I would like to avoid a rack or plate holder and am considering out of the box ideas. I know what a French Cleat is now.

I would put it on a shelf on a stand. It sticking out that far I'd be worried (even if I could get it hung) it'd get bumped off and broken.

I am considering having a round piece of wood made to fit in the indentation, a very hard wood, glue or epoxy it in and attach some kind of hanger.

Hey! this sounds like a great idea, you could choose to go with super-strong adhesive tape, or use spring-style hangers. A more DIY approach, and a little bit impermanent would safety pins on felt adhered to the wall with command strips.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to use a JB weld two-part epoxy with a piece of hard wood that's cut to fit and put a sawtooth hanger drilled into it or have my wood maker, I have a friend who's one, put a recessed area into the wood.

At this point I just want to make sure the bowl arrives here undamaged as the seller has a 96% rating!

Allison I bought it off of ebay and it's not here yet. I am guessing it is about 6 inches deep and I have successfully hung other even deeper bowls before although they have to go in a place where they wont get bumped, of course. It will be hung in a place where the side and the front can be viewed.

I love bowls and have way too many already on flat horizontal surfaces!
