Examining the OCZ Memory Modules:

The OCZ Platinum 6GB memory modules came well package in a blue box that advertises that it is DDR3 triple channel memory in orange and silver lettering. Opening the box reveals two plastic packages, one with one module, and the other with the other two sticks. The modules themselves have the standard OCZ heatspreader in a glossy platinum color. OCZ's heatspreaders are nice because they don't add a lot of height to the memory and they are thin enough to allow multiple sticks to sit side by side. They also sport the Z on them with a 3 representing DDR3 memory. The sticker shows the timings are 7-7-7 which is good for DDR3. They run at 1.65V which is the standard for i7 X58 motherboards.

Installing the OCZ Modules & Timings:

The EVGA E758-A1 has six memory slots, they manual says to fill the green ones first (which in the later revisions of the board are gray). Once you boot up it is highly recommended that you go into the BIOS and set the timings. Leaving everything on its default settings could cause problems. When I got into the BIOS it has chosen 9-9-9-36 for the timings. I changed them to 7-7-7-24 and everything was good from there. These modules do not have XMP profiles so everything must be set manually. Which for someone who tweaks everything like a good overclocker should it's not a problem. I booted at 1600MHz speed with a 20x multi and after some voltage adjustment for VCore on the chip it booted to 4GHz no problem.
