Pile Foundation. (End-Bearing) A pile foundation is a type of deep foundation, actually a slender column or long cylinder made of materials such as concrete and/or steel which might be cast-in-situ or driven at the place used to support the structure and move the load to the desired depth by end-bearing or skin friction. My observations were as follows: Each pile is drilled down through the loose soil to the hard strata beneath the soil, with each pile depth ranging from 4.8m to 6.0m After the piles are in position, steel is cut down to a level above the surface bed and a trench is excavated around the pile/s. The piles are then excavated down to pile cap level and the ground beam is to sit on the top of this pile cap. Once this part of the foundation is constructed, it should be capable of carrying the load it has been designed for.
