Manichean
tcourdille21 August 2022
Manichean film where terrorists drop like flies by the dozen while we are entitled to 15 minutes of tearful melodrama for the death of a single "nice" soldier. Otherwise the film is effective as an old american action film not very fine.

At some moments you feel lost
Shaikha_S5 December 2021
At middle of the movie you can feel lost, the connections between making memories with each other and the tank attack is noticeable and you feel this separation. That's why I found it 90% boring and extra long for such story.

Ordinary battle film with mistakes
nevzatarar23 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ordinary battles, no real heros. Apache attack had eliminated most terörist, against resistance Apache fall back not to be eliminated. That was another the cliche sceen that I have seen. The strategy was fully absurd, after have been trapped the mines, the drone has not seen mine seeding in the area, mis communication was the absolute moment of the movie. In the end revenge has been taken, embedded with philological explanation of the the good commando of UAE. UAE troops were donated with US arms, seemed to me as US soldiers but talking to Arabic within. Wooden horse scene was the a another cliche clipped from Gladiator. Against all, you may watch if you have nothing to do better.

Fake propaganda claimed to be based on a true story
weracigg4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Once again, the UAE uses its oil money to produce political propaganda. They're should be a law that forbids movie makers from using the statement "Based on true story" when the movie has 1% true events and the rest is made up. The movie shows the UAE as a hero country that went to save the people of Yemen from "terrorists" and the UAE army falling in an ambush due to betrayal. When the reality is, the UAE army was sent to overtake control on oil and gas fields in addition to sea ports, and to invade the island of Socotra. Movies are made for entertainment and documenting events. Not to spread false information for your government's political gain.

They can do more better in musical score. Except the UAE national anthem at the end.
normanilliscupidez18 May 2022
Experience like you're watching a Hollywood movie.

Full pack action with a touch of family oriented, sacrifice and a touch of drama.

A Big Salute to UAE's Armed Forces.

(It's obviously a military hardware show off) But still, the movie is great and you can easily relate.

I can't concur if the movie was happened in 2015.

May it happened but not that year, Because till mid 2018 up to now there's some clashes between coalition and Yemen extremists. And they do have media blackout.

An absolute blast!
paulclaassen3 October 2023
On patrol, United Arab Emirates Armed Forces soldiers encounter Yemen forces along the road with an apparent broken truck. The Yemen soldiers ask them to check out 'activity', and so they head to the given location, which leads them through a canyon.

However, they are ambushed and exposed to heavy gunfire, trapping Ali, Bilal and Hindasi in their armoured vehicle. With the enemy surrounding them, they have to stay alive for at least an hour before the Quick Response team reach them. Their quest for survival has just begun, and the film takes us through their harrowing ordeal.

We also follow the Quick Response team's rescue efforts, as they, too, find themselves under attack from the enemy. 'The Ambush' is an action-packed thriller with non-stop action and suspense from beginning to end. It is an incredibly well made, realistic film with characters I cared about, and a truly evil villain. The film is based on actual events.

The film is beautifully photographed, with good cinematography and score. Oh, hell, wow, and are you ready for that emotional ending?! 'The Ambush' was an absolute blast!

Poor plot with a lot of pyrotechnics
polesud23 May 2022
Completely overrated. This movie is not better than a second class Hollywood war movie. The script is so poor, it's appalling. Pyrotechnics must represent half of the film's budget!

Should've added real scenes in the ending at least.
alnaqbi-9054429 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best Arabic movie I ever saw, and it's actually great for the war genre lovers. I know it's predictable but it's based on a true story so that's fine, and we don't have to talk about the directing. I loved everything, but I wanted to see some real videos or photos from the war location or the guys after the war in their country. Despite this issue, everything was great.

Suspiciously similar to "Beast of War"
Radu_A20 December 2022
That's a 1988 US film about a Russian tank crew in Afghanistan losing its way in as narrow canyon and being ambushed by Mujaheddin. It has a fairly complex story and shows both sides of the conflict. This film takes the basic idea and paints it black and white, good Emirati soldiers and evil Huthis, who are however fighting in their own land.

The war in Yemen is part of the conflict between Sunni Saudis and Shia Iran, with both sides trying to make coexistence impossible, but this film doesn't give you any information about that. There is no explanation who the Huthi are, and the film equates them with Daesh although they are enemies. It's another hack job for Pierre Morel who has been a hired gun for brainless action drivels ever since his success with "Taken".

Yemen has long been the battleground for the world's dirtiest and most ignored war and would deserve a serious effort to portray its tragedy.

A well-made war movie
marwanmqno30 November 2021
Al Kameen is a major qualitative leap in the history of Emirati and Gulf cinema in general. With a huge budget, Image Nation was able to present a war movie that will remain unforgettable. From the first scene in the movie, we can sense that we are on the cusp of a very different experience from what we are used to in our films. French director Pierre Morel succeeded with distinction in presenting a very elaborate war movie. He adhered to the most important standards of war films, which is to present a clear picture of the story and the difficult task of our heroes. He did not delve too much into the details of the characters and their backgrounds, and put us directly in the heart of the event and the suffering of its characters.

He chose a very ideal location for filming events. The most important is the elaborate sounds of gunfire and explosives that almost accompanied us throughout the film and made us feel our presence in the heart of the battle with them. The transition from one scene to another was very impressive and smooth, thanks to the amazing montage in this movie. The film's aesthetic was enhanced by a wonderful and very impressive soundtrack, especially in the last scenes of the film. And the acting crew was above excellent, and everyone gave a distinguished performance, and the reason is due to what this story and events mean to them.

Al Kameen is a war movie that deals with the unfortunate events suffered by Emirati soldiers and how they were rescued from this ambush. Although the film is patriotic, it is in the first place a very respectable movie, and it provided me with an enjoyable and touching experience with all its details. I advise everyone to watch it as soon as possible.

Al Kameen "a turning point in the history of Gulf cinema"

Disappointing !
salemalj9 December 2021
The hype was unfortunately unreal, i got mixed feelings because i really wanted to like this movie but they made it really hard with bad narration, poor character building and robotic conversations, the soundtrack was horrible could've been much much better, didn't want to be harsh judging this movie but it's really a big disappointment for me.

Stupidly scripted battle movie
housearrestedever17 December 2022
This is one of the stupidest war movies I've ever seen. The whole military operation is a ridiculous and amateurish joke. What we saw was a bunch of soldiers fattened with thick modern day battle gears trapped in the armor trucks like sitting duck facing the rebels on foot with basic AK-47s, mortars and mines. We have a hesitant field commander kept looking outside of his armor vehicle, awaiting the feed from the UAV but did nothing. The Central Command also did a lousy job to order the support of the UAV to be redirected to the battleground, then ordered another Apache chopper to help saving the entrapped worthless soldiers. I just couldn't understand why the commander of the base didn't do both earlier. By following such stupidly scripted, poorly directed and bunch of fat actors to play the soldiers who did nothing but took turns and tried to find a signal of their cellphones while surrounded by the approaching rebels, the viewing has become a very tough and enduring process. The only way to free from such stupidity is like what I did: Quit watching, man.

the worst movie
petin-6247412 August 2022
Apparently they did not understand that money does not buy talent.

The most reassuring and that the director P. Morel put a few million in his pocket.

Budget 40 million box office 5 million what a belly.

Fake truth, characters as charismatic as a slice of ham no thanks.

Box-office movie, action, some fun, sacrifice and real drama.

The true story of being a soldier.

For all ages as no extreme violence, and easy language to follow.

Absolute waste of time
mjHGGjhmwem17 March 2023
Let me summarize Take a warmongering B-grade Hollywood movie, replace the English-language-speaking cast with Arabic-speaking ones of Atab ethnicity, translate the script into Arabic and you get absolute trash like this. Sadly, the actors also left a lot to be desired. The command post and the script depicting the tension is a photocopy from any run-of-the-mill Hollywood flick. The one in charge of the command room acted as if he was forced to do so with a gun held on his head. The lady in the room looked so planted. Glorifying war has been a Hollywood disease for a long, it is sad to see that the same disease has infected middle eastern cinemas too, a region that has been suffering from war.

Modern military movie
BandSAboutMovies2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Directed by Pierre Morel (Taken) and written by Brandon and Kurtis Birtell, The Ambush is the story of Emirati soldiers caught in an ambush which has destroyed their armored vehicle patrol, but its all a trap to take out more soldiers and an Apache chopper that is coming to rescue them.

Morel is great at getting across the action in this, as the troops have to avoid rocket fire, a sniper and landmines if they want to survive. It looks like someone will have to make a sacrifice if anyone wants to survive and if more losses won't be added to the day.

If you're looking for a modern war film, this will definitely fit the bill. It's not anything groundbreaking, but the action is pretty thrilling and I was biting my nails watching the helicopter avoid all that rocket fire!

All the audience in the cinema hall were crying at the end
shahedkmh30 November 2021
All the audience in the cinema hall were crying at the end.

As an Emirati, I can say that the movie framed the story in an amazing way, it keeps you thrilled and at the edge of your seat. The movie makes you feel as if you were with them in the scene.

If you don't understand what really happened in Yemen few years ago then you should watch the movie.

Low budget
sesametha8 June 2023
Low budget action movie, the whole movie you listen to two things only, sir, and bullets. Screenplay and dialogue are awfully poor. 6.3 out of 10 is truly too much for the movie. Complete waste of time. Sense of humor was awful as well. I stopped watching at 1 hour 15 minutes. Couldn't take more of that farce.

The good thing is they tried to make the Emirati soldier looks good hearted like American soldiers. Unfortunately they're all the same, invaders.

They tried to make the Yemeni people looks criminal same as Hollywood movies, but again they failed at that too.it's their legitimate right to defend themselves. The sad thing is Muslims was killing each other.

Heroes or Murderous Cowards?
stevendecastro31 May 2023
Because of other reviewers, I don't have to go into the fact that this movie tries to make heroes out of people trying to kill Houthis who are simply defending their own land. But the movie's depiction of the troops itself is distracting, because the way they fight a war is that they travel in MRAP troop vehicles in inadequate numbers, and if they see the enemy, they try to engage with a robotic gun on the top without ever getting out of the vehicle. So essentially they play the war like it is a video game. Obviously their enemy will just place a few rocks in the road and then attack the stationary vehicle, even by lighting a fire under it, etc. A war movie is supposed to be about heroism, not about soldiers who come to Yemen to murder, who are too scared to step out of their armored vehicles.

One of the best war films ever made
QueenoftheGoons5 January 2023
I've been watching war movies since i was like 5 with Dad. This one was really good. They should make their trucks able to shoot from like ion case they blow off your top gun. I haven't watched one this powerful in a long time. You feel for these guys. You want them to make it home. Soldiers and what they go thru, regardless the war are their own breed. Half tracks would be good on the ground there. You want these guys saved. The Calvary comes then they get pinned down. They sent in the Apaches, the Huey's of Nam. The music was good too. It was so emotional i bawled at the end. Very powerful, very good.

Best Emiratei Movie I have watch.
alhammadix-8611 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Al Kameen is an Emirati film of international repute. I had a great time viewing the movie. It's quickly become one of my favorites. The actors did such an excellent job portraying the plot that it felt real, as if we were living within the movie. What makes it even more remarkable is that the entire film was shot in the UAE, with an all-Emirates cast. The movie has a fantastic way of framing the plot, keeping you enthralled and on the edge of your seat. The film makes you feel as if you are in the scene with them.
