All the talk leading in to the Broncos’ clash with the Storm was about their shocking record against Craig Bellamy’s outfit.

However, Kevin Walters’ side proved they are a new beast with a mammoth display to down a Craig Bellamy’s side who were on a four-game winning streak.

In Round 27, the Storm bested the Broncos to record their 14th consecutive win over the Red Hill club, having not last at Suncorp Stadium since 2009.

Reynolds was asked about the ‘hoodoo’ in the post-match press conference and joked Channel 9 reporter Ben Dobbin had been pulling out all stops to secure a win.

“Dobbo was working to break the hoodoo, burning cards and all sorts of stuff out the front,” Reynolds said.

“Doing all sorts of funny stuff, but look for us we are all new players and a new team.

“We haven’t experienced the last 14 years or whatever it is, it’s in the past. We knew we needed to come here tonight with a good attitude.

“And if we did that we were in with a shot to win the game. Our attitude showed tonight that we can match them and beat them here at Suncorp.”

Now the Broncos have booked a spot in the preliminary final and are only one win away from the big dance.

“We will enjoy this victory, rest up recover and go again,” Reynolds said.

“We have a week to prepare and we don’t know who we are playing... we’ve got strike right across the park.

“We’ve got forwards who can lay a great platform and we’ve got crafty players in the spine, a good blend of youth and mature players.”

Storm coach Craig Bellamy was impressed with his opponent’s performance and made a huge claim regarding their premiership credentials.

When asked if the Broncos could lift the trophy at the season’s end: “Yeah, without a doubt”.

“I’ve said that (all season) and I don’t know if people don’t believe me but the Broncos and Penrith have been well ahead of all the other teams from what I’ve seen,” Bellamy said.

“Again, September is a new competition. I’m not sure where that come from tonight but sometimes a team like the Broncos or Penrith might do that as well.

“But they can certainly go all the way. Last week, if they win that game they’re minor premiers and you’ve had a pretty good year when you’re a minor premiere, they’re hard to get.”

“He also hailed Brisbane’s defence, keeping the Storm to zero points for the first time in a finals game since the 2008 grand final against the Sea Eagles.

“Their attack is a real strong point but I think the biggest thing tonight has been their defence, to be quite honest, they seemed to disrupt us a fair bit tonight and I think that’s the area they’re improving most.

“Reynolds hasn’t been there for a little bit either and I thought he made a massive difference tonight, we know how good a kicker he is but some of his defensive plays tonight were outstanding.”
