Nick Nolte and Luke Bracey are pairing for the action thriller Poacher.
Kriv Stenders (Red Dog, Australia Day) will helm the heist pic from a script by Thomas Martin (All That Way for Love). Arclight Films has launched international sales outside of North America at AFM.
Inspired by true events, Poacher tells the cautionary tale of a young man (Bracey), motivated by vengeance, who goes to war with a fishing baron (Nolte) who rules the town, sending him on a journey which transforms him from a small-time abalone poacher into a criminal gang boss.
Ashley McLeod, Teresa Ticehurst and James M. Vernon are the film’s producers, who retain North American rights to the project. The crime drama will be shot against the stunning Tasmanian coastal landscape — a specialty of Stenders‘, who also helmed Red Dog: True Blue and Australia Day.
Nolte (Prince of Tides, Warrior, Graves) is repped by CAA and Tavistock Wood Management; Bracey (Hacksaw Ridge, Point Break) is with CAA, Morrissey Management and Roar; Stenders is repped by HLA Management; and Martin is with Curtis Brown Literary Agency. The project was developed by McLeod and Ticehurst for Homegrown Productions.
