Changing lives through horses and habits.

About us

Bridle Up Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation with the mission to inspire hope, confidence, and resilience in young women through equestrian training. Our story began with a girl named Rachel Covey who loved horses. Rachel battled with depression for many years, but found great fulfillment in helping other struggling young women find hope through riding horses. Rachel's family recognized the bond that exists between a girl and a horse—a bond that a can help a girl build confidence and overcome personal struggles. In 2013, in Rachel's memory, the Coveys started Bridle Up Hope to help other struggling young women. Bridle Up Hope was designed to provide a transformational experience for girls when life has never been harder on them. Girls face relentless pressure to live up to impossible expectations—to have the perfect body, be skinny, be pretty, be popular, get perfect grades, be athletic, and so forth—which often leads to low self-worth, anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Our Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) curriculum teaches girls to recognize their inherent worth and potential, and to approach life with correct paradigms of themselves and others. The program combines equestrian training, life skills development, service at the barn, and self-renewal activities, with principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People integrated throughout. To date, 2,000+ girls and women have now experienced Bridle Up Hope and we have expanded to 10+ global locations. Our vision is to partner with 1,000+ barns to bring hope to millions of girls and women worldwide.

Social/behavioral science research opportunity ⬇️ At Bridle Up Hope, we have been collecting data about the impact horses and habit-building have on women's resilience and mental health. My entry-level statistics knowledge tells me we're on to something, but that's about how far I can get. 🤣 If you or anyone you know would be interested in helping us further this research, please comment! This is a great opportunity, especially for local universities: Brigham Young University, University of Utah, Utah Valley University.

At Bouchard, we frequently try to find ways to help where we can and where we feel passionate about helping. Recently, we decided to partner with Bridle Up Hope to support their mission ... Empowering Young Women: Bridle Up Hope's Mission for Mental Health and Resilience Bridle Up Hope, founded by Sean and Rebecca Covey in memory of their daughter, Rachel, carries a mission that resonates deeply with the heartache of their family's personal tragedy. Rachel, who battled depression for many years, found solace and healing in her love for horses. Her profound effect on a friend, who attested that Rachel and her horses had not just changed but saved her life, was the catalyst for Bridle Up Hope's inception.   Today, young women face immense pressure and challenges related to mental health. 38% of girls have an anxiety disorder, 1 in 5 teenage girls have experienced a major depressive episode, and with girls being twice as likely to experience depression, the need for support and empowerment is more crucial than ever. Thanks to Bridle Up Hope, there is a way to help those in need.

When I was 13 years old, my older sister Rachel tragically passed away. The months and years that followed were full of darkness and grief—and it forced my family to make a decision: Would we let this experience destroy our family, or allow it to strengthen us? We chose the latter. Bridle Up Hope eventually was born from this—and indescribable joy and healing have now resulted. This video I have created is not just about my sister's story, it’s about how tragedy can turn into beauty. This is for you Rachel 🤍
