Engine Specifications and Performance

The 2019 Ram is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 cylinder engine with an output of 305 horsepower running at 6,400 revolutions per minute. The Ford F-150 doesn't linger far behind with its 3.3-liter V6 cylinder engine with an output of 290 horsepower running at 6,500 revolutions per minute (285 horsepower running at 6,400 revolutions per minute for comparison purposes).

The Ram 1500 pulls torque of 269 pounds per foot running at 4800 revolutions per minute, while the Ford F-150 pulls torque of 265 pounds per foot running at 4.000 revolutions per minute.

Both pickups have a double overhead cam type (DOHC), variable valve timing, and 24 valves.

Both trucks average a combined fuel efficiency of 21 miles per gallon, however, the Dodge 1500 will get you 19 miles per gallon in the city while the Ford F-150 will only get you 18 miles per gallon in the city. The Dodge 1500 also will get you 24 miles to the gallon on the highway while the Ford F-150 will clock in at 23 miles per gallon on the highway. Both pickups have a fuel tank capacity of 26 gallons.

The Dodge 1500 has an eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission while the Ford F-150 is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both pickups feature four-wheel drive and run on regular unleaded gasoline as fuel.

Safety Systems and Features

The Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 are very similar in the aspect of safety systems and features. Both pickup models are equipped with a four-wheel ABS, daytime running lights, front fog and driving lights, three headrests in the front row, dual side-mounted airbags in the front, stability control, passenger airbag with automatic deactivation, monitoring of tire pressure, dusk sensing headlamps, three-point belt in the front center seat, and ventilated front disc and solid rear disc brakes.

In addition, both pickup truck models also possess rear door child safety locks, engine immobilizer, three-point belt in the rear center seat, child safety seat anchors, both front and rear head airbags, height adjustable headrests for the rear seating, and headlamps with auto delay off functionality.

The differences are presented with the Ram 1500's features such as brake drying, emergency braking preparation, and emergency braking assist. These features are not currently available on the standard model of the Ford F-150.

Comfort and Convenience Features

In the running for top comfort and convenience in a vehicle, the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 also have a similar roster to each other. Both pickup truck models are equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, front cupholders, front seatback storage, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, electric power steering, and steering wheel controls for audio and cruise control.

The variation can be found in the Ram 1500's overhead console with storage, keyless ignition, rear cupholders, front and rear door pockets, transmission controls on the steering wheel in addition to the audio and cruise controls, rearview camera, and passenger illuminated vanity mirror. These features are not currently available in the standard model of the Ford F-150. Both pickup truck models have two one-touch power windows and heated mirrors, while only the Ram 1500 has hands-free entry.

When it comes to in-car entertainment, both pickup truck models are congruent on features and systems. Both are equipped with a standard AM/FM stereo radio, USB compatible connection, auxiliary audio input, external media control for both the auxiliary and USB connections, and six speakers in total. Both the Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 are equipped with dashboard instrumentation including a tachometer, trip computer, and digital clock.

The Ram 1500 provides the options to augment the interior with rubber floor mats for the front and rear, deluxe bucket cloth seats, a single disc CD player with remote, a subwoofer with nine amplified speakers and a rear underseat compartment storage area. The Ford F-150 provides the options to add a single kicker subwoofer, vinyl flooring, and a trailer brake controller.

Exterior Components and Equipment

The Ram 1500 is equipped with 18 by 8-inch wheels, while the Ford F-150 is equipped with standard 17-inch wheels. The Ram 1500 has 275/65R18 tires and the Ford F-150 is equipped with 265/70R17 tires, and both pickups have a full-sized non-matching spare tire that is mounted on the underbody of the vehicle and all season tires. Both pickup truck models have a front independent suspension, with the Ram 1500 having a front and rear stabilizer bar and the Ford F-150 features a standard stabilizer bar.

Both pickup truck models have a multitude of available add-ons for the exterior of the pickups. The Ram 1500 offers 275/55R20 BSW low rolling resistance all-season tires, deluxe dual pane panoramic sunroof, 33-gallon fuel tank, wheel to wheel side steps, premium rear-wheel house liners and chrome-clad aluminum wheels that measure 20 inches by 9 inches, tri-fold tonneau cover, Park Sense Front and Rear Park Assist with Stop, 275/65R18 as well as 275/55R20 BSW all-season tires, and more. The Ford F-150 offers optional two-panel moonroof, two-tone paint, plastic bed liner, box side steps, front license plate bracket, wheel well liners, and more.

Warranty Information
