Figure of Isis with Horus the Child

A bronze statuette of the goddess Isis nursing the child god Horus. Isis wears an incised tripartite wig and crown with vulture headdress. The sun disc and cow's horns are now missing. Her face is finely modelled and the eyes and necklace are inlaid with gold. She is dressed in a long, close-fitting robe, her feet rest on a square pedestal and she wears anklets. Isis, the ideal image of motherhood, holds her left breast with her right hand for her son, who leans back, supported by his mother's left hand. Horus is seated on her knees, suckling, he wears a skull-cap with uraeus (cobra headdress) and side-lock of hair. His hands are against his thighs and he wears a necklace.
