Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

I'm so happy with how my sweet woodruff is thriving. I am hoping it will crowd out the goutweed coming from my neighbors yard, and so far so good!
I am so in love with these plants! First, a bit of a background. Last year I tried to plant Sweet Woodruff (SW) and it all died. The help at Great Gardens was fantastic. They were kind, knowledgable, and they refunded my money for the SW. As luck would have it everything was dying where I was trying to plant it because of a drainage issue under the ground. My plant were drowning. So we got that fixed over the winter. This season I tried planting SW again in the same spot with the drainage issues fixed. And they are thriving!
My plants arrived on time. In fact, due some delayed frost, I was able to contact Great Gardens to delay my delivery by a week. They easily and gladly adjusted the delivery date of my order. The plants were well packed, and hardened off nicely in the shade of my porch.
I can’t say enough great things about my experience with Great Garden plants and the people.
This is the beginning of year number three for these guys. They haven't quite got going yet. There were 32 landscape plugs, but as you can see from the photo, growth has been spotty, and many patches have simply died off. Haven't had any small white flowers ever either. (6b)

Came in fine is planted and growing
I recenlty ordered sweet woodruff ground cover. It arrived in a timely fashion and was beautiful and healthy. I planted it soon after receiving the 32 plugs. I am new to gardening and do not have a green thumb. Quite a few of my the plugs have not survived; I am confident it is gardner error. Great Garden Plants is working with me on a new shipment and tips to grow healthy plants. Thank you Great Garden Plants!!
