Rate this book
Family. Freedom. Truth. Love. Some things are always worth fighting for.

All Riley Shepard ever wanted was a normal life, but Fate is cruel, reality is subjective, and love has never been so hard. When Riley is thrust into a supernatural world he never knew existed, he discovers truths that even Angels have tried to hide, and he must balance the line between light and dark, good and evil, Heaven and Hell. Because he was born a hybrid of both. He is neither Angel nor Fallen, human or Nephilim. He is as much a monster as he is a miracle. And he must be strong enough to weather both.

For the fate of the realms and the redeeming love of his guardian angels, Riley will fight to his last breath. There is no love without sacrifice. Let the Battle of Heaven begin.

This is the complete Fire & Brimstone series, Scrolls 1-6, with an additional 25k words of bonus content. Fire & Brimstone is a slow-burn MM+ paranormal romance, featuring sexy but imperfect guardian angels, an unlikely hero who doesn't know his own worth, and one epic love that redeems them all.

GIDEON, NOEL, JAI AND RILEY aka (in no particular order) Lilac, dokha, peppermint, sunshine, and a sweet, smoky perfume of summer.

A box with six novels, over more than 2000 pages, not one page dull, how is this even possible? It’s full of fantasy, entertainment, realms, Angels, Demons, light, darkness, jealousy, promises, rejection, exploration, sweet lovemaking, romance, heroes, love! love! love! family, with heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. We can follow Riley and his guardians at their highest and lowest moments. It’s an amazingly written, emotional, lgbtq+ fantasy journey. Every installment has a wonderful prologue and epilogue. The author did an amazing job structuring this whole journey. The information is given in manageable proportions.
Beware, there are some triggers warnings!

The author’s note said :
“Take a seat at the round table, grab the hand of the person beside you, and settle in. We’re all in this together now. For family, freedom, truth, and love. For Riley and his angels.”
Isn’t that an awesome invitation?

So, I sat down, grabbed my iPad, and started reading and reading, for over more than a week.
I will review every separate book, I’ll try to keep it manageable and readable.

Every book deserves its own 5 stars rating because every book was unique, powerfully written, and hugely entertaining.

#1 Revelations

Already the prologue convinced me this should be on Netflix, as a series.
What a strong start!

Hector is a Devil, he and Devlin, his partner, are abusing an Angel, asking questions, and not getting any answers.

In this first installment we get to know nineteen years old Riley a bit, he is an utterly shy, innocent boy, skittish, small, glad he could leave his foster parent, the awfully strict Ms. Janet, to study. Her hard way of raising him made him insecure, withdrawn, and obedient. He even had to chastise himself. He’s heavily indoctrinated by this insane evil woman, I hated her.
He’s conditioned to obey and immediately excuses for everything, it was hurtful to watch this sweet sweet boy, who has never been hugged, never received kindness or love.

Riley sees things, people others can’t see. The medical world told him he’s crazy, he believes them.
He can’t stand up for himself, but suddenly there are a few guys who are kind and of great help.
It’s like something magical.

Meeting Noel, Jai, and Gideon change everything for Riley. Are they for real? Are they his Guardians?
They are overwhelming, affectionate, fun, adorable, and hugely protective over shy Riley.
I asked myself why are they with him, does he need protection, from who and why?
Welcome to the world of Angels and Demons, a universe that must remain in balance.

My heart tumbled down several times for the heartbreaking state Riley’s in. Even his guardians had trouble staying sane for his sake.
It was an amazingly written story, so happy it’s a box so I can read on. It’s intriguing, with beautifully created realms, it’s so promising. The author’s writing style is clear as crystal, balanced, and excellently outlined, the feelings you’ll find are overwhelming. I’ll stop now and start reading the second book!

#2 Sacrifice

Riley’s guardians worship him. He’s the kindest soul they ever met. They will protect their ward to the max. Riley is learning, under the watchful eyes of Gideon, to work with his special gift as Nephilim.

After being repressed from all hormonal feelings his whole life, he’s now capable to feel, and oh my gosh he can feel. Looking at his guardians he feels all the time.
Sandwiched between two affectionate guardians is something Riley has to accommodate with.
He’s learning, and omg it’s so precious.

There’s fun, another thing Riley must accommodate with, there was never fun in his life.

His guardians are not some perfect angels, they have flaws, like jealousy, *snorts*
Jai and Noel are each-other Other’s, there’s a lot of jester, banter, they make improper comments and Riley is confused, are they flirting… with him? All three guardians seem to be mesmerized by Riley’s appearance. Another thing that makes Riley feel certain things.

Confusion and temptation are in the air.

When I say they aren’t flawless, I also mean they fight, argue, get mad, jealous when the Other get on a date.

My goodness, so much is happening, Riley is summoned to Utopia, and he’s deadly afraid.
Then Noel got hurt and kept, they are all fighting like a real family to save him.

There’s a hierarchy, they are summoned by the Council of Archangels!
That’s the place we learn a bit more about Riley. Darn, it’s a LOT!

A story with many different emotions and actions, fun, sweetness, humor, so many precious humorous moments, I smiled and laughed and snorted. But there’s also hurt, fights, desperation, weakness, fierceness. At some point, it was even a bit too much. I wanted serenity and calmness, some sweet exploration with love and kisses. Well, there was time for all.

Amazingballs story, Awesome, All-consuming, yes! All capital!
Can I get on with the next one 🙂

#3 Illusion

Noel and Jai can’t seem to live with or without the other. I wanted to shake some sense into them.
There’s a lot of drama, I couldn’t handle it anymore. I wanted peace and quiet, love and kindness.
Hmmm, I have to be patient I guess.

Riley’s alter ego gets impatient, every time Riley orders his aroused member to go down, the voice screams “Dying. A. Virgin.”

The tension is killing, the subtle touches are killing. The slow burn is kiiiiiling, I’m so bad with it. Lol.

Situation pass by with words such as devotion, adoration, and worship. My heart, be still.

My kindle got on fire and burned in my hands so hugely intense, sensual, and hot it got.
There are so many promises, sexy, dirty, sweet promises, my heart did such strange things, like stop beating and beating too fast.
In this story, we meet some of the power that hides in Riley.

Jeeez this was a hard one, I cried and wailed like they were.
I’m speechless, what a story, unbelievable captivating, I couldn’t stop reading. It has all the low and all the high moments.

#4 Betrayal

This title doesn’t bode well. I’m a bit afraid of what it will bring.

There is so much characteristic developed with these men, every time we learn more, every time I loved them more. The author did an excellent job.

After being away to Utopia for a few months, Riley is back with his angels. The love that’s sparkling around between the four of them is something precious, special, and dear.

Darn, there are some highly sensual moments to find, goosebumps! Riley learns about bodily pleasures, hallelujah.
The connection with his Angels is complicated but oh so beautiful, their personalities are a sight for the eyes. Their dynamic is breathtaking,

Riley is getting trained m learning to use his strength, pumping up his condition, and using swords.
He has to learn how to defend himself, there are creatures around who want to have him.
We learn how important truly Riley. Unbelievable important!

The author created an awesome universe, with beautiful magical creatures, with different realms.
I said it earlier, they aren’t perfect, flawless, they have all the quirks as humans.

Thank goodness this is a box and I can hurry to the next installment, because dang what an explosive end. The story reached at the end such a high level of intensity, thrill, and excitement, I have no words anymore, I’m speechless.

#5 Redemption

My nails, how can I keep my nails.

Okay, this is something else. It was of a high (I didn’t know it could get even higher) emotional and intense level. I couldn’t believe what I saw.

We are witnessing the beautiful birth of an unbreakable bond, it was breathtaking.
There are heartbreaking moments, despair, bloody despair, so much pain.

Riley’s Angels are missing him enormously, and they will never find peace or happiness without him.
There’s a race against time to find him.

Meanwhile… Riley is… ugh… I can’t tell, sorry, the circumstances are horrible, destructible.

His Angels are on their way, I was so scared they would come too late.

It’s all about light and dark, Angels and Demons.
Again I have no words. Masterly written, highly captivating, a journey I will never forget.

#6 Elysium

I could breathe again. They are together, fractured, but together.
Communication still isn’t what it should be.

The Counsil made decisions for Riley, Lucifer still wants to take Riley.
While Riley is still small and vulnerable, he’s also powerful and strong. No one should die because of him. He’ll fight even when his Angels are afraid to lose him.

There are some prophecies.
Riley is the most forgiving soul in Heaven and Earth where others would walk away he forgave.
I have never seen creatures who loved as hard as they fight each other.
There are awful moments, I wish I could unsee them, but it’s part of the whole picture, I know, still.

So the journey ends, it was everything, watching strong protective, at first sight, stoical Gideon melt, watching sweet sweet loving Noel bloom in trust, watching strong protective, possessive Jai bond, and Riley rise, rise, rise, was EVERYTHING.
These four, darn, sweet, loving, devoted and scorching!

“Jai loved me like a wildfire. Raging. Hot. All-consuming. Noel loved me like a river. Overwhelming. All-encompassing. Healing. But Gideon—oh, the way he loved me. He loved me like an earthquake.”

Wow, what an EPIC impressive ending, unforgettable and huge!! I cried unstoppable! Thank you Nikole Knight for giving them THIS grand finale, because that’s how you end a series like this. Deep bow.

I’m sure I’m forgetting to point out certain things or moments. I hope you understand, for me this series was the best of the best. I enjoyed every book, it’s marvelously written and entertaining like no other, the story was clearly built, manageable, and wonderfully balanced.

A must MUST read, period!! I hope it’s all readable as I promised!

And last but not least the bonus content. Awesome to watch them in their future lives. To be honest I scrolled a bit through this. I was content where book six ended, it was enough.
Still, the bonus was fun and sexy af, every Commitment has his own place and happiness, bonded with each for eternity.

I'm not ashamed to admit I binged this entire series in a couple of weeks. Riley and his guardian angels got under my skin from the very beginning, and the more I learned about their world the more invested I became.

To say that Riley transformed throughout this series is a severe understatement--looking back I can barely recognize the scared, emotionally stunted boy he was in the beginning. As the truth of his identity, his love interests, and his destiny came to light, Riley more than rose to the challenges he was presented. No, he wasn't the perfect protagonist--he made bad judgment calls, let his inner demons stop him from going after what he wanted, and was manipulated by people who didn't have his best interests at heart. All of that just made him feel human and relatable in a world where the rules were constantly being rewritten. I loved him more because of his flaws than I would have if he reacted perfectly under pressure every time, and it gave his journey more meaning to see how much he adapted and grew stronger when his family needed him.

Speaking of Riley's found family, I can't say enough good things about the characters he met throughout this series. Of course, Riley, Jai, Noel, and Gideon were easy to love, but even individuals I thought were unimportant circled back to steal my heart and play a game changing role later in the story. As a warning, this series explores some pretty dark themes, and not all of my favorites made it out unscathed (or even alive) by the time the dust had settled. It really put things into perspective for me to see how even the most fierce warrior wasn't guaranteed to win every fight, or how characters I met and grew to love could be callously extinguished by the Big Bads of this universe. Honestly, it sometimes made me anxious to see Riley and his allies suit up to go into battle, because I knew this could be the one they didn't walk away from, but I wouldn't change the way this series was written because it gave real consequences to every action the main characters took.

If the characters were what made this series spectacular, then the building conflict between angels and demons was a close second. The main storyline did get off to a slower start in the beginning, but once the demons revealed their interest in Riley and started going after him, I was blown away by how much was packed into each book. More than physical battles, betrayals, and escape attempts, Riley and his men had a rich and complex emotional journey to contend with as well as they weighed personal happiness against their duties and responsibilities. I'm seriously impressed by the way Nikole Knight balanced the internal and external conflicts, dangled half-secrets and hidden lore bits throughout the books, and set up massively unexpected reveals time and time again.

In case it wasn't obvious, I can't say enough good things about the writing style, plotlines, characters, and romances in this series. Each and every element that made up these stories was crafted with incredible attention to detail and care, and it made the overall experience very rewarding as a reader. As I mentioned before, these books do explore some dark themes, so please read the trigger warnings and take them seriously. I can promise that even when it seems like everything is going wrong for Riley and his men, there is a path for a happier ending, and they never stop fighting to see it through.

Individual book reviews below!

Revelations (5/5 stars)

Riley's emotional journey broke me down in ways I wasn't expecting, and I can tell that he still has a long way to go. His story drew me in slowly, with only the faintest glimpses of a potential romance and all the emotional torment of a boy who's been struggling for years. My heart felt like it was breaking into a million pieces every time Riley experienced a setback or anxiety spiral. As much as this book was the setup for an epic future conflict, it was also an intimate introduction to everything Riley Shepard. I feel like I got to know Riley in this story on a soul-deep level, and as much as it pained me to see how his past shaped him into the timid, insecure man he is today, I was also stunned by how strongly I connected with him. Riley took sheltered to a whole different extreme, and there was something fascinating about seeing how he approached what I would consider boring, everyday events. The surprise appearance of Jai, Noel, and Gideon only fueled my curiosity about what was going on with Riley, and as the four of them developed a deep friendship my own heart swelled with happiness to see Riley let go of some of his self-loathing. Even if Gideon, Noel, and Jai hadn't been tasked with guarding Riley their protective instincts would have felt spot-on to me. Riley's soul was screaming out for friendship and affection, and the fact that these men were the ones to provide it felt like the most natural thing in the world. Though the entirety of this book felt like one long, slow-burning buildup, things really started to escalate towards the end. From the shocking revelation about Riley's identity to that intense battle with the hellhounds, I get the sense that everything about Riley's world is going to be flipped on its head.

Sacrifice (5/5 stars)

After a deceptively slow start, Riley and his guardians took me one on one heck of an emotional journey. I had a feeling that things weren't going to be smooth sailing as Riley learned more about his identity and grappled with his growing feelings for Noel and Jai, but wow was I not expecting the direction this story went. From Ms. Janet's horrible reappearance to the heartwrenching sacrifice Noel made to keep Riley safe, this story didn't pull any punches. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire second half of this book, desperately waiting to see if everything would turn out okay but knowing, deep in my heart, that nothing in Riley's life would ever be the same again. Even as Nikole crushed my heart into a thousand pieces, I couldn't tear myself away. I've already become so invested in Riley, Jai, Noel, and Gideon's lives that the thought of leaving their series unfinished is impossible for me, even during the most painful moments. I still know so little about Riley's identity and how he fits in with the angels and demons conflict, but this story gave me a small taste of just how far the demons are prepared to go to flip his loyalty. This book went to a much darker place than the last one, and I can already tell that the emotional scars of this experience are going to leave a lasting impact.

Illusion (5/5 stars)

Though this story contained its fair share of emotional turmoil and guardian drama, it felt tame in comparison to the heartbreak of the previous book. Instead of centering around action, adventure, and shocking reveals, this journey explored Riley, Noel, Jai, and Gideon as individuals. It was fascinating to see how these men have grown and changed over the course of this series, and while I wish their circumstances hadn't have forced them into dealing with some of the trauma they had to deal with, there was something healing about seeing the way the four of them came together as a family to help each other. Riley's complicated feelings for his guardians caused him a lot of pain throughout the book, Noel had an incredibly dark cloud of suffering hanging over him, and Jai and Gideon's guilt and shame weighed them down for a good part of the story. Everything about what they were going through was heavy and sad, but despite all of that this book still struck a good balance between treating their situation seriously and showing that a brighter, more hopeful future was possible. When it would have been easy to walk away, these men stuck together and fought for each other, and that unity was what gave me faith that they would find a way forward against the odds. Riley's horrible adoptive mother continued her crusade to tear Riley down, but the angel/demon conflict was surprisingly quiet in this story. It actually made me more nervous to not see that plotline advance much, because I know it means that the next book could have even more terrifying consequences than the last. Either way there's no way I can stop reading until I find out what fate has in store for Riley and his guardians.

Betrayal (5/5 stars)

The majority of this story was such a peaceful respite from the emotional turmoil of this series, but the ending hit hard and I know things are only going to get worse before they get better. Riley and his angels have wound themselves firmly around my heart, and getting to watch as their already close bonds deepened with romantic love was wonderfully satisfying. Whether it was Jai's rougher desire, Noel's sweet affection, or Gideon's shy gardening dates, the sheer depth of their love filled me up with joy. Even the simplest afternoon in the garden or movie night felt like a treasured gift when I could see how happy it made all of them. With all their feelings out in the open, Riley and his angels began exploring the physical aspects of their relationship for the first time, and you'd better believe I devoured every steamy second. I'm so proud of Riley for being brave enough to ask for what he wanted, and the payoff only served to bring them even closer. Outside of the swoon-worthy romances, Riley learned some surprising truths about his parents and had to deal with a devastating betrayal, as the title of the story suggests. When I say the reveal was gut-wrenching, I don't even feel like that comes close to describing the pain and anguish I felt as I watched Riley suffer from the actions of someone he called his friend. Any last hope I had of Riley being able to escape his destiny was snuffed out as he made the difficult decision to protect his loved ones instead of hiding in denial. I'm already bracing myself for a brutal next chapter, because the consequences of Riley's actions are literally going to change the future of this world.

Redemption (5/5 stars)

Every book in this series has tugged on my heartstrings, but this particular chapter of Riley's story was utterly devastating. The suffering, torture, and pain Riley experienced in Lucifer's house was like nothing I've ever seen before, and it ripped my heart right out. The emotions Kirt Graves's narration drew out of me were painful and ugly, but made me feel unbelievably connected to Riley and his angels. I felt the panic Jai, Noel, and Gideon could barely suppress as they desperately searched for Lucifer's hiding place, and not even the tenderness of the time they spent comforting each other in Riley's absence could soothe me. I felt Riley's drugged confusion and brokenness as he succumbed to Lucifer's horrific mind games and could only scream inside as he turned into the puppet Lucifer had sought all along. This story had its moments of peace, hopefulness, and sweet affection, but the overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety never left any of these beloved characters alone for long. I felt viciously satisfied every time Riley showed his strength around his enemies, but also fearful of what he was becoming as a result. The emotional rollercoaster this audio took me on was a whirlwind in the best way, and as much as I ached for those lost along the way, I was so relieved to see Riley and his angels reunited at last. I can only imagine what the final chapter of Riley's adventure will hold, but I'm sure it's going to break me down and build me back up exactly the way he's done already.

Elysium (5/5 stars)

I knew this final chapter of Riley's journey would be explosive, but words can't describe how much this story made me feel. I cried multiple times as I experienced all the fear, hope, pain, and love in this book, and what a captivating and wonderfully written send off this was. Riley and his angels had already been through so much together, but until the threat of Lucifer's uprising was extinguished once and for all, I knew they'd never truly be able to find peace. The first half of this story was deceptively calm as these men took some time to recover and train up before the impending battle, and it was during this buildup that I got to witness some of the most soul-deep love imaginable. Yes, Riley does end up bonded to all his angels before all is said and done, and it was absolutely incredible to experience the passion, bliss, and pure love that led to each pair's decision to cement their bond. Nikole Knight treated each of their bonding moments with such respect and reverence, and I swooned endlessly over the sheer beauty of their connections taking root in their souls. I'm glad I stored up all those happy memories, because as the final battle raged on, it tore at my heart and hope until I thought surely there was no way for these beloved characters to make it out alive. Once again, Riley, Jai, Noel, and Gideon demonstrated how fiercely loyal and strong they each were, and even as the battle took and took from them, they never wavered in their resolve to see it through to the very end. It's safe to say that none of the characters in this story walked away from that fight without scars--physical or emotional--and more than one of the individuals I've come to love didn't make it out at all. Nikole Knight painted a harsh but realistic picture of the aftermath of such a world-changing battle, and as much as it made my heart ache, I can't imagine things unfolding any other way. There was something so fitting about Riley being the one to make that last, pivotal decision, and you'd better believe I was full-out sobbing all the way through that scene. I almost can't believe that this series is really over now, because it's held such a special place in my heart. I'm relieved to know that the worst has passed for Riley and his men, and I'm incredibly satisfied with the way their journey concluded, but wow is this going to linger in my mind for weeks.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this compilation. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

I had read all but one of these books when they were released as singles, but getting the chance to reread them all together in order was wonderful. The world building is excellent from the first book on and the author keeps up the high quality of the storytelling all the way through the end of the final book. Unlike some series, where by the end the author seems to have tired of the world and/or run out of ideas, this one just gets better and better. Book two focuses more on the world's angel and demon power structures, while books three and five focus more on the emotional challenges and development of the characters. I think my favorite book was the fifth one, where you will be forced to stop and ask yourself exactly what you would be willing to do to save those you love. While it is easy to say "anything", this book explores what that might actually mean in practice and some of the answers are devastating. Definitely a not to be missed series.

Dnf 41%. These characters are just in constant misery and angst and it’s not working for me. If you like the overdramatic “I’d die for Riley” boyfriend in Inside Out maybe this is more your jam.

Series review for Fire and Brimstone

Overall, there were elements about this story I liked. I liked the asexual representation, I liked that this fantasy world included people of color without stereotypes, I liked the that the story ends with real substantive change in Utopia. I just didn’t like the artistic choices. I hated the gratuitous violence and sexual assault. I think Nikole had a lot of good intentions, the execution was lacking for me.

Plot: 1/5
Wow, I did not like the series plot at all. There were so many opportunities left on the table. For example, there was a lot of times where we could have explored Lucifer’s choices. Why was he able to convince so many angels both times to join his cause? That wasn’t really explored in the book. I don’t need to feel sympathetic to the villain but at least make it seem like he actually has motivations beyond just wanting to rule the world. Also, I like character driven plots, so watching Riley just react to random things happening wasn’t really entertaining. The VAST majority of the series is just them chilling in the apartment waiting for things to happen. Riley wanted to learn more about his parents but he literally didn’t do anything. Yes, Gideon and Xavier searched. But you totally missed on an opportunity of Riley breaking into the Utopian archives. Give him a some motivations so that we’re not bored all the time. Lastly, the sexual assault was over the top. It seems like the rape and torture scenes weren’t necessary to the plot of the story. I’m not saying this book should have had zero gore and violence. But every single Angel captured by demons were molested. Every time. That’s a choice Nikole made and tbh it’s kinda freaking weird.

Characters: 1/5
I didn’t really care for the characters at all. Yes, Riley became more bearable in the second half of the series. But it wasn’t because he grew or changed, more so it was because he became less neurotic. He was abused so badly he had like 15 different neuroses and triggers. I get that we’re supposed to feel sympathetic towards him but really it just became a caricature and so annoying. Also, I find it weird that he’s able to undo 20 years of trauma just because he found some good dick. Like what?! It’s just such an uninformed view of trauma that I’m incredulous. The story wasn’t good. And it’s not to say that it couldn’t have been good. In the extra scenes like the epilogue and the scene with Addie, Riley is interesting. So I know it’s possible but sadly I didn’t see it at all in the main series until maybe the last two books.

Setting: 1/5
I didn’t care for it. The world building wasn’t interesting even though there was opportunity for it to be super cool. I wished we learned more about Utopian and that Riley could hear from more angels as to why they chose the side they chose.

Writing: 2/5
It wasn’t bad, just didn’t resonate with me.

Diversity: 3/5
There were non-white characters and multiple sexual identities represented. Series also represented disability and mental health issues. Tbh it was better than most gay fantasy books I’ve read regarding diversity. And it passes the Bechdel test.

A Truly Beautiful Story

This is by far one of the most beautiful series I have ever read. As someone who struggled with sexuality, mental health, and abuse, this story was extremely healing. I appreciated the way these topics were handled in the series. It was a very healing experience for me.

I read the reviews and trigger warnings prior to reading, so I was fully prepared for the emotional roller coaster that is Fire & Brimstone. Riley’s development and growth was a eye-opening, realistic thing to be a part of. As someone who is both pansexual and polyamorous, his story struck a deep chord in my heart. I love how his exploration regarding his sexuality was portrayed. It was very healthy, the way other characters, and Riley himself, handled the relevant conversations.

There were definitely heartbreaking moments in his story. His childhood abuse, torture, and struggles definitely brought me to tears. But the comfort and love he experienced was so very healing. Mental health was approached wonderfully in this series. The importance of facing one’s fears and insecurities, of seeking help and not shouldering the burden alone, spoke volumes.

The love between Riley and his angels is so powerful and heartwarming. The slow burn was definitely worth it. I loved watching Riley come to accept who he is and what his angels truly meant to him. The other struggles and challenges that other characters faced was also incredible. The different relationships and their dynamics was enlightening as well.

Fire & Brimstone was so well written. The world building was fantastic. The style and use of both first and third person POV was perfect. The pacing was very smooth, not too rush or slow. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, and I’m so happy for the ending. The bonus content was equally amazing. This series will definitely hold a place in my heart and personal library. This is the first series I’ve read from this author, and I will definitely be reading all of her work.

Nikole, thank you for writing such a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful story.

This review is my honest opinion.

This is without a doubt one of the best series I have ever read! Honestly I don’t have a single complaint.. wait I do… I WANT MORE OF RILEY AND HIS ANGELS! I’ve read it twice now and I never get bored or move some pages, because is that good! The angst, the love they have, all those sacrifices they make to have a life together it’s just breaks my heart and soul everytime! Every caracter is rich and compelling in their own way. Even the fallen are amazing . I can’t stop saying good things about this book. And off course all that sexiness! Jesus Mary Joseph! They take their time, but damn, hell has nothing on the hotness of Jai, Noel and Riley! Gideon we love you too <3

Nikole Knight delivered a wonderful story and wraps all of us in a warm blanket of emotions and I freaking LOVE IT! We laugh, cry, angst, love, hate, suffer, bleed and sweat with then, literally!

PS: waiting for Uriel novella like a starving women!

The way I have a bone to pick with you woman 😤😫 Why you drag me around like that?!?! Just throwing hands willy-nilly?!?!  This damn series CRUSHED my heart bruh. I feel like I should have prepared myself better from that opening 😔

This is very slow burn but the growth between them relationship(s) wise & as individuals?? *chefs kiss* I especially love the representation with Riley & Gideon. It makes me,personally, feel valid. They all had to go through hell to get everything but I just love this group so much! Riley ... sunshine boy Riley ... I felt for him so hard but was so proud of him at the end ! Like HE DID THAT 😫🖤 Give him all the love & peace he wants! He earned that shit ! Him & Noel cause fuuuuck me .

I wanted Gideon, my anchor, my safety. I wanted Jai, my strength, my freedom. I wanted Noel, my passion, my love. (😫🖤)

Some fav quotes:
•“Touch a hair on his head, and I’ll disembowel you with a spoon.”
•“I’m going to kick your bony ass.” “My ass isn’t bony.”
•“I think you shot me.” He pouted. “Bitch, I thought we were friends.” *proceeds to bawl my eyes out*
•“Fuck yourself on a cactus, Lucy”
•"You’re beautiful when you beg.” 😈
•“Sometimes, you have to be a monster to defeat the demons."
•“There you are,” he said. And I said, “Here I am.”

N.S.: Ahuvi (my love), Chaim sheli (my life) Kapara (my hope, my redemption), Neshama sheli (my soul),Giddy, my dark angel, sweetie, precious one, my courageous little one, baby, & brat

Revelations
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Talk about a slow burn! Literally no spice. No kissing. Barely any touching. Riley didn't even realize or acknowledge what he was beginning to feel.

Typically a book this slow wouldn't hold my interest. There was enough plot outside of the developing relationship to hold my interest. The surface of this world has barely been scratched. I'm eager to explore more.

Sacrifice
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We're still slow burning and it's still SO GOOD!

The almost kiss with Jai? Holy swoon.

The sweet kiss with Noel? Squee!

The kiss with Jai before running to Purgatory to save Noel? *fans self*

I am obsessed with this series so far. Fantasy isn't usually something I go for but I'm so happy I've given these a chance.

Illusion
⭐⭐⭐⭐
At this point I don’t even care about the romance (still the slowest of slow burns btw). I’m far more invested in the rest of the story.

Betrayal
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really dislike how this book ended. Not because it was bad. But because I finished at bedtime and couldn’t immediately dive into the next one.

Also. Beau can kick rocks. I’m glad I never warmed up to him.

Redemption
⭐⭐⭐
My least favorite of the series.

This one was a lot. For a series that was on the lighter side of dark this one took a turn. It didn't work for me. Still enjoyable though.

I take back everything I said about Beau.

Elysium
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this series. The last book left me wanting more. I'd love a look at Beau and Bel in Elysium. My heart aches for Uriel. An update on Xavier and Danny too.

I loved how this was a true poly series. Usually everyone is partners with everyone in fiction. Here Riley is partners with everyone. Jai and Noel kind of hint at going there. Riley is their main focus though.

Gideon has my whole heart though. I love a shy, gentle giant. His (in my opinion as an allo with not a lot of outside knowledge of the ace spectrum) asexuality was handled wonderfully. Riley was his absolute perfect partner.

Fantasy isn't a genre I typically seek out but I'm so SO happy I have this series a chance.

Bonus Content
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was so nice to see these guys get some happy! Each scene is set in the future. I loved seeing how their relationships with each other evolved.

I received a copy of this book from GRR and this is my honest review.

"Fire & Brimstone Scrolls" has undeniably become one of my all-time favorite book series. With its compelling plot, fascinating world-building, well-crafted characters, engaging dialogues, and a perfect balance between action, inner conflicts, and romance, it truly stands out.

Following Riley's journey was nothing short of amazing, and witnessing his growth throughout the story was both impressive and intricately developed. But it's not just Riley; all the other characters, such as Jai, Noel, Gigeon, and Beau, possess complexity and unique personalities that add depth to the narrative.

The series delves deeply into the characters' inner worlds, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Additionally, the action scenes are vividly described, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. While the book does include elements of violence, homophobia, rape, and torture, as stated in the book's description, I must commend the author for handling these sensitive topics with care and respect, preserving the thrilling emotions without crossing into gratuitous territory.

An exceptional aspect of the series is its embrace of a wide range of gender identities, sexualities, and gender expressions. This inclusivity is refreshing, especially in a genre where queer representation can often fall into limiting stereotypes. However, there are instances where the book may become didactic about queer relationships, but this did not detract significantly from my overall enjoyment.

In conclusion, I thoroughly relished "Fire & Brimstone Scrolls," and it left me yearning for more adventures with these characters. I wholeheartedly recommend this series to anyone seeking a diverse and immersive reading experience.

Fire and Brimstone Scrolls is an extremely well crafted PNR tale. I love the twin storylines of Riley's identity/heritage and him falling in love with his Guardian Angels, Gideon, Jai and Noel. It's the slowest of slow burns as none of the relationships develop romantically before book four of the six in the series (and rightly, too, I think given Riley's age and maturity levels when he sets out in this personal journey) and I love that each relationship is unique to the pairing, but of absolutely equal value to the others.

The descriptions of life on the mortal plane, in Utopia and in the Underworld take us beyond the usual contrast of light and dark (though of course that's an element) and really bring to life the joy, wonders, happiness and humour as well as the pain, betrayal, suffering and devastation brought about by both the bonds between the MCs and the plot to remove Riley from his safe haven with the angels and the subsequent battles between Utopia and the Underworld. Ultimately, though, healing and love prevail and Riley, Gideon, Noel and Jai can enjoy their so hard fought for HEA.

This is a great series, including some always welcome bonus content. My lowest individual rating of any of the books making up the Fire And Brimstone Scrolls is 4.5*, and I have to say I'm so glad I was late to the party so I had the pleasure of binging practically the whole thing. 5*

An ARC was provided by GRR. This is my honest review.

Fire & Brimstone Scrolls: The Complete Series Box Set is a wonderfully written intense, action packed, rollercoaster of emotions, angels and demons, all in one place. It has wonderful characters and amazing world building. I loved getting to know Jai, Noel, and Gideon. This series is told from Riley's point of view. In the beginning Riley has no idea who he is or that he's different from any other human. He has three Guardians, Jai, Noel, and Gideon, who watch over him. He wasn't supposed to see them but when he did, everything he ever knew changed. He found out who he was and the fight for good and evil - the fight for Riley - had begun. I really enjoyed this series. It captured me from the very beginning. It was a bit intense at times, especially when Riley was in Purgatory. I loved the sweet slow burn romance between Riley, Jai, Noel, and Gideon. It was like they loved each other but they knew they needed to take things slow because of Riley's innocence and everything he had already been through. I loved watching Riley grow throughout the series, becoming independent, developing his powers, and learning what true love really is. I loved the end where we see a little into the future where maybe Riley, Jai, Noel, and Gideon can have some peace and happiness, and a little normalcy. I definitely recommend this collection, though it might not be for everyone.

Beautiful but Heartbreaking

This is an amazing urban fantasy romance, but it is not for the faint of heart.

**TW & Potential Spoilers**

This is definitely a darker romance, with multiple graphic schemes of violent sexual assault, torture, and gore. If these things bother you, this may not be the series for you.

That being said, the overall story is beautiful. My heart both soared and broke for Riley, Noel, Jai, Gideon, and their loved ones. I actually had to take a break after book 3 because my heart hurt so much.

There is a clear happy ending for the main characters, made all the better by the collection of epilogues at the end of the series.

My biggest criticism is that the sexual violence was too much. I'm not a fan of sexual violence as a plot point in the first place, and the scenes in this series were very graphic.

My other criticism is that one of the minor characters did not get a happy ending. His life was literally torn apart and he never recovers. I'm not sure if that is because his tale continues in another story, but it broke my heart.

Amazing series, and highly recommended if you can handle the darkest parts of it.

Wow…this series was amazing beyond words! It’s about Riley and how he falls in love with his guardian angels Jai, Noel and Gideon. It is seriously the slowest of slow burns. There is no steam until the end of book 4. Usually it is hard to keep my interest with super slow burn books…BUT that was 100% not the case here! The storyline kept me completely invested the whole time and the steaminess was on the back burner. I was sucked completely into this story and could not stop once I started. Poor Riley has literally been through the ringer. H has dealt with so much in his life but through it all his angels have been his one constant in his life. This series was full of ups and down and was a roller coaster of emotions. If you haven’t picked up this series do yourself a favor and grand it now!

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

POV: 1st person single POV (Riley)

Standalone or series: whole series in a box set

Would I recommend it: 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommend!! 🤩

Would I read it again: Most definitely!

This is a new to me author who I will be looking at other books from. She grabbed me from book 1 and kept my interest to the end of book 6. Riley has such a growth in his character and learning who he is and where he's going. The whole paranormal aspects are well fleshed out and the story line is really good. The guardian angels Jai, Gideon and Noel are perfect partners in every sense of the word. The descriptions of life on Earth, Utopia and the Underworld are well written and interesting. There's moments of light all the way to very dark. Happiness and sadness. All around a complete 360 in all the feels. There is so much to say but the main thing is buy this boxset and read these books. If you like paranormal, I definitely think you'll like these books. I really wish I could write a review to give justice to these books. Only negative thing I felt about these books was I felt like it was too slow on the slow burn romance part.

Amazing and heartbreaking

This is a long read as it is a boxset of 6 stories and comes in at over 2000 words. It is the complete story of Riley and his guardian angels. There are a lot of triggers in this book but it is absolutely phenomenal and really worth the read.

This is one of the best MM+ paranormal books I have read and is also one of the best ace characters I have seen written. This book had me in tears at some points - both because it was super emotional and because parts were so funny. I loved the character development throughout as well, especially seeing how Riley grew from a timid and traumatised boy to a fierce defender of his chosen family. My heart broke so many times reading this book but it was pieced together again and again and I would do it all over as this book was just fantastic.

I love the concept and the world created in this series. Every sacrifice they made broke my heart. There were moments i have tears because of their pain… but there are some things that didnot satisfy me.
- some details wasnot explained so I chose to ignore some angel mechanics and just accepted that this is how things work with the angels, demons and their realm.
- i was really hoping to see a happy ending for beau and uriel.
- It was slowburn but do we really need to get until book 6 to have them all bonded and a bonus story to see them all 4 together. until the end, their poly relationship confused me. I think that led me more invested with Jai and Noel, i love these two.

I still enjoy reading this inspite of it flaws and Im glad I didnt read it while it was ongoing. I dont think I will have the patience waiting for the next book because of the slow pace.

This is the complete series all together in one volume. I absolutely loved this story!!! It is such a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, light and dark, but it is soooo good and the end is worth it all the way! I also enjoyed the extra short stories being all together here as well. They are a nice snapshot into points of these characters' lives and loves. Now if you haven’t read these before, these are not light hearted books but they have such a satisfying resolution. Riley has only ever wanted to have a normal life, but what he doesn’t know is that he is destined for so much more than that. This is such a fully realized fiction world and it fascinated me right from the start. You have to read this!! I will be coming back to this series for years.

This box set was simply whoa! For the wealth of characters and emotions, for the world building and the intense action, for the twists and the exciting turns of the extensive plotline.

Riley, Jai, Noel and Gideon kept me breathless from the beginning. Their relationship has been the slowest of slow burn, they've been put through a lot and they survived so much. I loved seeing these men continue to grow under my eyes, lean on each other and balancing one another. Theirs has been a journey full of trials and they came through at their best, for themselves and for the others, as lovers and family.

This has been an epic adventure for me, with pain, angst and uncertainty, but also with hope, friendship, love, encouragement and courage that eventually lead to happiness.

Go into this series knowing that you’re in it for the long haul— there’s a winding road of character development for protagonist Riley and the slowest of slow burns for him and his angels. Heed the content warnings also, as the world you’re going into has its share of darkness and violence, physical and emotional. For me, it was the overall world building, which is expansive, imaginative, and beautifully (and occasionally horrifyingly) detailed, that anchored the overall reading experience and made it impossible to look away from. It’s an interesting (in the best possible ways) read, and if the blurb appeals to you, definitely one you should pick up.

I'm a sucker for a really good theology Angels and Demons story and this just wasn't it.
There was ALOT of wash, rince, repeat so much so that if it was taken out this series could have been a duology maybe a trilogy at a push.
Between the constant vomiting, crying and I'm sorrys not to mention the severe lack of communication and martyrdom it made it really difficult to even like any of the characters.
The millennia old angels act like juveniles and the Main human character is more like a 9 year old rather than the 19 year old he was ment to be.
Don't even get me started on the creation of the "Angel and demon realms" the less said the better.
I felt more for the side characters than I did for any of the main ones. Very Disappointed with this read.

This is the complete collection of the series all in one box set. The series by Nikole Knight is intense, but really well written. The series follows Riley and his guardian angels. The books are filled with hurt/comfort, a slow-burn romance, and eventually some steamy gay harem scenes. It was a heartwarming story, with lots of emotions. The characters are interesting and develop over the course of the books. While the overall theme is dark, there are some humor and laugh-out-loud moments to make it even better. Overall a really good binge-worthy read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is an intense and emotional fantasy read! The world building is incredible, and the characters are well developed over all the books. The Romance aspect of the story is about Riley and how he bonds and falls in love with his Guardian Angels! There are lot of ups and downs here and it is a very slow burn through the first few books. I loved how Riley's relationship with each guardian was very different. That being said if you love a good paranormal fantasy story, then this series this is definitely for you! There is violence, gore, hurt comfort, betrayal, jealousy. You will feel every emotion throughout the series! Every book builds on the other, but the characters and situations are every changing. I received an ARC of this series and just know once you start book one you will have to keep reading through all the books as there are many cliffhangers you will need to have answered!

Oh this series, how I love it. This series starts out with the slowest of burns - Riley has A LOT of growing up to do before he can even consider a relationship with one man, let alone 3. But the payoff is so worth it.

During the course of the series, you'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll rage at what the author puts these characters through. But stick with it- read the whole damn series (and the bonus content!) for the the hard won, well deserved HEA. Riley and his angels will stick with you for a long, long time- I promise you that. Nikole is a sadistic genius, her world building is second to none and you'll love her characters more than any other.

OH MY GOD!!!!

What an incredible rush/joy this has been!

So many great books in one volume!!

I also loved the MMMM of it all.

I really liked the flaxen-haired Bethany, HATED Brian, typical jock ish character who can’t even make his own bed, being an asshole to Riley.

And then that opening scene of the first Scroll: years ago I had a fanfic (which I never completed) called Angelic Hellfire, I did have some (slight spoiler?) plucking of wings but this story was about a Son of Satan vs Daughter of God. I totally sucked at knowing what I wanted to happen.

This was an AMAZING last book series that I read in 2021.

I totally recommend this volume.

Oh this series! I laughed, I cried, I raged, I mourned. So much emotion...from beginning to end, these 'scrolls' brought it out in me. Honestly, sometimes I felt like a rung-out dish rag. But there was always more. More drama, more danger, more confusion (for Riley), more secrets, more questions, more angst. But always there was the love, care, and kindness of his angels. I first read these books as they came out, and I can tell you how great it is to have them all in one book. This is definitely a series I will enjoy and reread again and again.

This is a remarkable series and I am so happy that it's now in a wonderful boxed set! I read each book individually and I waited patiently as each book was released. I love that you can now read all of these amazing books altogether! This a slow burn series with amazing world building and the most complex and well developed characters and story! Get ready for a true emotional roller coaster with plenty of ups and downs. I loved it and I gladly read them again in this amazing boxed set! I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review! You will not be disappointed!

I personally love when books are bundled together as you can sit and read them in one shot rather than waiting for the next one. This one has 6 books in it and they were all amazing. You first meet Riley when he is in college and very meek and mild. He meets his Angel guardians after they stopped an attack on him. These individual books take you on a journey of how Riley grew into himself. There is lots of action, gore, slow, slow burn romance into finally a happy ever after for Riley and his three guardians.

I received a copy of this book for my review.
