After over 17 years with SM Entertainment, Super Junior’s Donghae, Eunhyuk, and Kyuhyun are parting ways with their company. On Friday, July 14, SM Entertainment officially announced, "Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Kyuhyun have not renewed their contracts with us and will each be pursuing individual activities."
However, all three idols will still continue to participate in future group activities and promote as Super Junior under SM Entertainment. "We plan to communicate closely with them so that they can effectively carry out both their group activities and their solo activities at the same time."
Meanwhile, the remaining active members of Super Junior — Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Siwon, and Ryeowook — have all renewed their contracts with the agency.
Donghae and Eunhyuk both debuted as members of Super Junior 05 in 2005, while Kyuhyun joined the group a year later in 2006 to promote "U." The group then became known as just Super Junior, without the suffix "05". Kyuhyun is also a member of K-pop's first-ever sub-unit Super Junior K.R.Y (alongside the other main vocalists Yesung and Ryeowook), while Super Junior D&E debuted as a sub-unit in 2011 with their single "Oppa Oppa."
Donghae recently starred in the drama Oh! Youngsim, and he and Eunhyuk are preparing for their 2023 D&E World Tour Fancon DELight Party (which has a Manila stop on September 30). Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun, along with their older sisters Lee Sora and Cho Ara, were filmed touring Tokyo for episodes of KBS 2TV’s family travel variety show Walk Into A Frenzy. Kyuhyun is also busy preparing for his musical comeback as the title character in Ben-Hur.
