This is a self-help book that addresses the philosophy of abandoning attachment to outcomes, relationships, and feelings. This book helps readers develop an attitude of acceptance and resilience in the face of the obstacles that life presents by leading them through a series of practical activities and reflection techniques. The author places a strong emphasis throughout the book on the significance of letting go of control, cultivating personal growth, and discovering inner peace through the practice of letting go.

The beneficial aspect of this book is that it offers readers suggestions and activities that can be applied in their everyday life to help them better understand and practice the notion of letting go. The author utilizes language that is easy to understand, which makes it possible for a wide audience to comprehend the information being presented. The incorporation of personal experiences and examples drawn from real life lends the information additional depth and relatability, hence making it more interesting to read.

On the other hand, the same ideas are presented in a variety of different chapters, which may give the reader an impression of the work being repetitive. As a result of the advice being overly broad in some instances, the book might not be able to accommodate to the particular needs of each and every person who reads it.

Pretty practical guide. I don't think it was helpful that I kept zoning out thinking about shit I want let go of while reading it though.. Hmm.

Great book. it was Good reads recommendation. The break down in this book touches every life. Be that be lost love, longing for attachment, unfaithful, lost in business, under guilt, unemployed, feeling unworthy whatever you are struggling with and trying to let go of something that's long gone. This book can greatly help in analyzing yourself and identify the real problem(s). But choose this book only if you are looking for some self help,if not you will find the topics going round and round. The exercises mentioned in the book are not for all too. Choose the ones that suits you best. Above all the chapters, i loved the last one "Learn to forgive yourself and others" - the ultimate solution for many of our problems :) But the hardest truth is, no self help books can help you unless you are consciously ready to change.

A good practical guide. I’ve yet to do the exercises - a good excuse to buy a pretty new notebook! I will give them a go though - having read through them they make great sense

the art of letting go

I wanted to start 2024 by letting go of a lot of the past that has been haunting and holding me back. While refreshing to read, this book was majority workshopped exercises rather than the psychology and thoughtful analysis I was looking for. If you’re interested in “an activity” after each chapter this is your book! I’m biased since I’m not the biggest fan of that type of structured read but still appreciate the thought and motivation behind the idea.

woww... I do not usually read self-help books because as a psychologist I have a prejudice that they are all dull and superficial. But nowadays I am in a state that I feel like I am going insane so I wanted to give it a try. Self-harm through shitty books is a better idea than physical self-harm right? :dd Well, I did read this today and the chapters before exercises are sooooo superficial omg I cannot even. I could write this book better with my current knowledge. Not to disrespect to the writer but I feel like an average wattpad writer spents more mental effort and time to write their smuts. The exercises... not too bad but still.. It is so hard to be a psychology major, you cannot even read self-help books without always finding flaws :'(

Concise, with good tips and strategies/tactics for letting go. Good weekend read with practical applications. The 1st half is about letting go and the second half has practical steps and exercises to facilitate the process.

Good book! Quick read. I had my doubts at first, but there were a lot of really good exercises that I enjoyed. I had a couple laughs and feel I had a couple aha moments when working through some exercises.

Actually well written? Was kind of expecting this to be another muddled Pinterest board. This is actually well thought out and beneficial journal/thought prompts that I will be going back through to complete!

Big improvement from the art of saying no

After reading the Art of Saying No, I wasn't really excited about reading this one, but I had already bought it and wanted to tick it off the list. I was pleasantly surprised. This was a vast improvement over the first book in the series. There was more depth in the writing this time around and the quotes were well-chosen.

Хороша книжка, без водички.
Слухала польською. Не скажу, що дізналася щось дуже нове, але сподобалось, що інформація була подана коротко і по суті.

I read the first half of this book and really enjoyed it. The second half provides the reader a detailed exercise plan to work through to help achieve the ideas presented in the first 1/2 of the book. I really like this concept because it takes it from theory to practical. Therefore, my review is based on the theory portion and now I'll take my time working through the strategies and exercises on my own personal journey.

Originally I ordered this book and tried to return it immediately before starting it after reading more reviews that made it seem like it was a waste of time to read. Amazon instead told me to just keep the book, no need to return it, even though they indeed refunded me for it. I took that as a sign maybe I was meant to read it. That seems to be the case, because there were some things in this book that really resonated with me and put things into perspective in a way that was really helpful. There were much needed realizations. I did some of the exercises, but have yet to do them all even though I read them all. I enjoy how this book makes you really look inward and pinpoint where the issues might lie. Getting to know yourself better and be more self aware is always a positive thing to do and is very beneficial to not only yourself, but your relationships as well. It allows you to better show up in all aspects of life. I loved how it helps you to see what healthy thought processes look like (and also unhealthy thought processes)and gives you tips and exercises on how to implement the healthy habits into your life.

This is a good guide on how to feel less resentment and regret in life, and it gives some great pointers on being more present rather than constantly living in the past.

I did a couple of the exercises which are good for creating a space for reflection and introspection. I did not do all of the exercises as there is A LOT of them and I do not feel that they will all be relevant at one particular time.

This is the kind of book that you keep on your shelf to re-visit whenever you need a little guidance. The exercises can be done in any order and as standalone exercises which is quite useful.

I only gave this 3 stars as I just felt that it scratched the surface for me. I would have preferred for the writer to have gone into more depth on each of these chapters.

It seems like the older I get the more I find myself replaying events in my head over and over again. The titile of this book caught my attention. It offered some very good advice for moving on and letting go of memories that hold us in the past. I think it would be even more effective if I owned a copy (mine was borrowed from the library) so I could refer back to it, and if I did all the exercises at the end of every chapter. But I did find it to be very helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who struggles to let go of thoughts that continuously play through your head and keep you stuck in the past. You deserve to free yourself from that and to move on.

Letting go is hard but it's a fact of life. In order to grow and better your own life and environment, you have to learn how to let go. For me, i got this to let go of a failed relationship if you could call it that. Yet, this is a great proactive tool to finalize letting go of anything or anyone. Whatever you decide to let go of, it's doable after reading this book.

The book is broken down into 3 sections.
The Upside of Letting Go, Why We Struggle to Let Go, and 21 strategies for moving on and letting go.

Overall, i recommend this book to anyone struggling to let go.

Incredibly repetitive. I also strongly dislike books that tell you what you are going to see in future parts or chapters and this book is constantly saying “in part three you’ll see… coming up in the next chapter, you’ll learn…” and I kept getting super annoyed. If I’m going to read or learn something from a book I don’t need a warning. Trying to hit my book goals this year so the only reason I finished is because I was too far in to not finish. The book is so short and full of filler content. I got a few good things from it but overall I was pretty disappointed.

There are a few nuggets of wisdom in this book, but as with the first book in the series "Art of Saying No", this book is not very well sourced and some of the sources are questionable (e.g. Wikipedia reference). There is also a lot of filler/repetitive information, as if the author had the goal of making the book a certain number of pages rather than fill the pages with unique and value-added content. Still, my take is that most readers will find some value in the exercises the author proposes.

I ended up reading this, I thought l, for a Kindle achievement, but it turned out I must have veered from the original list. Sometimes you have to be careful with the Kindle Unlimited books, they aren't always quality works. But I can tell you, other than the use of moreover, who uses that word anyways, it actually was a pretty good book. It has actual exercises, and lots of examples. The research was there, and anubody's life could improve from a reading and note-taking from this book.

I didn't finish this book because it's really overwhelming to read about different problems and talking, about finding the solution for them. Wouldn't recommend this book but yes if you're looking for some kind of info or trying to find a solution to your problem or get some idea of your problem then you may refer to this book - but if you will go through that particular chapter only then that's great. Else, no.

This book was honestly painful to read. It could be helpful and introspective if all problems, trauma, etc were simple. A few examples that are used constantly is a shattered relationship or loss of job. These issues would make doing the exercises provided in the book, easy. But as most people know, most problems and trauma are multi faceted and not simple at all.

I would suggest using the money that you were going to spend on this book, and put it towards a therapist instead.

Helpful

I stumbled upon this book at the right time in my life. After experiencing a real letdown, it helped me to bounce back really quick by putting everything in perspective. Not that the advice was new but a fresh perspective at the right moment is what it provided. Great flow. Thanks to the author.

Great Read

The book is easy to follow and incorporates the workbook too. I did a quick read but will keep in my library to focus on doing the work. I found it during a time of turmoil when a friend reentered my life after several decades, then relocated 700 miles away. He has no problem letting go (3 failed marriages), but obviously I do! Thanks for sharing the tools.

The worst book I have ever read. I could not tell you one point the author has made, even after reading the whole thing. It was so wishy washy, I could open my laptop now and make a book like this out of the thoughts that come out of my brain. But I am not an expert and no publisher would publish this. There is a reason this book is self published. Maybe all the good reviews are him?
