Duane “Red” Bade, 85, Fair Grove, Missouri was born to James and Orvene (Roberts) Bade on August 9, 1935 in Firth, Nebraska and passed away on December 8, 2020 at Cox Health Center with his daughters by his side.

James and Orvene Bade moved their family to Swedeborg, Missouri when Duane was nine months old.  Duane grew up working on the farm, in the ice house, lumber mill, picking strawberries and at a gas station.  When he graduated from Richland High School, Duane went to work at the shoe factory and the boat factory.  He started working for AT&T Longlines. While living in Glenwood, Iowa he met and married Caryl L. Meadows.  To this union three daughters were born.   Duane and his family travelled together as a family all over the United States with this job living in 13 states. In 1964, he transferred from AT&T to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Springfield, Missouri.  In 1965, they bought some property and moved to Fair Grove, Missouri.  Duane and Caryl always had gardens and a strawberry patch.  They were very supportive of the girls in all of their school activities.  Duane instilled in his family a good work ethic, in 40 years of working he never missed a day and never had an on-the-job injury or accident.  In 2015, his wife suffered a fall and was in extended care and he sat with her every day and when he brought her home, he cared for her exclusively.  Duane will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Caryl; his parents, two brothers, Norman Bade and wife Eileen and Robert Bade and wife Rose.

He is survived by his three daughters, LaDonna McKee and husband Steve, Fort Worth, Texas; Wanda Slate and husband, Carl of Ava, Missouri; and Annette Bade and husband, Mike McMullin, Palm Springs, California; three grandchildren, Brad Stanifer and wife Brandi, Whitney Stanifer, and Kaila Huffman and husband, Andrew; five great grandchildren, Carson Pollard, Jhase Pollard, Ila White, Sawyer Huffman and Bader Ray Stanifer; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services for Duane “Red” Bade will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2020 at St. John’s Swede Cemetery, Swedeborg, Missouri.  Visitation will be held 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2020 at Day Funeral Home, Marshfield, Missouri.  Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Swede Cemetery and left in care of Day Funeral Home.
