Lifeblood has launched an urgent nation-wide search for blood donors to help a South Australian mother-of-two Amira, with a blood type so rare just one in 10,000 people may be a match. They are calling on people in the community with O and A blood types to book a donation over the coming week and join the “Donate for Amira” Lifeblood Team to be tested as a match. What do Domino's Pizza and the American Red Cross have in common? Answer: They both have an app that tracks your orders/donations and updates you every step of the way - from start to finish that is eerily similar and, for some reason, addicting to track. I pass by Piedmont Hospital Marcus Heart and Vascular Center every day on my way home, and lately, I've wondered if I can donate blood there. I have donated to the American Red Cross before (and know there is a donation center around the corner from the hospital), but do hospitals accept blood donations regularly? And if not, why not? I've included a link to how the Red Cross describes the blood donation process, but if you have any specific insight into my question, comment below.
