The City of Sacramento Finance Department has released a list of businesses and people that they may owe money, reports FOX40.

The list includes about 4,100 people and businesses with paid funds owed by the city.

The accounting manager for the city, Osvaldo Lopez said the unclaimed money amounts to $1.1 million.

“What we are essentially talking about here are uncashed checks that were issued or mailed but have not been cashed three years or more after their issue date,” Lopez said in a news release. “This process also focuses on un-refunded billing account balances for City utility customers.”

Those who are eligible to file a claim are vendors who have previously operated a business with the city, former city employees, retirees apart of the Sacramento City Employees' Retirement System, and utility ratepayers with credit balances when they closed their accounts.

People who have money owed to them must file a claim before June 28 to get the funds, reports FOX40.

The city will issue individuals a check within 30 to 90 days after receiving proper documentation, according to Lopez.

Claims must be mailed or emails to the City of Sacramento, Finance Department.
