Rabid fox captured near Desert Museum

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A wild fox found near the Desert Museum in Tucson tested positive for rabies on Saturday, April 13.
After multiple similar rabies cases around the Tucson Mountain Park region in recent weeks, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum asked locals to be cautious around wildlife.
They advised to never approach, handle, or feed wild animals.
Several possibly rabid animal incidents have been reported throughout Southern Arizona in recent months.
- In early January, a man had to be treated for rabies after he was attacked by a bobcat at his Saddlebrooke home.
- In late January, a man was attacked by a possibly rabibd bobcat at Saguaro National Park East.
- In late February, a possibly rabid fox was spotted near Agua Caliente Park.
- In late February, a rabid coyote attacked a miniature horse at a home in Tucson.
- In late March, a possibly rabid gray fox attacked a person on Mount Lemmon. Wildlife officials tracked down and killed the fox before sending it off to be tested for rabies.
- In late March, another possibly rabid gray fox attack was reported on Mount Lemmon.
- In early April, a fox believed to be responsible for three attacks at Saguaro National Park West was euthanized by Wildlife officials.
