Constant Current Coulometry (Amperostatic Coulometry):

This method is better called as coulometric titration. Within a coulometric titration, a titrant which is electrolytically produced reacts stoichiometrically along with another and proceeds with l00 percent effectiveness. It includes a single chemical modify in the analyte. Coulometric titration has a special benefit within the sense which a standard solution is not needed. This method is extremely meaningful for the estimation of micro and semi-micro quantities of substances.

Figure: Schematic of a coulometric titration

Above figure depicts the principal components of a classical coulometric titrator. A source of constant current (amperostat) and a switch which concurrently initiates the current and begins an electronic timer are needs. The potential drop across the standard resistor, Rstd is used for the measurement. Several electronic or electromechanical amperostats are available within the market.
