What is TIR?

The letters TIR stand for “Transports Internationaux Routiers”. The TIR transit system was developed by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) soon after the Second World War to help revitalize the economies of post-war Europe. It consists in facilitating the transport of goods between the customs offices of departure in one country, and the customs offices of destination in another.

TIR is a simple, global, multimodal, and secure system.

Using TIR, trucks and shipments are sealed by the customs authorities at departure and are unsealed at arrival after verification of the customs seal against a unique transport document called the TIR Carnet. This process guarantees the security and the traceability of the shipped goods due to a highly efficient risk management application.

Al Nowras has successfully transported shipments of 4 containers from Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates) to Duqum (Sultanate of Oman) without the need for VAT or customs duty deposits.

Al Nowras has also successfully completed shipments of 3 containers from Salalah (Sultanate of Oman) to Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates) without VAT or customs duty deposits.
