 19 grams of protein per 3.5 oz. serving.
Lobster also contains a healthy dose of vitamins B3, B6, and B12, which help support metabolism and cognitive function. Lobster is an excellent source of the antioxidant selenium, which prevents cellular damage, and lobster is also high in zinc to boost immunity. And like salmon, lobster contains omega-3 fatty acids that help lower inflammation and can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Simple Instructions for Storing Live Lobster
We’ll help keep your live lobster at the highest quality possible.

Handle live lobsters with care. Live lobsters are best cooked the day they arrive. We cannot guarantee overnight survival after delivery.
Refrigerate the entire box. If the box doesn’t fit, carefully remove lobster(s) and wrap them with the seaweed included in your shipment in damp paper. Do NOT store in an air-tight container.
Do NOT put lobsters on ice or in freshwater. Any of these will kill your lobster(s).

Warning: Closing claws and tails can cause bodily harm. If lobsters arrive without bands, please exercise extreme caution when handling.
