What's the difference between the 4 types of Fucidin ? 1- Fucidin 5 gm cream 2% (red) : It's used to treat bacterial infections, such as skin infections including cellulitis and impetigo 2- Fucidin 30 gm ointment 2% ( orange ) : in the treatment of primary and secondary skin infections caused by sensitive strains of Staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus spp and Corynebacterium minutissimum. 3- Fucidin H 30 gm cream Fucidic acid + Hydrocortisone ( red and balck ): indicated in eczema and dermatitis with secondary bacterial infections, including atopic eczema, primary irritant dermatitis and allergic and seborrhoeic dermatitis 4- Fucicort cream 15g : combines the effective antibacterial effects of fusidic acid with the anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects of betamethasone valerate:
Cream and ointment will have the same pharmacological properties, only difference is the base used to make it. Sodium fucidate is only sodium salt of fusidic acid. It will not make changes in the pharmacological action. Ointment and creams are selected in the basis of nature of skin and absorption.
Fucidin cream or ointment treats bacterial infections (ex: skin) and prevents bacteria getting into a wound. Fucidin cream can be applied on a large surface on the skin whereas fucidin ointment is only for small areas. Fucicort cream also contains the same ingredient as fucidin cream and ointment (fucidic acid) but includes cortisone (betamethasone) used for eczema or rashes which cannot be used on babies or on the face. On the other hand, fucidin H cream is similar to the fucicort cream but it is safe to use it on babies and faces.
Fucidin cream is for external used only while Fucidin ointment used for open wound, (stitches. Fucidin h is in combination with steroid (hydrocortisone) so having anti inflammory action useful in eczema and other skin disorders.
They are two different molecule with different dose. 1. Flucidin which is red 5g and orange 30g has different pharmacological action. 2. Fucidin H 30g and 15g has Fucidicacid+ hydrocortisone molecule has different pharmacological action. It's a prescription medicine. Which is treated under different conditions.they clearly made a difference with bands.
