I write ZEK and I’ve been writing since the early 90’s, 1993 to be exact. Born and raised in Montreal and I’m from one of the first generation of writers in the city. As a young writer I always had a blast when I saw new walls of crews like FX, FC, TC5, TATS, KD in NYC. Writers like Bates, Can2, 123K and 156 from Europe have influenced me too over the years.
I always followed the steps in my evolutions. I was strictly into bombing for the first decade then slowly learned how to shape wild and clean letters. For a long time I was considering my style as a euro-american hybrid. I think I’m back into a more classic american style of writing with a original Montreal flavour. I like to change my style slowly throughout time. Winter in Canada is intense and forces you to sketch a lot during the colder months while you can’t paint outside, it definitely help to renewe your style year after year.
