Cover is the distance from the surface of the structure to the nearest reinforcement bar in the structure. Attention to cover provided on site is very important as it defines the structural strength, durability and performance of the structure. The cover of a concrete structure depends on its type, exposure conditions. Cover helps in 1. Protecting the reinforcement bars from corrosion. 2. Protecting the reinforcement bars from reaching too high temperatures when structure is exposed to fire. 3. Protects the reinforcement bars from wear. Low water/cement ratios reduce the depth of water penetration into the concrete structure. Regardless of the design principle, cracks cannot be avoided even in water-impermeable concrete. By integrating a crystalline concrete admixture with waterproofer (according to EN 943-2), such as BETOCRETE-CP360WP, emerging continuous cracks up to 0.4mm are sealed by crystallisation upon water contact, so that subsequent injections can often be avoided.     The integrated waterproofer also leads to an instant reduction of the capillary as well as pressure water entry of > 50% into the concrete structure.
