Cream and ointment will have the same pharmacological properties, only difference is the base used to make it. Sodium fucidate is only sodium salt of fusidic acid. It will not make changes in the pharmacological action. Ointment and creams are selected in the basis of nature of skin and absorption.

Fucidin cream or ointment treats bacterial infections (ex: skin) and prevents bacteria getting into a wound. Fucidin cream can be applied on a large surface on the skin whereas fucidin ointment is only for small areas. Fucicort cream also contains the same ingredient as fucidin cream and ointment (fucidic acid) but includes cortisone (betamethasone) used for eczema or rashes which cannot be used on babies or on the face. On the other hand, fucidin H cream is similar to the fucicort cream but it is safe to use it on babies and faces.

Thanks for info. I have used and keep the Red version on hand at all times. As a Type 1.5 Diabetic with cyclical Neutropenia, the cream has saved me from a few hospital visits over the years.
