Looking back on her younger self, Hilary Duff says she wasn’t very healthy or happy.

“I was too thin,” the 27-year-old told People about her late teenage years spent trying to fit in with other slim young stars.

“That was not a healthy place for me,” added Duff, whose hair is currently teal. “I was so unhappy. I remember my hands cramping because I wasn’t getting enough nutrients.”

Duff says she was obsessed with her weight at the trying time. “A lot of girls my age were super skinny,” recalled the former “Lizzie McGuire” star. “I think it’s just as bad now, but it’s more normal. It’s crazy. I can’t be that way. It’s not my normal state.”

Duff has previously said she weighed 98 pounds at the age of 17.

And like most women, their bodies undergo changes after giving birth.

Duff, who filed for divorce from ex Mike Comrie in February, welcomed son Luca three years ago.

“Things don’t bounce back the way they used to, but I don’t need to be 110 pounds,” said Duff, echoing Olivia Wilde’s recent baby- weight comments. “I’m a 27-year-old mother. I feel fit and strong and happy.”
