This year’s RSA conference saw 68 orgs—including Microsoft, AWS, Google, and IBM—sign CISA's secure-by-design pledge. The pledge is a voluntary commitment to achieve seven key security goals within the next year: 1️⃣ Increase the use of MFA across their products 2️⃣ Reduce default passwords 3️⃣ Reduce one or more classes of vulnerability  4️⃣ Increase security patch installations 5️⃣ Create and publish a vulnerability disclosure policy 6️⃣ Increase CVE reporting transparency 7️⃣ Give customers greater ability to spot evidence of intrusions While the pledge is voluntary, the hope is that organizations will begin taking a security-first approach to new technologies, eliminating practices that CISA director Jen Easterly calls “dangerous-by-design” and create safer, more secure tech infrastructure. Customer story time! 📖 An organization came to us with a very specific problem—they were dealing with a massive uptick in acceptable use policy violations in their collaboration tool and wanted to understand what was happening. Aware analyzed the data and discovered significant amounts of inappropriate and toxic messages and images being shared… but only in very specific channels and message types. The reason? Employees had figured out that they could invite their friends into shared chats using the workplace tool. 🤯 The company was hosting dozens of these chats with outside users, decreasing productivity, putting data at risk, and damaging culture by redefining how employees communicated at work. Thanks to Aware, they were able to remove the external users, adjust their settings to prevent unauthorized users from being added in future, and coach employees on best practices when using company collaboration tools.
