In waterproof concrete, the concrete takes on the static task (load-bearing capacity) and the waterproofing role of the structure in equal measure. Low water/cement ratios reduce the depth of water penetration into the concrete structure.
Regardless of the design principle, cracks cannot be avoided even in water-impermeable concrete. By integrating a crystalline concrete admixture with waterproofer (according to EN 943-2), such as BETOCRETE-CP360WP, emerging continuous cracks up to 0.4mm are sealed by crystallisation upon water contact, so that subsequent injections can often be avoided.
The integrated waterproofer also leads to an instant reduction of the capillary as well as pressure water entry of > 50% into the concrete structure.
Advantages of this type of structural waterproofing: Subsequent structural waterproofing does not have to be planned, organised and carried out. In the long run, this advantage becomes even greater. BETOCRETE structural waterproofing works for the life of the building component; alternative waterproofing systems must be renovated in defined periods of time. Integrated concrete waterproofing is economical and sustainable.
